Summary; Today is Katara's birthday, and Tyr has arranged for a surprise birthday party at the Jasmine Dragon.
Log; It hadn't been easy, preparing for a secret birthday party for Katara. Iroh had spent a few days simply practicing various Water Tribe recipes, trying to get them as accurate (and tasty!) as he could. He also overhauled the inside of the shop, decorating it in the colors and symbols of her home culture.

Maybe it was a little over the top for a young woman he had essentially been enemies with, but Iroh was eager to put that in the past once and for all.

Besides, he loved a good party.


The various foods prepared and laid out, the tea brewed and waiting... Iroh looked around with satisfaction. Now he just needed his guests.

Yeah... [Katara's so happy--it's...nice to see. Rita glances around at the decorations, which even she admits aren't bad.]

Well, mostly... [She looks around once again.] Most of them are decorations and colors you'll find in our tribe.

Yeah... And most of our clothes are blue in color, too.

So it's not just you. [She grins, having seen Katara in blue enough times.]

Of course. You might have noticed Sokka often wore blue, too. [Trademark color is a trademark.]

Oh, yeah...[Looots of blue!] That guy left, didn't he?

[He expression drops a bit at the mention of Sokka leaving.] Yeah, he did...

[While Rita doesn't care that much about Sokka, she knows Katara does, at least.] And it's been a while...

Mm, I'm fine... Like you said, it's been a while. [She's silent for a moment before offering a small smile.] But, I know he wants me to be happy today.

...You still miss him. [Stating the obvious, but.]

I always do. [It might not be obvious but she really does.]

Yeah, but...[Katara could probably use a distraction. Abruptly, Rita waves a hand towards one corner of the tea shop where she's been setting up a small machine.]

You like to dance, right?

[The sudden change of topic had Katara blinking and looking at the small machine.]

Yeah, I do. Aang and I danced before and Tyr danced with me, too.

[Rita starts walking over to it, expecting Katara to follow.]

That's why I brought this one over. She's special. [A blastia, of course. A few quick motions of her fingers, and it begins playing music: a quick, lively beat thats perfect for dancing.]

[She was about to ask who's she, but the music instantly made her forget all her questions.]

Oh, this sounds really nice, Rita! [And with a wide smile:] Do you want to dance?

Isn't she great?

[Rita turns to her and grins, maybe just a little smug that Katara likes the music.]

All right, let's do it.

[She nods, approaching Rita so she can hear more of the music and at the same time, dance together.] Mm, yeah! I didn't know you also like dancing.

Dancing is a pretty good stress reliever, right? [She smiles and begins moving near the other girl, keeping an eye on Katara to see how she dances.]

Well, you're right. [She dances more gracefully, though, but her movements pick up pace when the beat turns faster.] I just didn't know you're a fan of it.

[Rita's pretty graceful herself, though not quite as much as Katara. She's a little impressed.] I didn't know you were, either. Not bad!

I guess it comes with the bending? [She's really not sure, that or she's just being modest.] Aang danced with me before and Tyr did too.
