Summary; Finals are over, the spring dance is here--finally a way for everyone, student and teacher, to relax! All the planning, preparation, and hard work has paid off. Students of all ages and grades are invited, and their teachers are sure to be there too. The school superintendents (read: the Deities) have done their very best to light up the Square. So whether you're from Westerberg High, Trinity Girls' School, Cutler's, Bikini Bottom Middle, or City U, you must have received your engraved invitation by now. Dress is formal, but the occasion is celebratory. Come one, come all. (And even those who aren't cursed may still come to take in the decorations, the food, the entertainment, and the merriment... or they can take pictures for blackmail when this is over.) So come and spend an evening under the stars...

Here we have one Charlie McGee. Dress picked out by Howl. Hair and make-up also most likely by Howl since Charlie sucks out loud at that kind of thing. She's hanging back from the crowd, suddenly experiencing the biggest case of Nerves Ever.

Mainly because she was in a dress. She hated dresses and felt ridiculous and had temporarily lost track of Merlin.

Feel free to make her feel even more awkward. That'd be amazing.

Mercy didn't have a date for the dance, but she decided to go anyway. Her long black hair was down and she was wearing a sleek black ball gown that showed off her slender figure.

Surely she could find someone to dance with her.

Eagle had spotted her right away. It was pretty easy to pick out the striking girl standing off by herself. Of course at this young he would likely think she had cooties...

Dessert Table Mischief : Open

Alright… so if he had dressed up he wouldn’t have had to sneak in but what kid really enjoys wearing formal outfits anyway? And then wouldn’t he have had to take a girl like everyone else? Yuck!
Besides this was more fun! Eagle had crawled his way under one of the many dessert tables where he could get a good view of what was going on while in his mind, going totally unnoticed. The lights were beautiful but all the people seemed to want to do was dance. It was kind of sad really and soon he was quite bored just watching them. Maybe he should liven things up a little?

The first unfortunate victim was a young man who stopped by the table to get a glass of juice for his date. He never made it back to her as somehow he tripped and spilled the juice all over everything. That can happen when some one tries your shoelaces together…
The second was the lady the first guy bumped into as he fell. The poor dear landed soundly on a cake… leaving quite a frosting mess on her dress.

Eagle in the meantime had crawled away to hide under a different dessert table in an attempt to avoid getting caught. The lure of the cookies just overhead though, that was far too tempting… Any one observant enough to ignore the chaotic scene at the first table might spot a small hand reaching up to grab a few cookies at the other.

The fact his hand is the only thing moving on the table catches Tyr's attention first. Sure, there were plenty of kids at the party, but he didn't think any needed to sneak in... It reminded him of when he used to sneak into one of his father's fancy dinner parties...

Maybe he was reliving some of those childish times as he reached over and slid an ice cube right in the path of the boy's fingers.

Rain was hanging around the edges of the dance, too shy to come too far out of the shadows, though she smiled sweetly at everyone she met.

Someone should definitely ask her to dance.

Neil wasn't sure why he came to the dance. He was glad that finals were over - who wouldn't be? - but dressing up and being social weren't really his thing. Still, seeing the reaction of some of the other students to his nice suit and tie and slicked-back hair might be worth it. He was clean and he'd shaved what little facial hair he managed to grow and he wasn't wearing anything denim or torn.

A very different look.

He still had the earring, though.

Neil scoped out the edge of the dance floor, wondering who else had decided to celebrate.

If you're determined to stay and be dull, she might have some blow in her purse that she'll sell you for a jacked up price, but it's supposed to be a magical night, right? Well, here is the magical price of convenience.

Being annoyed and moving through the crowd can really work up a thirst. Thus the surprisingly broody joker had starts to look for the refreshments table in order to get something to quench his thirst. It took him a while but he finally found what he wanted, but, at the same time he found something that he didn't.

Carla.

He really, really wanted that punch. Yet he also really, really wanted to turn tail in the opposite direction. The desire to not deal with the girl won over his need to sate himself with the sugary drink. With a sigh, Huey turns around and tries to merge into the crowd but it's kind of hard when his trademark hairstyle makes him stick out like a sore thumb.

Tyr isn't really one to get dressed up - he's only wearing a plain, form-fitting blouse (untucked, of course) and black pants with the same shoes he wears with his school uniform - but he loves having some fun. And hey, a dance was a good excuse for that!

And while he's mostly just hanging around by one of the coloured trees and sipping some soda right now, he has an amused - or giddy? - smile on his face. He expects it to be a good night.

Rita's not one to get super dressy, either, but she's gone for a short, bright green dress; matching ribbons around her waist and neck; and a bright green hairclip, though some strands of hair have come loose already. Her yellow sandals have only a short heel, better for dancing--and more comfortable.

And now she comes up to Tyr, a light flush on her cheeks. It's not like she had to come with someone just to enjoy a party, but Tyr just happened to offer, so...She just saw no reason to turn him down!

Percy did not think much of dances, but he had received an official invitation, and it would have been rude to turn it down. So, gamely, he had rented a tuxedo and made his way to the square. He shifted uncomfortably from foot to foot, took a sip of his punch, and checked his watch, wondering how long he had to wait before he could make a polite exit.

Penny doesn't quite know what to do with herself when she's not with her date, so she defaults to wallflower mode and feigns interest in the snacks the dance has to offer. It takes her a moment to notice Percy.

[Well, it appears luck was with Rosella tonight, as she's actually made it to the dance (as opposed to ending up accompanying her grandmother to the DAR ball instead), and is currently happily mingling in her brother-approved blue dress, the occasional flash of her possibly-not-so-brother-approved heels peeking out from beneath the drape of her floor-length skirt.

This is largely the last chance she'll get to see her friends and underlings before she takes off back home for the summer, and she intends to enjoy it--preferably in the company of her extremely handsome (and college-age) date--but the people who know her best of all might detect a faint hint of wistfulness in her demeanor, too, if they're looking close enough.

Still, she's here to have a good night, and she's damn well going to, dancing and mingling with her head held high like the queen she is, as though she doesn't have a care in the world.]

[After spending the afternoon making liberal use of (not entirely legally acquired) concealer for the spot on his neck, Raymond has finally found his way to the square. His tuxedo doesn't look like it fits him well, and it's probably a mystery as to how he obtained it in the first place. He's also spending more of his time looking around the premises rather than actually dancing or getting into anything else, but he's here and that's what counts.]

[ Having hardly heeded the dress-code regulations, Arthur has his hair slicked back for once which depending on who you ask makes him look younger or older. Either way it means the tangled, curly mop of hair he's usually sporting is tamed for now thanks to Ariadne - one of a handful of people he's starting to think of as friends. The white-button down would look nicer if he hadn't rolled the sleeves up and corduroys while not jeans are also neither slacks nor anything else remotely nicer. There's a skinny black tie loose enough to afford the fact that the shirt's topmost button isn't done. His shoes are well loved sneakers.

But he figures dress-code doesn't apply if all he's doing is hanging around the entrance, snapping the odd photo or two with his camera. The camera doesn't have any buttercups wreathed into it but there's a trio of them in his breast pocket for no apparent reason.

When the majority of people are inside, he figures if he really wants to he can just sneak in.

So if you run into Arthur it might be outside - perched on something elevated - as people are still filtering into the dance hall... or it might be once he's inside said dance hall - milling around for a good shot even in the dim lighting as the night goes on. ]

[ After about twenty minutes of milling around inside the venue, saying hi to the people he knows and scoping out the general feel of the place (if its dull Yusuf doesn't want to be there, and if it's too packed with teachers/event staff Eames should really ditch his "stuff"), Yusuf wanders back to the entrance, where Arthur had skillfully detached himself from the group. For a guy who doesn't have any outward interest in photography, he's got a really nice camera- or, its got a big lens and a strap and you can't turn it around to take a picture of yourself, so Yusuf assumes its legit.

When he finds Arthur literally perched on a bench, shooting a couple who aren't paying him any attention, Yusuf slides up to him and asks, ]

[ Ariadne's never exactly been the most dressed up of her class, but tonight she's made an effort. She has a long, strapless red dress on; her hair is done, she has makeup on, and she more or less looks different. She's still obviously Ariadne, though, having plopped down by the fountain without thinking much about whether or not she'll get wet, a cup of punch in her hand while she looks around. ]

[ With Yusuf's prom still a year a away, not to mention his general but pervasive dislike of anything dubbed "formal", the boy chose to go more seaside casual with formal underpinnings- on the off chance the dress code is actually enforced. Looking around, he sees a fair mix of casual and formal, so he doesn't regret the decision.

He'll be around, talking to those who he knows but mostly he'll be on the dance floor- so if you need a partner, just look his way. ]

Moving through the crowd was a slow process with the number of people around, Huey continued to maneuver his way past the happy people. The slacker himself sporting a scowl on his face the entire time. He had only shown up due to a sense of tradition but he really wanted to be someplace else at the moment. The reason being what he considered his happiest memories involving the inter-school dance darkened slightly due to the main factor behind them not being by his side.

Funny that he, Huey Freeman - girl-crazed slacker, would find himself feeling a bit heartbroken due to a dance. Having enough of wading through the crowd, he finds a empty table to sit at and kicks up his feet.

He almost hoped that Ikki and the others would show up and disrupt things in a overly dramatic way.

Sam was lounging against the wall when the other kid sat down. And for a moment, he just watched. Wondering if he was supposed to move. Wondering if other kids would come sit down, and Sam would feel even lonelier. When no one did, he hesitated a moment longer, then pushed himself off the wall.

"You look like you're having as much fun as I am," he said, with an attempt to be casual.

[Whether she's with Steve, dancing alone, or hanging out in one of the more out-of-the-way areas, Penny looks like she's enjoying herself. And why shouldn't she be happy? She has a new dress, she came with the most perfect date of all time, school's out, and she loves to dance. If anything in her world is less than amazing, she's hiding it very well.]

So, tonight Merlin is wearing a tux and it's just about the strangest thing. He's not quite used to dressing up, but, well, it's a special night or something like that. Not that he really cares much for it himself, but parties are parties and he enjoys them and his mum thought he should go etc etc.

So here he is. In a tux. And with Charlie, who he has apparently... ended up losing. But that's nothing to make a fuss about; he'll find her again. After getting some food, because he's hungry and it all looks delicious.

She was still feeling about out of place in her dress, but she was here with the most important person in her life and they had a habit of making her feel amazing regardless of the situation so this was easy.

[Miss Ginny Weasley arrives fashionably late, and while she knows many of the people at the dance, it appears she's come alone. Or has she? There's a flower tucked behind her ear—delicate, white, and standing out in the tumble of gentle copper waves—that could have been plucked from the garden herself or handed to her by a date. Who knows? All dressed up in a modest dress of deep gold (handmade by her mother as the most inexpensive option, not that she'd say so), she's perhaps at her most ladylike in comparison to the rough and tumble athlete of yesterday, but with the easy way she weaves through the throng in her heels with a smile, you wouldn't guess she doesn't do this often.]
