Back to School You Fool || Log || OPEN

When; Wednesday, the 25th, all day
Rating; various
Characters; OPEN
Summary;
Day 2: Clubs clubs clubs! They want you to join! Honor societies, sororities, fraternities, geek campaigns, magic circles, everyone's got something to offer and they want you to join their ranks...if you're good enough anyway.

The Club Event on Wednesday is an egalitarian event put on by various organizations from all the schools. This is where you come in! You may have your character form a club or become a member of one--or try to become a member of one. Clubs can be as easy to get into or as hard to get into as you like. Clubs can have a set of requirements for entry or a single test characters need to perform for acceptance. Make it as welcoming or as elite as you'd like. There will be music and food and entertainment venues in the Square courtesy of the Deities. Sign up is not necessary for attendance, so even unaffected characters can crash the party. You are free to have your characters hold their own private promotions parties as well in the spirit of sorority, fraternity, or general school rivalry.

One of the curses that had transformed the City landscape, and the Square had become no exception, though now it was at the hands of cursed citizens, not the deities or curses themselves. They had placed the schools there, but the students and teachers set up the club fair. Banners and colorful posters lined the rows, with volunteers from the clubs shouting and waving anything they could to attract potential members to their tables. Teachers walk amongst them to assure things run smoothly, and a glimpse of a headmaster or principal every now and then keeps everything in place.

Where's your booth? Looking for something to occupy your time? Got a hobby you hope has a group? New, up and coming club? Established sorority? There's something here for everyone, it seems.

[rules! everyone's welcome, so come one, and come all, but please label your comments! as usual, use "open" or "closed to ___", and specify time if you'd like, ("set up", "during the fair", etc.), but we'd also like to ask that clubs label their comments and put all their activity in that thread- it's easier for everyone to manage things and follow that way! So, say- if I throw up a Grell comment for the poetry club, I'll put "POETRY CLUB" in the title and everyone involved in that would just comment beneath that. Of course, you're still free to have open and individual threads, too- Go wild!]

[It's only after they're long since safely away that Rosella lets her face split into a grin, choking outright laughter back into a quietly amused snicker.]

Babe?

[But then, as she turns her eyes toward her rescuer, intending to thank him properly, her brow furrows slightly in thought. There's something familiar about him, isn't there? She can't quite place it, can't quite pin down exactly what it is yet...but there's something about him, and she feels like she ought to know it.]

Let's stick with "Rosella" for the moment.

If I'd known that... [He probably would've called her babe anyway. Let's face it. She's cute and he's incorrigible. He offers a hand with mock solemnity.]

Tommy.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-08-26 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
[She shifts her coffee cup over to her non-dominant hand and then firmly shakes the one he offers, brief but confident. That variety of handshake is just one of those little quirks one picks up when one's father controls a business empire, apparently.]

Tommy. It seems I owe you a coffee.

[Yes, there's something definitely familiar about him, but what is it? The name, the hair...there's something to it, and she can't quite put her finger on what.]
team_sociopath: (][you're just jealous)

[personal profile] team_sociopath 2010-08-26 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Sweet. Busy now? I could use some caffeine.

[He's just a totally normal Cutler's student. Nothing to see here. Really. Actually, it's probably for the best that he's wearing a t-shirt today, the school uniform kind of enhances that royal family portrait look.]

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-08-26 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Not at all busy, now that I've been rescued from the overzealous business majors.

[She grins, motioning for him to lead the way, and keeps pace at his side when he does.]

I've never been much for business, myself. My parents are still entertaining hopes that I'll come around and develop an interest in it, but I just find it utterly boring.
team_sociopath: (][smiiiirk)

[personal profile] team_sociopath 2010-08-26 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[He nods, hands shoved in his pockets as they stroll along towards a small coffee shop, not too far away but removed enough to offer a breath of fresh air from their respective academic prisons.]

They're looking for someone to keep up the family business? [He laughs a little.] That why they've packed you off to-- which school are you at, anyway? Trinity?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-08-26 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohtori. I'm the last hope, since my brother's more interested in pursuing the life of a brilliant chemist. [Though a soft note does enter her tone at that, and it's clear from even just those few words that her brother, whoever he may be, is important to her.] They're not overbearing about it, though, which is nice.
team_sociopath: (][so what if I blew up a building)

[personal profile] team_sociopath 2010-08-26 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah? Stuck at Cutler's, myself. Cool that they're not like, forcing you, though. Or your brother. [Being in line for the throne is a little different, but in a sense it's a family business, too.]

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-08-26 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Cutler's, huh? So you're a private school brat, too. [She means it entirely good-naturedly, though.] How about you? Any big plans in store for your future?
team_sociopath: (][this is my serious face)

[personal profile] team_sociopath 2010-08-26 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[He rolls his eyes, shifting a little, not quite showing how uncomfortable a question it is.] Nothing at the moment. My family'd be happier if I was focused on being a respectable, cultured gentleman but I get by, long as I behave.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-08-26 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you generally misbehave, then? [She raises her eyebrows, a grin tugging at the corners of her lips.] Maybe I'd better follow you up to the counter and pay myself, rather than trusting that you'll bring my change back.
team_sociopath: (][done and done)

[personal profile] team_sociopath 2010-08-26 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Not at all. Besides, I'm in good standing at the moment, anyway. [He laughs easily, though the punchline's not obvious.]

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-08-26 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
And I'm not? [Her eyes may narrow a little at that, though her grin doesn't waver.]
team_sociopath: (][you really think so?)

[personal profile] team_sociopath 2010-08-26 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. No, [he amends, a few stray strands of white falling over his eyes has he shakes his head.] My brother got in a bit of a scrape a while back, that's all.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-08-26 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I understand perfectly. [She nods slightly, not entirely sure he isn't making an excuse at the moment, but willing to believe the part about good standing shifting between siblings. It's much the same in her household, after all, at least as far as attention goes--it's usually one or the other, but rarely both at once.]

Well, why don't you go scrape up two coffees, and then you can tell me all about it? [And she hands over some money, more than enough to cover two drinks, to emphasize the point.]
team_sociopath: (][sup guys)

[personal profile] team_sociopath 2010-08-26 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[He flashes her a smile as he heads off-- and he's had plenty of time and coaching to perfect a winning smile. A few minutes later he comes back with two cups, having done his best to guess at what her first one was, and hands one over. Along with the change.]

See? Totally trustworthy.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-08-27 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
I do see. [And she's tempted to tell him to just keep it, but wait, no, that's not the right way to go about being inconspicuous at all. So she takes it back and returns it to her wallet, accepting her own coffee gratefully.]

So your brother's the troublemaker of the family, is he?
team_sociopath: (][don't even try to keep up)

[personal profile] team_sociopath 2010-08-27 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Much as he complains about insufficient pocket money, he wouldn't take it if she offered; he's not badly off my any means.]

Oh yeah, he's a scoundrel. [He grins again, shakes his head.] Nah, really... it was more of a wrong place, wrong time kinda thing. [Wrong kind of hot blond his bed. Cough.]

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-08-27 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
How unfortunate for him. Mine's the quiet twin of the pair, which I suppose makes me the scoundrel by comparison.
team_sociopath: (][oh and by the way)

[personal profile] team_sociopath 2010-08-27 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Funny thing is, Billy usually is too. [He shrugs and sips his coffee.]

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-08-27 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Which makes this two scoundrels sitting down for coffee. It almost sounds like the start of a bad joke.

[She pauses, peering at him a little more closely as her thoughts turn over in her head. Tommy. Billy. That familiar nagging feeling.]

Are you from overseas, by any chance?
team_sociopath: (][cough cough subtlety cough)

[personal profile] team_sociopath 2010-08-27 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
[He raises his eyebrows slightly. Right, they've got a story for this. A stupid story, because he doesn't know what language they speak over there either.]

Yeah. Swiss.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-08-27 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
I am, too. Not Swiss, I mean, but from overseas. I have family around here, my grandparents, but everyone else is an ocean away.

[She seems reasonably accepting of the story, though she's still looking a little thoughtful.]
team_sociopath: (][easily distracted)

[personal profile] team_sociopath 2010-08-27 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
That a good thing or a bad one?

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-08-27 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
A little of both. I like the independence of being over here, but the shopping isn't nearly as good. And don't even get me started on the cafeteria food.
