Spring Festival [OPEN TO ALL!]

When; Friday, April 6 2012, afternoon into night
Rating; Various! Warn if you need to on individual threads.
Characters; EVERYONE EVER!
Summary; Spring festival
Log;

Xanadu is buzzing this afternoon with with food stands and booths with games to play and trinkets to sell or win. There are a couple of stages where people play instruments, sing, juggle, and otherwise entertain.

People donated money, time and materials to bring everything together. Some areas are very polished and professional while others have more of a homemade touch, but it blends together nicely and there is a little something for everyone. A little further from the main attractions there is space for relaxing or playing a game of frisbee or catch.

As the evening settles upon the City, paper lanterns light up an outdoor dance floor and a band plays a range of music from romantic to spirited. There are also tables set up for those who would prefer to star or people gaze.

(OOC: As mentioned here please feel free to have your character/business set up a booth or stand or to be performing under the appropriate headings! They can be doing if for money, free, or charity. General Mingle | Booths: Games/Merchandise | Food Stands | Entertainment/Street Performers | Dance)

[ Not required. Still, letting a young girl wander around Xanadu all by herself seems somewhat lacking in forethought - he doesn't have to remotely desire to be a parent to know that. But it's none of his business, so he only nods somewhat, fingers linking together. ]

There's a kebab cart here that sells excellent food, if you're hungry.

[ Regarding any other child, she would agree, but where she herself is concerned, the rules are sometimes slightly different. ]

Do they offer small portions as well? I do not think I could eat a whole kebab.
signatures: (❝and know that at this very moment)

[personal profile] signatures 2012-04-07 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
You could ask. If not I suppose you could give what you don't want to Pancake or myself.

[ Or... throw it in the trash, alternatively, but even Eames doesn't like wasting food. ]
archivy: (neutral » sum of knowledge)

[personal profile] archivy 2012-04-07 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think that Pancake should be eating a kebab. [ Not only is he already overweight, but also that is not dog food. ]
signatures: (❝Money? I got all the money in the world)

Then I'll eat he leftovers.

[ Poor Pancake. Denied everything. ]
archivy: (superior » i'm way smarter)

[personal profile] archivy 2012-04-07 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
All right. [ And she's standing, brushing some dirt off her knees. ] Can I take Pancake?

[ It's something she might have said this weekend, too, and she looks away after she's said it. ]
signatures: (❝straightforward answers.)

[personal profile] signatures 2012-04-07 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[ If there's a pause, it's buried only in Eames' thoughts, covering it up with movement - of bending down, retrieving the end of the leash from under his shoe, then straightening back up to hand it to her. ]

Go ahead. Though he may be slow.
archivy: (neutral » my feet don't reach the pedals)

[personal profile] archivy 2012-04-07 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. [ She's taking Pancakes leash from him and off she goes towards the kebab stand that he recommended, slow so as not to over-exert the dog.

She'll be back a little later, a kebab in hand, Pancake much more attentive now even as she frowns down at him, tells him that he cannot eat this, it isn't for him.

She holds out the leash to Eames again before sitting down on the bench as well, on the other side of it with plenty of space between them.
] They did not have small portions.

[personal profile] signatures 2012-04-07 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That's all right, I was starting to get a bit hungry anyway.

[ Pancake looks like he wants to try hopping onto the bench, but Eames distracts him with his foot, rubbing his side a bit. ]

Have you spoken with Rupert yet?
archivy: (wary » what are you up to)

[personal profile] archivy 2012-04-07 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Taking a bite and chewing carefully, answering only after she's swallowed. ] Not yet, but I saw that he is here. I think that I will go talk to him after I've eaten.
signatures: (❝a real beginner to be put off by light.)

[personal profile] signatures 2012-04-07 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
A good idea, generally.

[ He pauses a bit, looking her over somewhat subtly. ] Were you ever really interested in horses?
archivy: (sad » what about my cat)

[personal profile] archivy 2012-04-07 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I did not really want a pony. [ A beat. ] But I do like horses. Not as much as cats, but I— remember riding. I think I would like to do it again.
signatures: (❝by dirt or by nerves)

[personal profile] signatures 2012-04-07 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Eames nods. ] Never know until you attempt to pick it back up again, anyway.
archivy: (neutral » windswept and still)

[personal profile] archivy 2012-04-07 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. [ Past hosts very much enjoyed riding, though for some of them, it was the only means of transportation. ] I appreciate that you brought it to my attention. [ In a manner of speaking, at any rate. ]
signatures: (❝bricks in his parents' apartment)

[personal profile] signatures 2012-04-07 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It was no trouble. [ It was only one conversation, anyway. It's not that he felt he owed Ivy anything, but he's not heartless, he does feel bad that she experienced a family only to have it be a lie, particularly with his own inability to settle in such a way. Through and through, it was deception. ] Rupert bought me a hat and then replaced it, I assume he likes me enough to agree to small things.
archivy: (wary » what are you up to)

[personal profile] archivy 2012-04-07 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope that giving riding lessons will not be any trouble to him. [ She's relatively certain, at least, that she won't be too bad at it, which should make it easier.

The whole deception would have been less hurtful if it had not given her exactly what she wanted, in so many ways.
]
signatures: (❝acquired a physical dread)

[personal profile] signatures 2012-04-07 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think he'd accept my proposal if it was so much of a bother, [ Eames clarifies lightly, shaking his head. ] He does only have the one horse, however.
archivy: (neutral » windswept and still)

[personal profile] archivy 2012-04-07 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I would not be able to ride two at the same time. [ Trying to match his lighter tone. ]

[ At that, he does have to chuckle a bit, rubbing a finger underneath his nose. ] No, I guess not. Maybe when you're taller.
archivy: (superior » i'm way smarter)

[personal profile] archivy 2012-04-07 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I would have to grow much taller. [ Pause. ] Or become a circus artist.

[ He gestures toward the performers. ]
