OPEN LOG

When; Friday, June 19th
Rating; Variable
Characters; OPEN
Summary; All you swinging hepcats, come and dance the blues away!
Log;

The Blue Light is it's typical hole in the wall self, except for the lights and the music, which are a little brighter and a little more upbeat, and the dance floor that's been cleared in the main room. But there are plenty of tables and chairs that have been pushed against the walls for when someone wants to take a break, and the bar is always available for anyone who may want a drink.

And Blue is passing through the crowds. Even though his staff is working tonight he seems to be doing every job; serving, bartending, playing, and even dancing a little and stopping to say hi to anyone who he may know.

He just hopes that everyone has a good time.

Immediately, her chest tightens, and quickly she looks for some place to set her glass down, because with it, everything's too much of a balancing act. With it, she can't simply run or kick off her heels and get lost in the crowd of people, because he'll be too fast for her, they'll cause a scene. She wonders. It's not even the fact that there is a boy named Tony in the picture - Hong Mei has always understood, has always been made to understand by Robin, that she's never going to be the only one in his view - that bothers her. It's more that he's using her. That no matter how closely he may look at her, how gently he may coax or how mischievously he twirls her around, she is the object.

And maybe she's resigned herself to that long ago; a soldier is only a soldier. But more than anything else, Hong Mei has depended on Robin not to lay everything out. Only now, she feels like she's caught in a bind again - now that he has, if she spurns him, she'll have lied, right? All of the times she claimed that she could accept him for who he was.

It's too much at once, and she gasps lightly at the realization that the corners of her eyes are still burning. Quickly, she dabs at them with the backs of her fingers.

"Don't apologize, there's... nothing to forgive. Um." She bites at her lower lip, cheeks suddenly flushed as she can't remember where the bathroom is. "I should find a mirror, check on my make-up."

Wordlessly, he takes the glass from her hand, emptying it like his own before giving her a collected look, one trying to minimize collateral damage. He finds a nearby table, sets both glasses down on it before returning, not letting her bolt, and laying both hands on small shoulders.

Robin doesn't vocally object, but there is an objection in his tone that is never put into words. He certainly does need to apologize. He was repeating old mistakes-- ones he should, now of all times, learned the gravity of. He could only imagine what what Ishiah would have to say. Or Promise.

"I'll make it up to you. But this is a party. Don't let some old puck bring your evening down. But go find some time alone if you need it."

"No," she insists, lips pulling thin as she shakes her head violently, the quiver passing through the rest of her body, a leaf shaking in the wind. "No. You don't need to make it up to me. You didn't do anything wrong, and I said I'd be fine with... don't start apologizing now. I'm guessing you're not in the best of moods, and that's fine. I'm supposed to... be there for you when that happens or something, just."

Hong Mei wriggles uncomfortably, the weight on her shoulders not at all what she's accustomed to. Some small part of her just wants to shrug them off and run off, but where? Where can she go that won't just take her in circles?

"I don't need time alone, I just need to do my job. This isn't meant to be party for me. I promised Blue that my voice would be its best tonight. This is his night."

She tucks her hair behind an ear, peering around and hoping she hasn't drawn any attention.
