And what is a City overrun by Venice flair without its masque?

Come sundown, the overly-lit Palace, suffering under a sea of orchids and a white-and-gold palette, will be welcoming the ladies and gentlemen of our fair City as its guests to this year’s Valentine’s Day ball. Have no fear, the Palace staff has been given notice to help newcomers dock their gondolas!

Should they lack their own, ladies will be served a dance card, white cape and masque upon arrival. Gentlemen without can also be helped find a suitablemask.

Guests will not be introduced by name, but by their choice of pseudonym; instead, they can play the guessing game until masks are formally removed at midnight, giving their time, and maybe their hearts to some hopeful stranger.

jesusing_clown and a cohort of waiters will produce the evening’s treats;

taravata will be attending on any task that calls for strong arms and keen balance;

risetwice’s patisserie will be providing breads, cakes, and the evening’s tort; and

eagleofautozam has promised sweets and candied souvenirs.

"We hardly want to be boring, Cherie."

He abhors boredom and goes to great lengths to avoid it. This is the perfect distraction.

Laughing softly, she shakes her head and tugs at his hand.

"My life seems to be a lot more interesting when you're around."

"Of course it is. I'm a very interesting creature," Myrnin grins. "Where too, My Dear?"

"You have your moments."

Tugging once again, she nods towards the group of people dancing.

Myrnin is game for dancing. It's not something he does often but he's absolutely capable of doing so. He nods at her and takes the lead, twirling her onto the dance floor.

"Let's hope tonight will be one of them. I should probably start racking up the points after my brief absence."

It's a rare moment when she can show some of her inherent grace, but on the floor, she's quite a skilled dancer.

"You make it sound like a game, Myrnin."

Myrnin does well because of his vampire grace and the many years he's had to develop his dancing ability. It's nice to have a partner that is skilled as well.

He shrugs and frowns a bit in answer to her question. "In a way I suppose all interactions are games."

Her gaze slides off to the side, clearly uneasy. Really, there's nothing she can say to that.

He watches her for a moment, curious as he dances with her. "I've upset you."

"I'm fine."

It's a rote and routine answer, but she manages a faint, polite smile.

"Clearly."

He sighs and twirls her in a lazy circle. "I should have worn the tutu."

She follows his lead without hesitation, the motion something she can do without thinking.

"You don't have the legs for a tutu."

He gives a dramatic gasp, pretending for a moment to be terribly offended.

"And here I thought I'd give Greta Garbo a run for her money."

Alright, she can't help but laugh a little at that.

"Knobby knees."

He considers this a moment before responding, still dancing as they do. He's pleased to hear her laugh though.

"I suppose I can't really argue with that but my calves and thighs are fantastic."

Or at least in his opinion.

Smiling a bit, she nods and steps back a bit more, continuing on in the steps of the dance.

"They're nice."

"Of course if you wore my tutu I could appreciate your legs."

He's teasing, flirting with her while they dance.

"You can appreciate my legs without the tutu being necessary."

When he tries, he can be rather charming, and don't think it doesn't affect her. She might even be smiling a little more thanks to the flirting.

"But who wants to stick to what's truly necessary?"

Of course he can! Queen Lizzie the first wasn't exactly easy to bed. He's very grateful for the smiling though.
