-- they'll be happy to know that as I saw you go

When: Friday 8th of June, evening time.
Rating: PG-13, but he'll probably have a potty mouth, so fair warning.
Characters: Bucky Barnes ([personal profile] yourbestguysgun) and open to anyone who'd be at the Blue Light. Feel free to have been there with him for a long time.
Summary: Somebody's a super friendly drunk given the right opportunity for it.
Log:

The last time Bucky was happy like this, he was surrounded by his team, his friends, leaning against the bartop in uniform and teasing the ever loving hell out of his best friend. He tries not to think about it too often, mostly because it feels a little bit like it's way above his own understanding. He can deal with a lot of things, but dimension hopping is a stretch. Of course he misses it, the Howling Commandos, the camaraderie, the sense of belonging, but the City isn't so bad when it's not jerking his chain, and he likes the people he's gotten to know.

Most of them, anyway.

He's been drinking - quite a bit, actually, - but more as a sign of how good he feels today, laughing at Steve and the rest of his friends, and heckling the band to play something he recognises. It's an easy feeling, and it seeps into his posture, shirt sleeves rolled up, animated as he talks. His beer is clutched in one hand, half-empty as he waves it.
hexuality: (teasingly; brother talk)

I know. I did promise, didn't I?

[She cocks her head, flipping that flaming hair over her shoulder.]

And shush, you love the trouble.
hexuality: (acknowledged; follow)

If you'd rather I carry on with a safe and boring life, I'll ignore you.

[She pauses, then asks after something she's certainly heard about since being in the City, but knows very little else.]

What's so exciting about baseball, then? Looks like a load of standing around to me.
hexuality: (wheedle; coerce like a twin)

[personal profile] hexuality 2012-06-09 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[She swats him lightly at the back of his head, pointedly,]

Don't call me 'kid.'

[And then she lets him carry on, watching with some amusement as he lights up in probably the same way she does when someone gets her started on Quidditch and brooms.]

Well, I am all about sports and competition. So it isn't just a load of standing around?
hexuality: (could believe it; if you mean it)

[And then Ginny laughs.]

Those aren't real grounds for disqualification. At least, not in Quidditch. It's almost all magical or physical fouls, there. [She tips her head a little, considering.] I'm always interested in Muggle sports, though. Chase introduced me to ice hockey once, you know?
hexuality: (surely you're joking; no but really)

[personal profile] hexuality 2012-06-09 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't be offended when I say I'm not too surprised.

[To both things.]
hexuality: (afterthought; get in the last word)

Brilliant.

[She glances over her shoulder to check if her other tables need anything, spots one regular holding up his water glass—and that's the only thing she does refills on by magic because water's free. So she draws her wand from her apron and gives it a little flick, a silent Aguamenti in her mind, and turns back to Bucky.]

Which reminds me, can I get you another or are you still working on that?
hexuality: (utterance; punctuate)

[personal profile] hexuality 2012-06-11 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[She doesn't even realise what's got him so interested or amazed, really. She does that little trick countless times on her shifts, it's easier than crossing the room, so she blinks at him as she pockets her wand.]

What, you don't want a beer? Surprising.
hexuality: (pranked; unmasked)

[personal profile] hexuality 2012-06-11 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
What?

[Pause. And then she makes some soft sound of realisation and breaks into a sheepish grin.]

Refilling a water glass the easy way?
hexuality: (blatant disbelief; you silly muggle)

[personal profile] hexuality 2012-06-11 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
You thought that was neat?

[So. Unimpressed. Ginny thinks there are so many impressive things about magic beyond conjuring water, but then again, she's from that world. Still, beyond the surprise, she's honestly quite flattered and laughs again.]

I've got better tricks than that, Bucky.
hexuality: (tea cures all; warmth)

[personal profile] hexuality 2012-06-11 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Not intentionally. Witches fly brooms and do magic, right? In the stories?

[She bites her lip around a smile, pulls her wand back out of her apron and twirls it between her fingers, letting it throw harmless gold sparks as she thinks.]

I'm still working, git, I can't give you a proper demonstration now, so if that's what you fancy, you'll have to wait. But...

[Yeah, she's a show-off, she can't resist. This is still basic stuff, but her more impressive things tend to be offensive too and this is so not the right time and place. So she'll just, you know, levitate that glass out of your hand, Bucky; it's the old, familiar Wingardium Leviosa at the back of her mind and off it goes!]
hexuality: (say so; mussed)

[personal profile] hexuality 2012-06-11 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[She starts giggling, yes, giggling, because his surprise and delight really are palpable and if there are some people looking, well, she's used to that, too. Ginny lets the glass dance around for a bit before she sets it back down, then gives her wand a twitch again and the last bit of beer comes swooping out of the glass, next.]

It's a wand, thank you very much. And it's possible to do magic without it, but not nearly as controlled, and I can only think of one wizard who could really do it. [Dumbledore.] We get our first wand at eleven years old.

[Now letting that blob of beer split into two and then four and so on, dancing around through the air.]

But we're born with magic. [This as she directs the beer back into the glass.] It's just how I am.
hexuality: (smile in profile; touched; oh you)

[personal profile] hexuality 2012-06-11 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[She glances at him, then smiles, can't help but wonder what it's like to have magic be something new and exciting and (as she's been told) straight out of storybooks. She imagines it's close to how she felt about her little discoveries in the Muggle world, like the television... maybe that's the closest to magic she's felt.]

Yeah, but you do little bursts of magic even before that. Mum says the first time she saw me use magic, I was levitating my stuffed animals when I was barely one. [She chuckles, sliding her wand away.] No surprise, I suppose, given how much I like flying now. Apparently I'm not too fond of the ground.

[Grinning,]

Unicorns, actually.
