Summary; Mercy goes to talk Thomas into leaving the hospital and coming to the Across the Universe party.

She wasn't sure she'd have any luck at all, but Mercy decided she'd try and drag Thomas at of the hospital for a while. He had asked her to the Across the Universe party, so she thought she'd try to use that as an excuse to get him to go.

So, here she was, dressed up more than usual, clicking down the hallway to Anthony's room. She paused in the doorway. "Hey," she said softly. "How's he doing?"

She stood quickly, smiling up at him. "You're gorgeous. And yes."

He smiled and offered her his arm. "Of course I am. Let's get out of here."

Mercy took it, snuggling in a little. "We're going to have a great night."

He relaxed a bit as they walked. She was still here. That was something. He knew the way to Victrola well enough to talk was they travelled.

"So, what have you been up to?"

"Nothing much," Mercy admitted, happy enough just to stroll along with him. "Working on the bug in the garage, working at X-Factor investigations..."

"Watching the curses hurt everyone."

"Yeah. Gotta love those crazy curses." He heaved a sigh. "How's the bug coming along?"

She thought about the heap of mismatched parts in the garage and smiled. "Slow. But it gives me something to do that feels like home. That and Medea, I guess."

Yeah. Thanks Kyle. "The cat?"

"Yeah. She curls up with me at night and I just feel, well... a little less alone and out of place."

Of course. "Well, I'm glad you have her."

"Yeah." She was quiet for a moment, just enjoying the night and being with him.

"You know," He said, attempted to change the subject, "my brother has a beetle, back home."

She smiled up at him. "Yeah, you said something about that before. About it always needing work or something. Too bad it's not here."

He chuckled slightly. "Hey. The Blue Beetle. I can't remember it ever being blue, though."

"They just keep slapping on whatever pieces are available regardless of color?" she guessed.

"Everytime some demon or other nasty decides to rip it apart, yeah."

"Nice," Mercy said with a smile.

She was quiet again for a moment, then smiled up at him. "So, do you think I'm terrible for saying that tonight I'd kind of like to just pretend it's just us, no one else anywhere, just be selfish and only think of each other?"

He stopped walking, a mischievous smile on his face. "No, it's not selfish. But...why are we going to a party again?"

"To get you out of the hospital," Mercy admitted. "That's about it. And because you asked."

"And because I think it would be nice to be in your arms while we dance."

He nodded. "Okay. So, we go for a dance. Then, maybe we head somewhere else?"

"I'd like that," she said. "One dance, then just us somewhere."

His eyes flickered again for a moment. "So would I."

"So, just how much farther is this Victrola anyway?" she asked.

"Right about..." He pointed as they rounded a corner. "Here."

"Nice," she said admiringly. "Burlesque club? Not quite what I was expecting."
