log; ongoing
When; July 25th, 9:30am
Rating; G? (unless Clow and Yuuko decide otherwise)
Characters; List; more characters to be added as requested
Summary; The long awaited second beach party takes place when everyone needed to socialize most.
Log;
She thought she was going to go crazy. After the disappearance of Lacus and Kira, and then being sent to an empty City, Uta was beside herself with worry. She sent reminders to everyone she knows that the party will be today, but she wonders if people would want to even be there after that curse.
Nevertheless, Hiiragi, Jun, and Uta went to the spot on the beach they had all agreed upon previously, bringing a basket full of sandwiches with them. Uta remembered Omi liking Kappa Maki and made some for him to thank him for cheering him up. Similarly, she made Ken some sticky buns, brought beer for Yuuko and Mokona, cake for Hunny, and coffee and cookies for Anthony. She thought it strange that she made special food for certain people, and yet could not think of one for Hiiragi, but decided at the last minute to pack a slice of strawberry shortcake for him.
Perhaps having that empty City curse was a good thing, because she wouldn't have been able to prepare this much food otherwise. And Jun seemed to want to attack the picnic basket he was carrying for her already.
With her pink, two-piece swimsuit under a sheer white tunic, she decided not to let the curse bother her anymore. Today was going to be a good day... it had to be, because everyone needed it.

"For example, no protests of moderation." She points at him accusingly. "This is the beach and therefore I will drink as much as I like."
Is there actual logic in that sentence? Don't look too hard.

"Of course, of course." He settled down on the towel, handwaving dismissively. "I was going to wait for the inevitable hangover."

"What do you think of the City so far?"

"... It's completely unlike anywhere I've ever been before," he said finally, and it was true. He had been alive for nearly seven and a half centuries and spent close enough to all of that time on Cephiro. "I have no basis for comparison, so I can't form an opinion."
Oh, as soon as he said that, he wondered if that was actually the answer to the question she was really asking. It was the question he wanted to answer, in any case, so that should count for something. After a moment of consideration, he added, "What about you?"

"You're still allowed an opinion, you know," she said, but at his second question she leaned forward, wrapped her arms around her legs, and considered.
"Some of the curses are awful. It doesn't operate by any of the principles of magic that I know. Our reasons for being here are clouded at best." She sighed, and then smiled. "I like it anyway."

She didn't quite know what else she wanted to share with him. The serious reasons-- being able to see Watanuki and Doumeki again when she hadn't expected that, having Clow around, meeting people who didn't only want their wishes granted-- she hesitated to say those things. They would require too much explaining and more intimacy than she felt with the diminutive magician.
"It's like a vacation, almost," she said. "Especially on days like this."
She looked out at the ocean.

"I think I understand."

"I'd bet that you do."
She reached into the cooler and fished around for another beer, then glanced back up at him. "You sure you don't want one?"

"It is always nicer to drink with someone else," she said. Had she caught his amusement? Well, she didn't miss much. She'd see who was really amused, later.

And, besides, he'd only have one drink.
He nodded at what he said, popping the can open, and then stopped - at least mentally - and blinked. It's not as though he would be an expert, right? Although the few times he has partaken, he was certainly in good company.
"Certainly," he said, looking at the can in his hands for a moment, "It seems like it'd be a shame to drink alone."
... Sip, sip.

She'd drank alone for a time, between Clow leaving and Mokona re-awakening, and she hadn't disliked it, because alcohol was alcohol and the chemicals were just as effective. But there had been something missing, then, and she'd recognized that sometimes.
She sipped deeply.
