Spring Festival [OPEN TO ALL!]

Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

[Welcome Center Booth]

[There is a very small booth with a stack of brochures offering basic information about the City and about the welcome center and the services they provide for new arrivals as well as people who have been living in the City for some time. Euphie is manning it some of the day, but other volunteers are stopping in as well! Feel free to say hi whether you're a newbie or an oldie. It's also doubling as a welcome center for the festival if anyone needs help finding anything.]

[She was always so busy trying to make sure other people were happy and taken care of. ]

You need to make certain you have time to enjoy the festival too.

[She smiles warmly at her friend.] Of course not. Others will be by to man the booth part of the time too, but it is nice to see everyone pass by. Have you been here long, Eagle?

Only a few moments really, just long enough to see the juggling act in the street. It is amazing how easily they can do that.

[He might as well ask since she is here and this is the welcome center booth. ]

Are there any sights that I should make certain not to miss?

I've heard the funnel cakes are particularly delicious. And there is a man juggling with items on fire! I thought it was very impressive. You're coming to the dance tonight, aren't you?

Funnel cakes do sound interesting. Are those the things I have seen around that are covered in powdered sugar? I really do have to try one of those if that is the case!

I can't really say if I will be or not at this point. I think the first thing I would have to do is find Lantis and see if he wanted to go or not.

[She smiles and nods.] That would certainly help of course. If you do come do you think he'd mind if I stole you for a dance?

Oh, I will. I'm sure it will taste just as good as it looks though.

[With powdered sugar what could go wrong? ]

I don't think he would mind at all and I would love to dance with a friend.

[One of those statements Eagle will regret saying later... you know, when he is choking on the attack of the powdered sugar monster. ^,^ ]

Hopefully I will find the time to make it then. I wouldn't want to miss that.

[She giggles softly.] I'll try to live up to it if you do.

[ It's been a while, both while he was in the City and for the fact that he's been gone from it for a few months, but McCoy remembers her. He's still got a glass of sweet tea in his hand, but he approaches, nodding. ]

Oh! Leonard! Hello. [She smiles very brightly at him indeed.] I hadn't seen you in so long, I thought something might have happened. [Difficult to keep track of all the comings and goings in such a place.]

[ He returns the smile with one of his own, though it's nowhere near as bright. ] I was home for two months, City-time. Just a couple of minutes there. Thought I'd come see how you've been.

I see. I suppose I was right then. It's hard to always know when someone is being quiet or when they're truly missing.

[She tilts her head slightly.] I'm glad that you came to see me. [Less controversial than saying she's glad he's back.] I've been doing well. A little busy helping with this festival of course.

From the sound of things, there was enough ruckus to make it all even more confusing.

[ There's a nod of his head. Diplomacy. ] Well, seems to be you've done an excellent job.

Yes, things were certainly eventful. The City has a way of being distracting, doesn't it? It must like the attention.

[She looks out over the crowd before looking at him again.] It was a group effort. I do think it would be fun to do it again though. Maybe it could become something regular. [Another smile.] Yearly. It's a little much for anything too often.

[ He chuckles slightly despite himself. ] It could. 'course, I figure that anything can be distracting eventually.

Sounds like that would be a good idea. I know plenty of people seem to be enjoying the time off. It's good for morale. [ His own included, if he's being honest. ]

I suppose that's true.

[Exactly what she was hoping for after some of the harder curses recently.] Will you be staying long? You know there is a dance tonight.

Not sure, actually. I might be able to stay for a bit, I suppose.

I know it can be a lot to take an entire day off, but I never miss a dance myself.

How late does it go 'til?

The band will play until 11pm, but I don't think we'll force anyone home.

I wouldn't think you would.

I might be able to stick around.
