Day 2: Clubs clubs clubs! They want you to join! Honor societies, sororities, fraternities, geek campaigns, magic circles, everyone's got something to offer and they want you to join their ranks...if you're good enough anyway.

The Club Event on Wednesday is an egalitarian event put on by various organizations from all the schools. This is where you come in! You may have your character form a club or become a member of one--or try to become a member of one. Clubs can be as easy to get into or as hard to get into as you like. Clubs can have a set of requirements for entry or a single test characters need to perform for acceptance. Make it as welcoming or as elite as you'd like. There will be music and food and entertainment venues in the Square courtesy of the Deities. Sign up is not necessary for attendance, so even unaffected characters can crash the party. You are free to have your characters hold their own private promotions parties as well in the spirit of sorority, fraternity, or general school rivalry.

One of the curses that had transformed the City landscape, and the Square had become no exception, though now it was at the hands of cursed citizens, not the deities or curses themselves. They had placed the schools there, but the students and teachers set up the club fair. Banners and colorful posters lined the rows, with volunteers from the clubs shouting and waving anything they could to attract potential members to their tables. Teachers walk amongst them to assure things run smoothly, and a glimpse of a headmaster or principal every now and then keeps everything in place.

Where's your booth? Looking for something to occupy your time? Got a hobby you hope has a group? New, up and coming club? Established sorority? There's something here for everyone, it seems.


[rules! everyone's welcome, so come one, and come all, but please label your comments! as usual, use "open" or "closed to ___", and specify time if you'd like, ("set up", "during the fair", etc.), but we'd also like to ask that clubs label their comments and put all their activity in that thread- it's easier for everyone to manage things and follow that way! So, say- if I throw up a Grell comment for the poetry club, I'll put "POETRY CLUB" in the title and everyone involved in that would just comment beneath that. Of course, you're still free to have open and individual threads, too- Go wild!]

[The banner reads, in the neatest calligraphy possible, Future Leaders & Ladies of the City. And behind it, a few girls who'd volunteered or been roped in to watching the booth that banner belonged to.

Hazuki Mina, 12th grade, and transfer student who still wears her old uniform (http://i37.tinypic.com/23wkx1f.gif), looked... well, not thrilled to be there. Deliciously blank. And giving the same lines to everyone who showed an interest.

Needless to say, she has ulterior motives for being in the FLLC in the first place.]

[Allison Cameron is a quiet wanderer in the fair, drifting from booth to booth curiously, though so far she hasn't signed up for anything. She pauses at the FLLC table, looking it over and trying to puzzle out what exactly this club is for.]

[This booth is one of those really nice ones, with an awning that has the banner We are the Girls Going Places strung across the way, as well as a music system hidden under the table to play the latest catchy pop song at passersby, whether they like that kind of music or not.

Merry is standing behind the booth setting out flyers and the guest list on the table. Pictures of the cute ice cream sandwiches (http://blogs.smarter.com/blogs/finalpic.jpg) (that Riff helped her make) and cold sodas they're selling are also going up-- because hey, a club has to make funds here and there.

[Hazama just milled about for the better part of the day looking at all the booths for the various clubs. Judo, music, Dungeons and Dragons, there were quite a large variety being proposed though one did catch his attention, and only because he noticed that it was being run by students of his school. Smirking like the smug bastard that he was, Hazama walked up to the booth and called out in cheery voice which didn't go along with the self-satisfied smile on his face.]

[It's a simple booth, with a banner that reads "SELF-DEFENSE CLUB" in big, dark letters, and a little cat sketched near the bottom. About eight meters behind the stand is a target nailed to a pole, and on the table is a box of twenty or so darts. They were the closest he had to knives, and he wasn't dumb enough to bring those where a teacher would see them, anyway. A little stuffed cat is casually draped over the box's edge.

Kanone watches the passing people with a smirk, trying to look friendly but not really advertising his club. His plan is to avoid anyone he sees from Ohtori (due to his less-than-pleasant experience there) and make mental notes of those he finds suitable to join the self-defense club.]

Hi...any luck so far? I got the posters up...they're subtle, promise.

[As if to prove his point, he hands Kanone one of the extra posters. They're similar to the banner on the booth, except they tell people who are interested to come to the club fair. Also, the little cat he's sketched on the bottom is in a karate outfit.]

[Buffy is having a bad day. She broke her alarm clock this morning, her locker door and the cold water tap in the bathroom. Plus she's dealing with the strong desire to hit something. Hard. Of course that could be because the cheerleaders are driving her crazy. The routine isn't that hard. She wanders up to the booth and stands there, contemplating whether she should actually approach it or not. She's wearing a mini skirt and a tee shirt that says Cheer Team. She doesn't look like she could defend herself from anything more than a rabid cheer rival.]

So where do I sign up? What are you going to teach me?

[The booth is a vision. Exotic plants are arranged artfully all over, providing bursts of color and a delicate scent that complements the delicious aroma wafting from a beautiful pot of tea. Tiny flower-shaped dishes are full of different mixtures of tea leaves, each smelling more intoxicating than the last. A sign above reads, in masterfully executed calligraphy, "OHTORI ACADEMY TEA CLUB".

Iroh sits serenely at the table, sipping a cup of tea with a satisfied smile, totally oblivious to the strange looks he's getting from real students.]

[Penny, eager to see what kinds of clubs are being offered by the various schools, wandered down to have a look around as soon as her office hours were over. She knows Iroh from her days at Ohtori and has tried to keep in contact with the affable cafeteria worker.

She apparently doesn't find the fact that a cafeteria worker has a club booth at all strange.]

[Thanks to the book and the fact that Rudy actually has a knack for being rather stealthy when he wants to be, Justin may not notice his favourite antagonist's approach to the booth. Or at least, not until one of the white pawns is shifted forward in a classic opening move, making a soft click against the wood of the board as it comes to rest in its new square.]

Tarrant is currently setting up a mannequin beside the table that holds one of his best jacket pieces he's done--as well as a few hats and what-not; He adjusts his sign-up sheet, his stack of photocopied literature, places a pen by them, and sits down. He waits for a time, just watching people go by...then thinks to get on his homework, burying himself in a textbook]

[Three days back to school is exactly the length of time in which the excitement of a new school year has worn off, but the chaos of getting settled in again has not. And as much as she enjoys the independence of being on her own at school, Rosella has always generally disliked the feeling of packing up her life (as measured in her belongings) and moving back--which is why her things are still only half-unpacked, and why she is currently putting as much distance between herself and her room as possible. With an iced latte in one hand and a light sweater tied around her shoulders, she roams through the crowd of people at the fair and immerses herself in the noise, looking for interesting booths and familiar faces alike.]

[It's a well-known fact that Thomas Maximoff is not a team player, so he's not here in search of a club to join. However, sitting around in his room sulking about the unfairness of this all isn't really his style-- at least, not once his twin is no longer there to listen to his complaints-- so he's headed out to meet the people, as it were.

Rosella definitely catches his eye, and he pauses to watch her walk along for a minute.]
