Ready Or Not, Gonna Make It To The City...

When; May 19th, from sunset to evening and beyond! (Just watch out for midnight, Cinderella...)
Rating; G to PG-13?
Characters; Anyone and everyone...and maybe a few more
Summary; Finals are over, the spring dance is here--finally a way for everyone, student and teacher, to relax! All the planning, preparation, and hard work has paid off. Students of all ages and grades are invited, and their teachers are sure to be there too. The school superintendents (read: the Deities) have done their very best to light up the Square. So whether you're from Westerberg High, Trinity Girls' School, Cutler's, Bikini Bottom Middle, or City U, you must have received your engraved invitation by now. Dress is formal, but the occasion is celebratory. Come one, come all. (And even those who aren't cursed may still come to take in the decorations, the food, the entertainment, and the merriment... or they can take pictures for blackmail when this is over.) So come and spend an evening under the stars...
Log;

[This is an open log for the Fast Times at City High dance event! Tags can be open or directed to another character--just throw a label in the subject line. Feel free to NPC wait staff, refreshments, music, and anything else you might encounter at such a soiree. Have fun!]

Sam's a wallflower - OTA

[personal profile] seekingnormal 2012-05-23 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sam isn't dressed up. He and Dean don't have that kind of money. But Dean insisted he go anyway, and here he is, in clean pants at least and a button-down shirt. He feels stupid and even shorter than usual. Who the hell goes to a dance on their second day in a new school?

You might run into him. Or he might trip over you in the dark, just because his mind is elsewhere. Or you might just see a kid looking uncertainly at the other people attending, hands in his pockets.

Mercy smiled at him. "Hey, Sam, how's it going?"

Yeah, so she might have had an eye out for the young kid who was new in town to make sure he was doing okay.

"Oh. Hey." Sam looked up, a half-smile forming. "It's all right." He shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. "Lots of people here."

He wanted to punch himself. 'Lots of people here'?

Mercy laughed. "I know what you mean. I haven't been here that long, but it was such a culture shock! I think you could fit half my town inside this building!"

"Oh yeah?" Sam brightened, now that Mercy seemed to be taking him in stride. "Where are you from?"

if she was new, too, that gave them something in common.

"Tiny little place up in Montana." Homesickness and sadness crossed her face as she thought about Aspen Creek. And why she'd left.

"Got here a few months ago when I moved in with my bio mom." And her mom's new family who hadn't even known she existed. "It's a nice place here."

Sam nodded. "I hope so," he said. "I'd like to stay somewhere for awhile." Long enough to miss it, like she did. It was a trade off, he supposed. At least she had her mom.

"Yeah," Mercy said, understanding that. "Well, hopefully you can stay here for a while, right? It would be nice to have you here."

He smiled again, looking down in embarrassment. He didn't usually make that great an impression. Maybe it was because so many people seemed to be from somewhere else, here. "Thanks," he said. "I'll try. I have a good feeling about this place."

"At least you know you already have one friend," she said with a smile.
