OPEN LOG

When; Friday, June 19th
Rating; Variable
Characters; OPEN
Summary; All you swinging hepcats, come and dance the blues away!
Log;

The Blue Light is it's typical hole in the wall self, except for the lights and the music, which are a little brighter and a little more upbeat, and the dance floor that's been cleared in the main room. But there are plenty of tables and chairs that have been pushed against the walls for when someone wants to take a break, and the bar is always available for anyone who may want a drink.

And Blue is passing through the crowds. Even though his staff is working tonight he seems to be doing every job; serving, bartending, playing, and even dancing a little and stopping to say hi to anyone who he may know.

He just hopes that everyone has a good time.

At the nudge, Rosella glances up, and her face lights up in a smile. "Blue!" she says happily, accepting the drink. "Oh, thank you! You've really done a wonderful job with all this, you know. I can hardly make myself sit still!"

She yelps at the hair-ruffling and bats lightly at his hands, her smile widening into a grin. "I will, I will! I just haven't picked my partner yet, silly."

She's teasing, though, and looking to see his reaction to that. Partner or not, she'll be out on the floor and dancing soon enough; the music is lively and she knows she won't be able to keep herself in her seat for long.

"You're still my favorite, anyway," Rosella laughs, sipping her drink. "But I'll be certain that any prospective partners of mine are duly warned."

She pauses, regarding Blue thoughtfully for a moment. It's become habit by now, checking on him; so much so that she barely realizes she does it anymore. Is he happy? Is he enjoying himself? It seems that way, tonight. "Managing all this won't keep you too busy to dance a little yourself, tonight, will it?"

She easily picks up on the joke, raising her eyebrows at him. "Oh, well, now that you mention it, Neil is getting rather good, you know. We've been practicing quite a bit for all this. Yes, if this keeps up, I think he might just turn out to be competition for you for the honor of being my favorite."

Her grin quickly turns into a look of mock-annoyance. "If I ask you?" she continues playfully. "Well! Since when is it the duty of the lady to ask her gentleman for a dance?"

"Perhaps not, but I'd be obliged to interfere on his behalf, which would even things out a little." Not that it would do much good anyway, in her opinion, since Rosella is fairly certain that if Blue really wanted to, he could easily manage to fight off the two of them at once. Fortunately, she's also fairly certain there'll never be a need to, either.

"I do endeavor to be, on occasion," she replies. "Would that be the appropriate course of action, then, for a modern woman in a situation like mine?"

"Goodness, I don't know if I can manage it without another word," she says with a laugh, but she's on her feet in an instant, taking the hand he offers her and pulling him toward the dance floor. The short rest was just what she needed, but now she's had time to catch her breath and she's ready to dance again.

"Just don't tell me that being a modern woman means I have to lead," she adds as she tugs Blue along. "You're much too good at it, yourself, and I know I couldn't compete!"
