OPEN LOG
When; Friday, June 19th
Rating; Variable
Characters; OPEN
Summary; All you swinging hepcats, come and dance the blues away!
Log;
The Blue Light is it's typical hole in the wall self, except for the lights and the music, which are a little brighter and a little more upbeat, and the dance floor that's been cleared in the main room. But there are plenty of tables and chairs that have been pushed against the walls for when someone wants to take a break, and the bar is always available for anyone who may want a drink.
And Blue is passing through the crowds. Even though his staff is working tonight he seems to be doing every job; serving, bartending, playing, and even dancing a little and stopping to say hi to anyone who he may know.
He just hopes that everyone has a good time.

And so she's here, mingling with the crowd and passing by the bar. With her long perfected party mask in place, no one can tell she desperately wants to be elsewhere.

When he recognizes her violet eyes in the dimly-lit Blue Light, Robin's pliant mouth forms an 'o' of surprise, pointed eyebrows climbing his face.
"Promise."

Making noise as he approaches-- normally his footsteps would be silent --the puck slides into a chair across from the other man and peers at his dark glasses.
"Are you blind, kid?"

Still, her endurance does have its limits, and that's how she finds herself at an open table, sipping a soda and tapping her toes along with the music. She'll catch her breath for a few minutes, she thinks to herself as her gaze flickers over the crowd, and then find a partner and make her way back to the dance floor once again.

"I'm so glad you came," he says with a smile, and a root beer prepared in hand. He opens it with a careful twist of his hand and hands her the bottle. "Here, have this, first."

He grins at Rosella, incapable of containing his excitement. Not that he's trying, really.
"Ready to show 'em all up?" he asks cheerfully. He's feeling pretty confident, caught up in the moment.

He didn't feel too bad though. A nap ealier and some aspirin had taken care of the headache and he managed to keep up with orders and even take some time to tap his feet to the music. But Tony was just glad to watch the dancers whirling out on the floor. He had no desire to join them. Just watching made him dizzy.

"Here," he says, with a small smirk. "I think you're going to need this." Blue had, in his past, taken something a little harder, but only a couple of times. Caffeine mints were pretty easy, and they were the key to the success of an all nighter, as Blue found out when he used to have to work them back in Fabletown.

This meant, of course, that it didn't take him long to find Tony, and the puck leaned against the bar with both hands flat on its surface, predatory smile with what seemed like far too many teeth broad on his pointed face.
"White Russian. Make it snappy. I'd ask for a white something else, but I'm unclear on your ethnicity."

It's not Billy's kind of place either, come to think of it, but it was nice of him to humor her and agree to come.
Now that they're there, though, Penny can't decide what to do. Should they get a little dancing in while the dance floor's still nice and crowded? Would it be better to mill around and socialize? Billy's been in the City longer than Penny; he might have friends he wants to say hello to.
"See anyone you know?" she asks him, scoping out the crowd.

Then never mind! It's not there.

"Billy!" she exclaims, smiling. He certainly looks much better as a human than as a frog. "I'm so glad to see you! Are you having fun?"

So she leans into her microphone, cupping it with one hand and twirling around on the platform, heels tapping in time to the beat.
If she's lucky, she thinks, maybe someone will steal her away for a few minutes or so. If not, she'll wait until it's time for a break and steal someone herself. She's never experienced this level of frivolity in Beijing - why not start now?

The other hand holds two glasses; cosmopolitans. One for her and one for him, each balanced with long stem clutched between long, wicked fingers, liquid inside undisturbed.
"Brava. You did well. As expected. Have a drink on Robin."

At least, until Neil and Rosella were up. He made sure he was closer for that; after all, the entire reason he was here was to cheer on his friends. Of course, it also made it easier to keep track of where they went when they left the dance floor, and meant that he could join them rather easily; which, of course, he did.
He approached from behind Neil, with a tiny, mischievous smile on his face. Rather than announcing his presence with words, he reached up and gave his friend's hair a thorough ruffling.

She lingers by the bar, working up the nerve to talk to people who look vaguely familiar. For all of her apparent social graces, Penny isn't too comfortable approaching people without a petition or a worthy cause. What if she bothers someone who doesn't feel like talking to her? What if she starts babbling away at someone she thinks she's met, only to realize that she has them confused with someone else?

When she spots Penny by the bar, she heads right over with a bright smile, weaving her way through the people until she's near enough to say hello without having to shout.
"Hello, you're Penny, aren't you? I'm Rosella, Billy's friend--we've spoken a bit before, but I don't think we've ever really been properly introduced."

I am a judge, she thinks hauntingly, I must set an example of how its done. She mingles inside, walking easily in spite of her red high heels, looking for the judge table where she should sit.
