Summary; The long awaited second beach party takes place when everyone needed to socialize most.
Log;

She thought she was going to go crazy. After the disappearance of Lacus and Kira, and then being sent to an empty City, Uta was beside herself with worry. She sent reminders to everyone she knows that the party will be today, but she wonders if people would want to even be there after that curse.

Nevertheless, Hiiragi, Jun, and Uta went to the spot on the beach they had all agreed upon previously, bringing a basket full of sandwiches with them. Uta remembered Omi liking Kappa Maki and made some for him to thank him for cheering him up. Similarly, she made Ken some sticky buns, brought beer for Yuuko and Mokona, cake for Hunny, and coffee and cookies for Anthony. She thought it strange that she made special food for certain people, and yet could not think of one for Hiiragi, but decided at the last minute to pack a slice of strawberry shortcake for him.

Perhaps having that empty City curse was a good thing, because she wouldn't have been able to prepare this much food otherwise. And Jun seemed to want to attack the picnic basket he was carrying for her already.

With her pink, two-piece swimsuit under a sheer white tunic, she decided not to let the curse bother her anymore. Today was going to be a good day... it had to be, because everyone needed it.

"We had such fun last time," she replied cheerfully. Whether she'd forgotten the sand or somehow assumed that Clow enjoyed being dunked was up for debate.

"I think your boyfriend owes you at least a walk along the beach," she said, winking, nudging Uta. "If not actual swimming."

"You're dating, right?" She just smiled brighter. "That means you owe each other. The thread that connects you pulls from both ends."

She giggled a little. "You flail like Watanuki.~"

Yuuko just laughed. "I'll show you later~!"

She listened to the girl's second statement and her gaze softened a little. Oh, to be that young again, and so uncertain.

"You don't seem clingy to me. You're spending time with everyone, not sticking to his side," she pointed out.

"Uta-chan, you're looking positively flushed," Yuuko said, her tone one of false concern. "I should get Hiiragi-kun to take you home. Where did that boy go?"

She looked around, keeping the smile from her lips.

"I don't know. Maybe we should get his opinion," she said thoughtfully.

She poked Uta in the forehead. "He probably thinks it's cute when you blush."

Yuuko laughed. "I won't get him. But I bet he'd like to spend some time with you today."

"Everyone comes to term with the City in different ways." She gave Uta a sideways glance. "When the people you care for could disappear at any moment, you have to develop coping mechanisms. Some people try not to get close to people they'll lose."

Yuuko didn't see the idea as particularly healthy, or honestly viable given the ticking that persisted when one was alone. But she saw the effects the City had on its long-term residents. That was one way that people attempted to deal.

Yuuko blinked. She'd tried to say that to people too, but no one seemed to accept the idea. She was surprised-- but gratified-- that Uta did.

"Yes, it is," she said quietly. "We're not guaranteed a tomorrow with anyone. But still we try."

She smiled at Uta.

Yuuko reached out and cupped Uta's cheek for a moment.

"Sounds like a good idea."
