Summary; Today is Katara's birthday, and Tyr has arranged for a surprise birthday party at the Jasmine Dragon.
Log; It hadn't been easy, preparing for a secret birthday party for Katara. Iroh had spent a few days simply practicing various Water Tribe recipes, trying to get them as accurate (and tasty!) as he could. He also overhauled the inside of the shop, decorating it in the colors and symbols of her home culture.

Maybe it was a little over the top for a young woman he had essentially been enemies with, but Iroh was eager to put that in the past once and for all.

Besides, he loved a good party.


The various foods prepared and laid out, the tea brewed and waiting... Iroh looked around with satisfaction. Now he just needed his guests.

[Katara didn't know why Tyr wanted to treat her at the Jasmine Dragon of all places. At first, she almost thought he wanted her to fix things with Iroh and Zuko since today's her birthday, but she placed that thought bubble aside. Today is a good day despite having confirmed that Aang left the City. No, for the sake of the people who left and those that are still here, Katara will make sure this is a good day.

Entering the tea shop upon Tyr's insistence (and oddly enough, even Suki's), the expression she first had was that of surprise. Complete surprise. Did she just enter another world? Did she go home? So much blue and Water Tribe decorations that she felt this nostalgia pierce through her lonely heart.

So beautiful that her clear blue eyes took in the sight slowly but surely. And then her gaze landed on the people present and she couldn't deny the fact that she knew most faces. That this made her smile because she's now gradually realizing what exactly is going on here that she has to contain her tears of joy.

Familiar faces of friends and loved ones. Speaking of which--] Tyr, this is... [And to Iroh:] But, General Iroh...

[ The fact she was speechless said everything. And, in fact, Tyr couldn't say he was any less surprised. It was even better than he thought it would be - and he had high hopes. He was glad nothing had been spoiled, nothing had gotten out, and most of all, that everything and everyone had come together to make this all happen.

He smiled brightly at Katara, resting his hand on her back. ]

[The overwhelming happiness and the flood of emotions surging within her had her throwing herself in his arms in a flurry of moments. They say actions speak louder than words and right now, she couldn't even say a single one. At the back of her mind, she doesn't want to because she knows she can't express just how much she's so happy right now with mere words.]

Oh, Tyr... thank you. [Not just thanks to him, but of course, to all people here (that she'll take time in thanking later).]

He smiled as he watched her and Tyr.]

[Upon hearing Iroh's voice, she lets go of Tyr and turns her attention to him. They might have had a lot of differences, but for him to lend his tea shop like this...

She offers him a gentle smile.] Thank you, General Iroh... I really don't know what else to say.

[ He stumbled back slightly from her sudden embrace and her happiness is contagious. Wrapping his arms around her, he closed the distance between them. ]

Don't mention it, Katara... You deserve this - we all think so.

[ With that, he turned his head to the side to kiss her hair. Usually he wouldn't be so intimate in public, but for her? Today? He would be. ]

[The best present she could ever have is the fact that all her friends - all the people who matter to her in this place - are here celebrating with her. Tightly holding Tyr, she almost doesn't want to let go.]

[Hey Katara! Have a Suki, who is very happy to see you. She has something in her hand, but that will come after the hug, because before she even says anything, her arms are around Katara, pulling the other girl into a hug. There was a big smile on Suki's face as she hugged the girl who was a sister to her, and when she pulled away she was still smiling.]

[She pulled away from the hug and presented Katara with a poorly wrapped gift. Inside was just a little charm of a fan. It wasn't a lot, but it was a little something to show that Katara was family.]

[Katara didn't mind how poorly wrapped the gift is. What she noticed is the thought that came along with the gift. Receiving it from Suki, she has a fond smile on her face.]

Yeah... [Katara's so happy--it's...nice to see. Rita glances around at the decorations, which even she admits aren't bad.]

[Aldo had come early to help set up, and now he's just lingering, really. He'd wanted to come meet Katara, but... well, now he's wondering if this was really the right thing to do. It was her birthday party.]

[Seeing the awkward man lingering, Katara blinks and approaches him. He looks familiar. She's definitely sure she had seen him before.]

Hey there. Aren't you... [Hmm. Wait, it's coming to her now.] ... Ted's lover?

[Aldo's face just flushes red at that assumption. It wasn't like that! Oh dear if Ted had heard that-] O-oh, no! I-It was a curse.

[ After arriving with Katara and enjoying his time with her, he decided he should probably, probably let go of her for a while so she could mingle with the other guests herself without him.

That and he wanted to try some of the Water Tribe dishes... He took Katara out to eat plenty of times, but never had food quite like this. It was different... He sat down at one of the tables with a bowl of soup and ate it slowly. ]

I wonder what's in this...

[Sitting beside Tyr, Ted is enjoying the get together. They really did a fantastic job with the place. Hearing his best friend's thoughts, Ted follows his gaze.]

I wonder, too... I mean I've tasted some dishes with fish but not quite like this.
