Summary; The collection begins as 5 residents of the City vanish to be unwitting victims for a macabre and most deadly social event.

Log;

Staring out into the darkness of the night, Rido Kuran smiled in eager anticipation of what was to come. The City had been too quiet, and with his intended bride's recent escape from his reach, he needed to find something to assuage the frustration and inconvenience that this caused him. It'd just been good timing that he had such an occasion planned already, a dinner in recognition of his newfound friendship with the Master.

The guests had been invited, and a suitable location found in the underground that could serve well as a dinner hall of sorts. All that was left, was the entertainment...

The vampire's eyes scanned the city as he took a leisurely walk amidst it's citizens. They were all potentials as far as he could see, weak things who's only value lay in how they might be of use to the Pureblood's desires. It had always been like this, even back home. The City was only different in so far that it offered more variety, and it's people were less willing to offer themselves to him. Not that it mattered to the vampire in the slightest what they wanted. All that mattered was that he could enjoy himself for one evening, reveling in the blood and fear of his victims.

A new acquaintance by the name of Aion was likewise moving through the city, assisting in acquiring enough food for the event. The Master was too unreliable in his current ravenous state as far as helping out with this particular chore. But with Aion's help, it was unnecessary to involve him any more than he already was...

Soon they could begin the real fun. The hunt was just the start...

Oh shit. This was going to be bad.

Still...

She moved forward, the preternatural quickness one of the few advantages being a shifter gave her and did a perfect spinning forward kick, aiming straight for his head. For humans such kicks were useless, too showy and not truly workable in a fight, but for someone with her speed and slight extra strength they could be massively effective.

Mercy was thinking some pretty darn strong mechanics' power words now. She'd hit perfectly and nothing. She was screwed.

She shifted into her coyote form instantly, struggling out of her clothes, and took off towards the woods as fast as her four feet could carry her. This was bad. This was really bad.

Bats. Why did it have to be bats?

She ran, feeling like her heart would pump right out of her ribs from the fear. Maybe if she could just get into a thick enough area of woods...

Mercy yelped and struggled furiously, but soon had to stop or be choked to death. She subsided, whimpering and panting and utterly terrified.

She growled at him.

Or tried to. Mostly it came out as a series of whimpers, her eyes wide with terror.

What was going to happen to her?

No way in hell was she going to shift. No. Way. In. Hell.

That got a true growl out of her.

She yelped as his fingernail sliced into her. She knew changing back would be the wrong choice, but if he kept cutting into her she wouldn't have much choice at all.

Still... maybe he needed her in one piece more than he needed her human.

At least she prayed to God he did. And refused to change.

She howled as his finger sunk in deeper, feeling it slice through the muscles of her shoulder.

He wasn't going to stop. Mercy believed that now. He was willing to continue this until she shifted or until she was dead.

So she shifted back to human, her howl changing to a more human whimper, shivering in the cold and with the pain. "Please stop," she begged.

She shuddered under his touch, but was too scared to pull away. She did dare to sneak her left hand up to cover the wound made in her right shoulder.

Mercy wanted desperately to protest, but instead she found her eyes closing and everything going black.
