Log; Incomplete

When; August 1st, a little after midnight
Rating; R
Characters; Marishka [livejournal.com profile] toobad_sosad and Solomon [livejournal.com profile] favoritetraitor
Summary; Time to meet Marishka's "little" pet.
Log; It occurred to her that Solomon had not met her Sweet. Strange to think of it now. Humming, she turned from where she was sitting at the window and went inside. Her things had stopped flying. That was good. It had been annoying that they had been.

Silently, she moved through the apartment until she reached his office. Going inside, she seemed to glide to his side and knelt next him. A hand reached out to touch his leg as she looked up at his face.

Family. That was what he was to her. Some didn't understand that. She would never tell them why she thought the way she did.

"Solomon is busy? Perhaps a break to see something new? You could like it a lot. And it is a new place to go."

She smiled up at him sweetly as she spoke. As if the idea she had excited her and she wanted to share it with him.

Staring down at the latest ARTEMIS reports, his senses noted the sinuous movements of her body as she entered the room. Marishka was definitely a distraction from the tedium of his paperwork.

It'd been hard lately for the Chevalier without Saya's presence in the city. Everyone was gone from his world, everyone... and the loneliness from this knowledge weighed heavily upon his heart.

It was only the touch upon his thigh, and the dulcet tones from her lips that drew him out of the darkness of his thoughts. "A break?" The green of his eyes slid over to watch the excitement play upon her beautiful features. "And what is it that you want to show me?" He leaned back in his chair, giving her his full attention.

His brow raised, wondering what it was that she was so eager for him to see. Still, he couldn't resist the temptations that she offered. Work could wait...

Laughing softly, he smiled and allowed her to pull him to his feet. "Alright. A small break then~..."

He didn't mind surprises, after all, she'd allowed him to surprise her with a night out at one of the City's newest nightclubs. (Something that had been well worth any effort on his part.) The gown they'd picked out was stunning on her, something that hadn't been missed by many of the patrons of the club.

Yes, it'd been quite alot of fun. He cast her a pleasant smile and wound his fingers around hers...

"Please, lead the way..."

The cool air felt good on his skin. He enjoyed the night and its meditative tranquility. "Hm? Is there some reason that we should rush? I'd rather like to enjoy taking our time..." After all, what did he have if not time? Time to wait for Saya's return or for his own release. Time to try to straighten out the mess that had become of his life due to human interference. His smile evaporated, thinking about Joel Goldschmidt and all the trouble he'd caused by his little experiment...

It was because of this man and the organization that had sprung from his descendant that Saya had grown up to be so confused. And because of them that his intended bride was so emotionally ripped apart...

He turned his head at her touch, his senses taking in the sweetness of her scent, and his eyes noting the way the moonlight shone in the highlights of her long blonde curls.

Time was a double edged sword for a near immortal. Without Saya's blood, it was virtually impossible that he would ever die. But what was life without the one person that gave his existence meaning? Loneliness had killed his brother Karl, the same kind of loneliness and longing that threatened to consume him...

But Marishka was one of the few people that truly understood what he was feeling, even without his having to say a word. It was because of this that he'd found himself so captivated by the childlike vampiress, and the one reason that even now he found himself with her. Solomon couldn't help but wonder what his life here in the City would have been like without someone to comfort him in his time of darkness. Would he have found himself sinking into madness like Marishka had?

Reaching over, he brushed his fingertips lightly along her cheek. His expression softening as he gazed at her. "Yes, walk with me... we have time."

Taller on his arm than his beloved Saya, Solomon was aware of every difference between the two women. One was as vivacious as the day itself, her hair spun of gold, mirrored in the colors she wore. Her demeanor playful and innocent despite her ability to kill at a whim.

But the other, the one who had so captured his heart, with her simple beauty, her short black hair and tortured soul. He didn't know why he loved Saya as he did when she wanted genocide for their kind... insisting on a feud that would only end in disaster. Away from his influence, she would continue this war until nothing existed in the world but the humans that had twisted her against her own kind.

It tore him apart knowing that with her out of his reach, there was no way to avoid the impending nightmare. Saya deserved better than a life like that... she deserved to see that the world wasn't such a harsh place. That there could be happiness if she'd only open her eyes to see it...

Gazing up at the star light above them, he listened intently to the melodic sound drifting from the vampiress' lips and tried to push the wave of despair from his thoughts once again. There was little he could do at the moment... and there was no reason to ruin Marishka's evening as well.

It was easy to listen to the pretty tone of her voice as they made their way through the darkness of the sleeping City. Her song soothed his nerves, and soon, there would be the distraction of her little 'surprise' in the Underground to focus on. Glancing at her, his mouth quirked into a slight smile. "Will I like this surprise?"

Solomon couldn't help but to smile, her playfulness infecting his mood...

Time flew when he was with her, so much so that he was hardly aware of anything else as they made their way underground. Glancing around the darkened tunnel, his voice echoed softly into the distance. "Where to? I'm eager to see what you have to show me..."

Even Solomon easily picked up the smell of blood in the distance, and for a moment he wondered if Marishka had found some way around her eating restrictions. But the sound of something large moving ahead quelled those thoughts instantly.

He stopped short as his eyes fell upon it, for nothing could have prepared him for the sight of the monstrosity filling the tunnels. Marishka pulled from his grasp, joyfully running forward to meet it. It was at times like this that she rather reminded him of Diva, but then there were many things about the vampiress that reminded him of former queen. The impulse to protect Marishka flooded through his body, but his eyes noted the way she ran into the undulating lengths of it's tentacles, her voice dipping down into a soft cooing tone as she spoke to it.

What was there to do but to stare in wonderment? "This... is...?"

"Sweet?" He blinked, still speechless by what he was seeing.

"Sweet, she calls it..." A slow soft chuckle escaped his lips and he shook his head in amazement. "Indeed, it's quite wondrous..."

His eyes followed the tentative movement of one of it's limbs as it curled towards him. Marishka's concern was touching, although quite unnecessary. There wasn't much that could hurt him, and he felt no trepidation as his feet took him closer to the razor sharp teeth and into easy reach of it's powerful tendrils. Still, it was amazing...

Reaching up, his fingertips made contact with the tip of the questing tentacle. "This is your... pet? Well, I'm afraid that there won't be room for it at the apartment... So... I suppose this means we'll need to come down to visit it on a more regular basis now...

Monsters didn't bother him. Perhaps at one time it might have, back when he was weak and human. During a time of innocence before the Great War. It was during that time that humanity had shown it's true face, one that was far more monstrous than he ever could have imagined. Not that he was guilt free from partaking in the horrors... it swept through the land devouring everyone in it's path, turning them all into 'monsters'.

No, the creature before him didn't bother him in the slightest. The three of them, although different species, proved that wondrous things did exist in the world. Miraculous things worthy of existence. Lightly touching the animal's skin, his hand trailed along a tentacle as he walked up to where Marishka stood. The thing was littered with sharp teeth amongst it's many limbs, it's huge body towering over them as three unblinking eyes followed his movements.

"Hm... yes, I do. Your pet really is quite amazing." It touched him that Marishka wished to share something with him that was precious to her, a part of her life that he'd been completely unaware of before now. She was reaching out to him with this gesture. Something that he recognized with some guilt, considering he'd kept so much from her about his own life. "Who else knows of Sweet?"

There it was, that level of trust that she was showing to him alone. His expression softened, knowing that this was not something that came easily. Marishka was alone in this world, just as he was...

Pulling into her thoughts, her mind retreated... something he'd seen many times before. She really was fragile, something that he found enticing about the vampire. It was the duality that something so beautiful and delicate, could at the very same time be so deadly. It was exciting... breathtaking in it's beauty.

His voice was a low murmur as he spoke. "I'm honored that you would share something so precious with me."

Ignoring the moving tentacles that surrounded the two of them, the Chevalier stepped even closer, and reached up to wrap his fingers through the lengths of her golden hair. Leaning in, his voice was a soft whisper against her ear. "... perhaps... you'd like for me to show you something 'special' as well?"

He paused for a moment, distracted by the closeness of her body to his. The more time that passed without his beloved, the harder it was becoming to keep the loneliness and despair at bay. His heart didn't want anyone else, but his heart was breaking from the isolation of not knowing when or even if he'd ever see Saya again.

Besides, Saya was with Hagi. What chance did he even have to win her heart away from his rival if they were together beyond his reach?

Marishka was here and alone. Perhaps in need of the same comfort in an attempt to stave off the anguish...

Feeling a tentacle brush against his body, he listened to the subdued chirrings that her pet made. Now wasn't the time to entertain such thoughts, or to give in to weaknesses. Pulling back slowly, he smiled and offered his hand to her. "Come then. Let's go somewhere else. We can come back to see Sweet another time."

Pulling her towards the way they'd come, he gazed into the darkness, expanding his awareness for any other signs of life. Satisfied that they were alone, a slow smile spread on his face. This was going to be fun.

Pulling her hand up to his lips for the briefest of moments, he gave her a mischievous grin. "Please... allow me." Not allowing for any resistance, he gave a sharp tug on Marishka's hand and with one easy movement swept her up into his waiting arms.

"I want to take you outside in the moonlight, I think. It's less restrictive for what I have in mind."

One moment he was standing still, holding the lovely vampiress easily in his arms... The next moment, the darkened tunnels of the underground became a blur of motion around them as he shifted into the fluid speed of his chiropteran form. Travel was easiest this way when time was of the essence, but Solomon more commonly preferred to take the time to enjoy the scenery around him.

It was the first time he had really shown off his abilities to Marishka. The first time he had so openly shown himself to be what he was to someone who was not from his world. But Marishka was different, deserving of a little trust. It was the least he could do for one who had adopted him when he was all alone.

As they moved, his eyes slid over to watch her reaction. This wasn't the 'surprise' that he had offered to show her, but he found himself hoping it would please her anyway.
