HOLIDAY CHARITY GALA | OPEN

WHEN; December 23 | 7:00 p.m. | City Solutions
RATING; G
CHARACTERS; Everyone
SUMMARY; On behalf of City Solutions- welcome. The party don't start 'til you walk in ♥
LOG;
ENTRANCE | LOBBY
The entrance hall is sleek, white, pristine and sparkling. The decoration here bright and festive - it's difficult to miss the large pine tree in the entryway, and one of the security personnel will be taking your coats with a bow and smile (perhaps even without a bow and smile, doesn't everyone like the brooding and mysterious type?).

BALLROOM
Up a few flights of stairs or up an equally clean and white elevator is the ballroom, brightly lit and seemingly impossible with its darkened ceiling, twinkling with stars and the gentle fall of snow that disappears as it descends. Long, tasteful garlands of holly and festive greenery sparkle with a frost that isn't cold but melts at the touch. For light, candles float just high enough to be out of reach. Enjoy the panoramic view - the room's surrounded with glass windows. Take a seat and enjoy the music and dancing. Rock and roll and classic piano pieces. Jingle Bell Rock is strictly prohibited.

REFRESHMENTS | BAR
A little off to the side is a fully stocked bar and refreshment area, where waitresses and waiters carry glass trays of various drinks and appetizers. Enjoy a glass of champagne or plate of tiny finger sandwiches. Oddly, there are also donuts. Glazed.

VIP ACCESS
Only those who have purchased the superfly tricked-out cool people package are allowed in this quieter, exclusive bar.

POWDER ROOM
Even people in fancy dresses and expensive suits need to take a break, personal or otherwise. Down the hallway and to the right, you'll find the rest rooms. Don't worry, JARVIS won't be watching.

PLAZA
For those who wish to enjoy the crisp winter night air, the ballroom leads right out to the plaza. No, the palm trees may not be the most traditional, but the layers of decorative snow and pinpricks of light hidden in the large leaves are romantic enough, certainly. A glorious view of the City skyline, the night sky, and at the end of the night, the bright fireworks display.

FIREWORKS
At midnight, enjoy the bright shower of color and light as the Weasley twins orchestrate the final show, spelling words and manipulating trajectories in a way normal snap-crackle-pop fireworks cannot. Whether inside in the ballroom or outside on the plaza, it's impossible to miss. Santa Clause has been forbidden to make an appearance.

OTHER
Various hallways, the staircase, the elevators, and any other location are open for attendants to explore. Workshops and laboratories have been closed off for the event, but an empty room or three may have been forgotten for those who'd like a more private setting. JARVIS has his eye on you.

OOC
Feel free to be completely imaginative in setup, setting, surroundings, furniture, decoration, refreshments served, types of drinks served, music played, and anything else you can think of. Dance, be merry, and don't worry about the specifics. Put up an empty comment or a description of where your character will be and links to what he/she will be wearing or option C (the all-encompassing miscellaneous option). Action or prose is also up to you and your preferences ♥

It is wonderful. I've never seen anything like it in my life. [ And she'll twirl - yes, twirl, drunk less on wine than on the general atmosphere and giddy euphoria, safe in the knowledge that Tim wouldn't judge her for it, won't judge her. ]

[identity profile] dillonrockstar.livejournal.com 2011-12-28 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[The twirl makes him chuckle and of course he thinks she's sneaked a couple glasses of wine or champagne when he wasn't watching but either way, there's no judging.]

You feelin' alright there?

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-29 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, certainly. [ She may have had another glass or two, just enough to be somewhat tipsy. ] Are you enjoying yourself as well?

[identity profile] dillonrockstar.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. S'not too bad. [He grins at her.]

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
No, it is not too bad at all. [ Grinning back. She's seldomly been quite this relaxed and openly happy; there's no one here who wishes to hurt her, though, and it's a ball- something she's imagined and wondered at for years, since reading about them first. ]

[identity profile] dillonrockstar.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright, let's go dance. [He takes another swig of his beer--it's going on the dance floor with him--and holds out his hand.]

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[ It's becoming familiar, that he would hold out his hand and she would slip hers into his. Still, Tessa is both nervous and excited this time. She's only ever danced with her brother, and then not as often as she might have liked. ]

Gladly.

[identity profile] dillonrockstar.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tim listens to the song a minute before pulling her out on the floor.] Alright, you hear how it's got that sorta one-two beat? We're goin' on that and it's real simple. You're just gonna go like this. One-two-one to the beat. And let me lead.

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ And Tessa's danced with Nate often enough that following is something she can do, falling into step easily enough. She might miss a beat or a step now and then, but for the most part she'll do passable. ]

It is not so unlike what I know.

[identity profile] dillonrockstar.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tim's not worried about it. She's doing good enough.]

Good to know. I can waltz too...sorta.

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I've waltzed before. Perhaps if they play one, we could try.

[identity profile] dillonrockstar.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, we can do that. M'not that good.

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I would like to. And I'm sure you'll do quite well.

[identity profile] dillonrockstar.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Should be able to stop steppin' on your toes.

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I would certainly appreciate that.

[identity profile] dillonrockstar.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay twirl comin' out. [And then he's twirling her around.]

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Tessa laughs, a little startled perhaps despite the warning, but still following. ]

Did you make up those steps?

[identity profile] dillonrockstar.livejournal.com 2011-12-30 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorta. It's kinda somethin' we do back home. There's no real pattern to it.

[identity profile] dillonrockstar.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, just when we went to rodeos. Sometimes at the bars.

[School dances usually got ditched for something more fun and less supervised.]

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
I only danced with my brother, sometimes. [ And for the briefest moment, she misses Nate - the Nate she thought she knew, not the man she knows him to be, now. ]

[identity profile] dillonrockstar.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Hope I'm better'n dancin' with your brother.

[identity profile] likeboudica.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. [ No hesitation on that, especially not in light of what she now knows of Nate. She far prefers Tim to Nate's company. ]
