Log;

Getting out of the City proper was a good idea, best idea someone could have suggested actually. Shalimar was grateful that Kirk actually didn't mind the outdoors, staying around a bunch of people would have really gotten to her right now. At least she'd gotten most of her anger and sadness out last night, that was something, even if her method had left her looking a bit beaten up. But that was one of the nice things about being around Kirk, he wouldn't make a big deal about her being slightly injured, which made it easier to relax a bit.

Not that her mind didn't wander to what had happened yesterday, it did. Even as they walked together looking for a good camping spot her mind was somewhere else, trying to suppress a bunch of different instincts and thoughts that were driving her nuts. So she walked in silence hoping that he'd say something to snap her attention away from the crap going on right now.

"What was the meditation room like?" he asked, pounding the tent stakes into the frozen ground. Shalimar could probably do a better job of it but Kirk would be damned if he would ask for her help now.

"A pond? Could you go fishing?" Kirk liked that kind of pond. Just a regular pond to look at though sounded kind of... boring. "Like... a vegetable garden?"

"What good is a pond without fish," he murmured, although he figured she could probably hear it. "And no, I don't meditate."

"I think I would just get bored," he said, shaking his head. He could understand why people meditated, but he knew it definitely wasn't for him.

"What other routines do you have?"

"I think I'll pass on the meditation," Kirk said, shaking his head. "I'd rather take my bike for a ride to clear my head."

He thought that sounded like a pretty good routine. He tried to imagine Shalimar teaching and found it was oddly easy to.

"You liked teaching the classes, didn't you?" he asked.

"No, just the one side... or the two sides agreeing," he said. He couldn't imagine what it must be like to have that problem, he had seen how Spock struggled with it too.

"Have you thought about doing that here too?" he asked her. "Teaching some classes?"

"I admire you for how well you deal with it, Shalimar," he said. Kirk remembered just how difficult it had been to deal with the animal side when he had taken Shalimar's abilities.

"I should have known better than to compliment her," Kirk thought, resisting the urge to roll his eyes or shake his head.

"I'm glad he was able to help you then," was all he said.

"He also helped you a lot," he said, shaking his head. "It's hard to let go of that and forget that."

"I like that you're not so jaded about it," Kirk said with another shrug of his shoulders. "I admire that."

"Well, I definitely use you at times," Kirk said, kissing along her neck. "But I hope you know I'm not just using you."

"Mmm, I know you do," he said, biting down a bit on her neck. "Sometimes you use me to the point where I can't walk anymore. Not that I mind."

"You are more gentle, sometimes," he said, holding her against him. "And come on, not even to sleep? We can share a sleeping bag for warmth."
