Log: Ongoing

When; Saturday, December 12, 5:30pm
Rating; PG? PG-13 for mistletoe??
Characters; friends and acquaintances to the Pevensies, Caspian, and Reepicheep
Summary; Moving into a new home calls for a housewarming party.
Log;
Welcome to the new house(s). It might have been easy finding the place by the single lamp post out front whose light never goes out. Now that you're here, your Narnian hosts invite you to a night of fine food and delicious drink with friends in order to give their home that lived in feeling. If you're up to a dance please hit the floor with your swinging moves. If you'd rather sit then feel free to browse a book while you're at it. Hungry for more? That's what the kitchen is for. If the weather isn't too cold for you there's always fresh air on the balcony. There are festive lights strewn about in the spirit of the season and some sprigs hanging above...which may or may not have been put there on purpose. Watch your step for the resident cat and if you look hard enough you might spot the (temporary) resident pig too.

[ooc: Even if they didn't invite your character directly, basically anyone who is friends with the Narnians or are on good terms with them can come. Assume an invitation was made or maybe they saw Susan's post. White Witches obviously excluded 8| The few buildings towards the back of the villa are not open/built yet so the party is pretty much taking place within the two buildings towards the front and on the balcony!]

If her smile falters a little at the realization of just how that lamppost probably appeared, Rosella does a magnificent job of hiding it. It's better not to think too much on it, and Caspian seems so pleased with it that she wants desperately to believe that no harm came from acquiring it. And if she doesn't ask more into it, she'll never have to know for certain either way.

It's much easier to focus on the story of Narnia, instead. "How very strange! Is that why it's called the Lantern Waste, then? Because of the lantern that never goes out?"

Ordinarily, she might've been entertained by the antics of a plastic boar and hippo. But ordinarily, people aren't hospitalized by curses, either. So she's glad that the subject seems to be moving on to another.

"It lives and breathes?" She knows full well that fire needs air to survive, but somehow she doubts that's quite what Caspian meant by the phrase. "Then it must be magic? In any case, perhaps yours isn't the same lantern, but it might very well have come from that one, if it's so special. Or been lit by it, for that matter."

How 'bout some mistletoe growing overhead?

"I'll be certain to, when I see her. I was hoping to catch all my hosts, at some point or another, and congratulate them on their lovely home," she answers with a smile. "But it seems you've found me first, instead of the other way around."

"Oh, yes, speaking of the hunt, do you plan to move your horse here, too? I don't think I saw a stable outside..."

Rosella trails off, shifting absently as the sprig of mistletoe finishes growing above their heads. She's been through enough mistletoe encounters today to recognize the vaguely uncomfortable, insistent sort of tugging sensation that immediately precedes them, and that is the only reason why she has enough time to squeak out a quick, "I'm sorr--!" before she's silenced by her lips pressing against Caspian's.

Fortunately, Rosella is turning into a regular pro at handling this curse, and all the implications that come with it. It's only a curse, it doesn't mean anything other than that an untimely sprig of mistletoe happened to grow above their heads, and no decent person would hold it against her for happening. It's made her day so much easier, not having to agonize over all those potential worries. She'll save that for the sorts of kisses that aren't due to a curse, of course.

She is thankful for the hand on her shoulder, though, since she did end up a bit off-balance by the sudden pull forward, and it's rather hard to shuffle around to keep one's balance when one is currently engaged in kissing someone. So she simply stays very still, her eyes closed, and waits for the effects of the mistletoe to end.

Oh, yes, and she might spare a thought to note that it's a rather nice kiss, too. Since it is.

While Caspian has chosen to alleviate the awkwardness through speaking, Rosella's first instinct is to tip her head back and search out the offending piece of greenery that prompted the whole kiss in the first place. And sure enough, there it is, sprouting from the ceiling in exactly the wrong place at the wrong time--so when she makes a face, it's quite obviously at the mistletoe, and not at Caspian.

"That does seem to be the curse of the day," she says at last, her cheeks a little flushed but her voice steady enough. "And at least I didn't knock you over, I suppose. Really, I'm so very sorry."

Of course, the prudent thing to do here would be to move away entirely, and thus get out from under the mistletoe's proximity, but defusing any potential awkwardness seems a bit more important than retreating to the other side of the room at the moment. If anything, such a retreat would only add to the awkwardness--and it'd be terribly rude, besides.

"Only the once!" she protests, a little too quickly, and tries her best at a look of annoyance that turns out appearing more sheepish than anything else. It would help a great deal if she could keep the smile from tugging at the corners of her lips, but she can't. Really, it's just so ridiculous--and Caspian's laugh ends up setting off her own.

"Oh, this curse," she giggles, shaking her head as she covers her face with one hand. "I remember I had such a miserable time of it last year, but really, it's just plain silly." And nothing to be miserable over at all, she adds silently.

At that, her smile splits into a grin, and she murmurs back conspiratorially, "That's exactly why I've been avoiding mine all day."

Yes, just so. She may not have avoided any of her friends the whole day, even knowing the mistletoe was out and about to cause mischief among them, but she at least had the good sense to avoid her horse for the day.
