Mercy got to the Fountain early, wearing the deep blue dress that was one of the few she owned. She was looking forward to spending the evening with Thomas, but as always was careful to stay on her toes. Of course, she hadn't told Kyle about it. Time enough for that later.

Thomas had been kicking himself since he'd asked Mercy out. What the hell was he thinking anyway? He was an incubus. Incubi didn't date! Of course, he was anything but your typical sex vampire, but that was beside the point. He showered early, to give his hair time to dry, and showed up at the fountain...only a minute or two late in some nice jeans and white tank under a black button-shirt, only one buttoned fastened. He approached with his hands in his pockets.

"Hey there. Sorry I'm late."

Mercy smiled at him. "I think I was early actually. You look great."

She wrinkled her nose. "And I'm a little overdressed.

Okay, maybe she'd wanted to show off a little.

He chuckled. "Aside from a ball gown, I'm fairly certain it's impossible for a woman to overdress. You look amazing."

"Well, if you like it, enjoy it. I'm generally a jeans and t-shirt sort of girl," Mercy said with a smile. "But thanks."

"So... what's the plan for the evening?"

He smiled. "You know, I think the fact that it doesn't happen often makes it more attractive."

"I was thinking dinner at this nice cafe down by the carousel, then a late shoe at the theatre, unless you had something else in mind."

"Well, there you go," she said with a smile.

"Dinner and a late show sounds great. Mostly I just enjoy your company, so anything's good."

"So," he said, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a relatively new-looking keychain, "You never struck me as a 'flowers' type of girl, but I've never been one to show up to a date empty-handed." He offered her the keychain, the Delorean Motor Company logo. "Not sure you were ever interested in these cars, but they were always awesome to me."

Somehow Mercy hadn't been thinking of this as a date, but wow yeah, it probably was one. She blamed her total lack of them in the past ten years for managing to not realize this and then took an extra moment, hopefully covered by a close examination of the keychain, to try and figure out how she felt about it being a date.

Which ended up being... really kind of pleased. She liked him. He was smart and funny and always made her laugh. And his being gorgeous was a nice little perk, too.

So she smiled up at him. "A Delorean? Are you kidding? They're fascinating! I never expect to actual get my hands on a real one, but this is marvelous! Thank you.

He smiled. Yes! He'd totally gone out on a limb, and it has completely paid off.

"I, uh, had one when I was a kid. Sixteenth birthday present." He held up a hand to stop any comments before they started. "I know, but my father was made of money."

"Not literally, I hope," she said teasingly. "And hey, it's not like I was totally without access to cool cars. Bran had a Porsche. Which... I kind of crashed into a tree, but that's beside the point, right?"

He laughed and offered her his arm. "I knew I liked your style."

Mercy took his arm easily and smiled up at him. "I do try not to destroy gorgeous cars anymore. I hope that doesn't undo any style points."

"Well," he said with a smile, starting off towards the shops. "There are some cars that deserve to be destroyed."

"There are some that are really too ugly to live," Mercy agreed. "And, of course, most cars named after animals aren't worth the metal they're made of."

"Hey, not all of them are that bad."

He smirked. "Jaguar."

She laughed. "Okay, I'll grant you that. Even though the Porsche 911 wide body is really my dream car. But Jags are amazing."

"They are." He smiled. "Personally, I'd do a lot of really naughty things for a 1988 Lamborghini Countach, white."

"Ooooh, well, if you ever get one, I'd be right there in line begging you for a ride," Mercy said with a grin.

He smirked. "Baby, all the girls beg me for rides."

Mercy laughed and blushed a little. "I just bet they do. You have the whole gorgeous thing going for you."

"Hey, your forgot charming, intelligent, and witty."

"Well, of course," she said with a laugh, "But you don't necessarily pick that up from a distance. Honestly, I wouldn't actually be there without that stuff. I've found that gorgeous men are often more troubl than there worth."

He smiled, but his eyes were sad. "I may still be."
