Summary; Finals are over, the spring dance is here--finally a way for everyone, student and teacher, to relax! All the planning, preparation, and hard work has paid off. Students of all ages and grades are invited, and their teachers are sure to be there too. The school superintendents (read: the Deities) have done their very best to light up the Square. So whether you're from Westerberg High, Trinity Girls' School, Cutler's, Bikini Bottom Middle, or City U, you must have received your engraved invitation by now. Dress is formal, but the occasion is celebratory. Come one, come all. (And even those who aren't cursed may still come to take in the decorations, the food, the entertainment, and the merriment... or they can take pictures for blackmail when this is over.) So come and spend an evening under the stars...

"Stating the obvious."

And Tyr just wants to tease her a little. She's a lot of fun to dance with...

"Like saying you're a good dancer."

[negativegate]

Now he's just making her more smug, and she responds with, "You're damn right I'm good!"

Another spin, and maybe as an afterthought or because she sort of wants to reciprocate, she adds, "And you're not bad, I guess."

"You're not going to give me a big head by being honest." She's a lot of fun to dance with, smug or not.

[negativegate]

"Sure about that?" And she's just teasing now. The atmosphere and the dancing--it's all really loose and exciting, even more than she thought. Maybe it's Tyr.

[blackshadow]

"I'm positive." He doesn't have any regrets about choosing to take her. He knew she was fun to joke with, but it's really fun now.

[negativegate]

"I don't know. You're already pretty confident." She feels like she could dance the night away with Tyr. Not a bad end to the year at all.

[blackshadow]

"What's wrong with confidence?" Definitely not a bad way. She's a lot of fun to dance with herself, too.

[negativegate]

"It might give you a big head, remember?" Just to send his words back at him. She's smiling the whole time, though.

[blackshadow]

"And I said it wouldn't." Just to remind her, too.

...In the back of his head, he wonders if he could pick her up and spin her. She looks small enough.

[negativegate]

"We haven't put it to the test, you know." She grins at him, hand on her hip even as she continues to move with the music. She can't remember the last time she had this much fun dancing.

[blackshadow]

"Then what are you waiting for? I thought you liked testing things."

She looks like she's having fun, too - though since he's having fun, that could be colouring his perception.

[negativegate]

"Are you volunteering to be an experiment?"

So much fun. She laughs a little now.

[blackshadow]

"Just this once- I plan on trying something on you, too."

[negativegate]

Although she keeps dancing, that makes her blink at him, curious. "Huh? What do you mean?"

[blackshadow]

He explains plainly and nonchalantly, "I have a theory and I want to test it."

[negativegate]

Oh, he's so trying to dance around it. She keeps right on dancing, responding, "Hmph! So test it."

[blackshadow]

And dancing around her. He grins and puts his hands on her waist. "Then with your permission—"

He'll try picking her up and spinning with her!

[negativegate]

"Huh? Hey-" She starts to turn, and then out comes a surprised little squeak when he picks her up. The surprise only lasts a second, though, and before she knows it, she's laughing at him. "This is your experiment?"

He laughs too as he spins her around once, partially amused at her surprise and mostly just having fun. "And it was successful."

He lowers her down slowly after a short while. "You're really light."

[negativegate]

She blushes as her feet touch the ground again--possibly wondering if by 'successful' he means she liked it...

Because she did enjoy it. But she huffs a little at him, anyway. "You say that like you were expecting me to be heavy or something."

If he knew she really liked it, he would do it again, but by successful, he only meant that he could pick her up and spin her. And he had fun doing it.

He almost laughs when she says that, though. "I don't think anyone would expect you to be heavy..."

[negativegate]

It was certainly successful either way, and maybe Rita's totally hoping he might do it again--not that she'll admit it.

"It's not like I'm a little kid, you know," she sort-of protests, though she supposes he's right.

[blackshadow]

"You don't have to be a kid to be light."

He gives her a lopsided smile, then puts his hands on her waist again. She's really pretty small...

"Maybe I'm just strong."

[negativegate]

Something about his hands on her makes her blush... So she tries to cover it up with a quick reply. "I-I guess--at least you're not just a musclehead."

Rita: never able to give straight compliments.

[blackshadow]

Her stuttering makes him more aware of his hands, and right now, he doesn't feel strong enough to actually pick her up. His own face flushes, though not exactly happily.

"What's that mean?"
