Summary; Finals are over, the spring dance is here--finally a way for everyone, student and teacher, to relax! All the planning, preparation, and hard work has paid off. Students of all ages and grades are invited, and their teachers are sure to be there too. The school superintendents (read: the Deities) have done their very best to light up the Square. So whether you're from Westerberg High, Trinity Girls' School, Cutler's, Bikini Bottom Middle, or City U, you must have received your engraved invitation by now. Dress is formal, but the occasion is celebratory. Come one, come all. (And even those who aren't cursed may still come to take in the decorations, the food, the entertainment, and the merriment... or they can take pictures for blackmail when this is over.) So come and spend an evening under the stars...

Mercy smiled at her. "See, you look great!"

"I could say the same for you," Penny replied with a grin. "Are you having fun?"

"I'm not the one with the date," Mercy pointed out. "But I'm holding up the wall quite nicely and I think my dress looks pretty decent, so... not bad."

"I'm not sure he really asked me to the dance because he wanted to," she admits. Rosella had seemed confident that she'd be able to talk her brother into asking Penny to go, after all. "C'mon, you look too pretty to hang out by the wall all night. Do you want to dance?"

"One of those, huh?" Mercy made a little face. "Sorry, Penny. At least you can imagine, though, right? And sure, why not? Give the guys something to stare at!"

"Yeah, but... you know, besides the part where it's a set-up, this is pretty much the ultimate date."

She took Mercy's hand and headed for the rest of the dancers. "Like guys need a reason to stare."

"Might as well, enjoy it, right?" She went with Penny to the dance floor. "At you, maybe, but other than - well... I'm not exactly someone guys stare at."

Penny was enjoying the company of her date, even if he wasn't there entirely of his own will and even if she felt slightly bad about that. For the moment, however, she was more concerned with Mercy's self-perception. "Not at me, specifically, and I'm sure they notice you."

Hey, enjoy away as far as Mercy was concerned. Even if it wasn't totally his idea, didn't mean you couldn't have fun, right?

"Yeah, yeah, they're all stunned that I'm wearing something other than jeans." She smiled at her friend. "Still, I cleaned up pretty good."
