Summary; Finals are over, the spring dance is here--finally a way for everyone, student and teacher, to relax! All the planning, preparation, and hard work has paid off. Students of all ages and grades are invited, and their teachers are sure to be there too. The school superintendents (read: the Deities) have done their very best to light up the Square. So whether you're from Westerberg High, Trinity Girls' School, Cutler's, Bikini Bottom Middle, or City U, you must have received your engraved invitation by now. Dress is formal, but the occasion is celebratory. Come one, come all. (And even those who aren't cursed may still come to take in the decorations, the food, the entertainment, and the merriment... or they can take pictures for blackmail when this is over.) So come and spend an evening under the stars...

"What would you fall for?" he presses. He's getting a little more giddy as he dances with her. The way she's blushing makes him think that she likes him...but he could just be embarrassing her. Which isn't what he wants, but it's still amusing. "You know, so Klarth can work on his technique."

[negativegate]

Tyr's just a friend...she thinks...maybe. There is a moment she almost thinks about answering his question seriously, until he adds the bit about Klarth, and then the moment passes and she snorts. "Hmph! Like I'm giving him any pointers."

It's too hard not to tease her. He continues, "He could really use the help, though, you know." Part of him does want to know what Rita would fall for... But he hopes that what she falls for his him.

[negativegate]

"I'm not going to make it any easier for him," is her answer. Klarth always has several lines for her, and she always ignores them--sometimes even finds them a little funny, in a silly way. But that's not what she's into... Then again, she hasn't really thought about what she is into, or what she likes about Tyr...

"That's cold," he laughs. But even though Klarth's his friend, he wouldn't want him to date Rita... Even Klarth knows that! ...Yet when it comes to her, he's not totally sure what he likes either... He guesses that he likes that she's smart and has a fun attitude.

[negativegate]

She can't help but laugh along with him, then grins smugly as she claims, "He shouldn't expect anything different by now." There are things she likes about Klarth, like his stubbornness and intellect (and maybe even his goofiness sometimes). As for Tyr...she likes that they can tease or and be a little honest with each other, among other things.

"He probably thinks it's part of your charm anyway." And he's still laughing when he says that. Klarth is a great guy, but he should expect some teasing from Tyr. Especially with the things be pulls on him! In a way, he almost likes Rita and Klarth for the same reasons.

Klarth definitely doesn't get away from the teasing! And of course, neither does Tyr, as she responds while she keeps grinning. "Yeah, that sure sounds like him. Are you taking pointers?"

Tyr sort of likes the teasing anyway. At her question, he decides to take a chance. "I'd rather take some from you."

[negativegate]

That makes her feel a little self-conscious again--mostly because she can't tell if he's still teasing or if he's being serious. Then again, it'd be ridiculous for him to seriously ask her for pointers on dating, she thinks...He must be teasing. With that in mind, she tries to banish the awkward feelings and answer confidently, "Then start with more dancing."

He blushes a little, and he can't tell if she's being serious, either... Does she actually like - want - him dancing? She does like to dance...and he even invited her to dance more.

"Right," is the only awkward, little response she gets.

[negativegate]

"What?" She gives him a skeptical look, now uncertain about his reaction. Was he expecting something different? Was it weird?

"I didn't know dancing was such a big thing," he responds more certainly. But he gets a little more energetic just to show that he can.

[negativegate]

Her skepticism doesn't entirely fade, but she does relax a little bit. "I guess that's why you needed the pointer."

[blackshadow]

So she was being serious... He relaxes a little too; at least he can dance. "I'm not like Klarth," he admits.

[negativegate]

He can definitely dance, and Rita can't help but think for a moment that they should've done something like this earlier. But forgetting that, she shakes her head, and answers more sincerely, "I didn't think you were, you know."

His smile becomes even more awkward when she says that. He wonders if she knows he's saying that he doesn't know anything about girls since she doesn't seem mocking or anything when she says that.

But she sounded caring, so he'll take it as a good thing. "It's obvious, huh?"

[negativegate]

She can't help but wonder if she's screwing this up somehow...But she's certain she understood what he meant! So she tries to shake it off and continue, nodding.

"Well, you didn't go inviting every single girl to the dance." Oh, that's right--he chose to invite her. But that's because they're friends, right?

[blackshadow]

Maybe that's what she meant - that he hasn't been hitting on everyone. ...Which is true. He doesn't think about what he says when he replies, "That's true. I limited myself to just inviting one."

[negativegate]

It's so weird that--again--she can't tell if he's teasing. In her uncertainty, her reply gets a little defensive as she repeats, "You limited yourself, huh?"

Hearing her get defensive, he's quick to add, "To the only one I wanted to invite. If I wanted to dance with anyone, I would have come alone."

[negativegate]

For a moment, she almost wonders if that's really what he meant--then decides that she's just being weird; Tyr isn't like that. With that, she thinks more about what he said, and blushes a little. "S-so, you chose me because you wanted to."

[blackshadow]

"Of course," he answers automatically. What other reason would he have? "You're my friend and a good dancer."

[negativegate]

"Yeah--exactly. I knew that." She knew that had to be the reason, of course...It's not like she was hoping for something else.

She clears her throat, mostly as a way to give her a second to get over her awkwardness, then adds, "You know I'm a good dancer now, anyway."

[blackshadow]

An awkward smile returns to his face. At least she doesn't think he's weird... He should try harder to not be weird. "And that's why I want to go dancing with you again. You're pretty fun."
