Log: Ongoing
When; Friday Night
Rating; PG-13 maybe?
Characters; Rain (
livingmyths)and Connor (
itsnoteveryday)
Summary; Rain and Connor Go On a Date
Log;
Connor had said he would meet her at the Library after she was done working to go on a date. Which she couldn't help thinking would be a very bad idea. She'd only ever been on a date with Mat and she'd nearly messed everything all up. Would have if he hadn't been so kind.
Still, Connor seemed kind as well and she'd been honest with him about how bad she was at everything, so at least he wouldn't be surprised?
Anyway... She'd left Gage at home and was sitting on the steps of the Library as she waited.

And he'd said no. He couldn't believe he'd said no. In retrospect, it was the nice thing to do, the right thing to do. But a really hot girl offered to have sex with him and he'd said no.
So he asked her on a date. He had no idea what they would do, hadn't really planned beyond wearing a nice new jacket and scarf with his cleanest pants, and buying her some flowers. Wildflowers, because he didn't really see her as a roses kinda girl.
Or was she?
Anyway, he walked up to the steps of the Library and waved.
"'lo, Rain. Have a good day?"

He held out the flowers. How she could look that good in jeans and a fleece jacket, he'll never know, except - did he over dress? Christ, he should have figured out what they were doing before now?
"Um, these are for you, didn't really know what your favorites were, so I got a few and mixed 'em up."

Rain hadn't spent any time deciding what to wear. With her entire wardrobe consisting of two pairs of jeans, some t-shirts, and a nice sweatshirt, it wasn't as if she'd have had much to choose from anyway.
Well, there were the incredibly fanciful dresses that Mat had bought for her when they played fairy princess and he wanted to get her something pretty, but those weren't to wear for reals.
"Thank you, Connor," she said softly.

"So..." He rocked back and forth on his feet a bit. "...did you want to get something to eat somewhere, or go see a movie, or..."
Yeah, he really should have planned this better.

She vaguely remembered seeing a movie when she was little, maybe at one of the shelters, but other than that she'd never seen one. As for eating out, well, she'd been once or twice with Mat and had tea out with Tony, but other than that, well... she ate pretty simply at home.
She knew she was going to have trouble with this.

"Well, let's get somethin' to eat and we can go from there, yeah?"
He stated to walk off, then stopped, and offered her his arm. Damn, he'd almost forgotten. He knew he should have snuck a cheat-sheet onto his network device.

Please let her have a preference, the last thing Connor wanted to do was end up picking some place she didn't like. Oh, crap, she wasn't a vegetarian, was she? Not that there was anything wrong with that just...

She hoped. And tried to smile as if she knew what they were going to have.

He gave her arm a little squeeze. "Know just the place, then."
They walked a little farther and he realized that conversation? Was part of dating.
"So, what do you do at the Library?" It was important to sound interested in what the girl did, right?

He scratched his head a little, trying to figure out the mechanics of a singing building.

Belatedly, Connor realized he just accused her of being crazy. "I mean, I'm sure they do, but does anyone else talk about it - like the way they hear it?"

They approached the restaurant and Connor, wonder of wonders, remembered to open the door for her.

He let the hostess lead them to a small booth off to the side.
