It's Rapunzels birthday.
When; Thursday night
Rating; PG-ish
Characters; Charlie, Rapunzel, Party invitees.
Summary; Charlie's trying to throw her best friend a surprise birthday party and may have botten in over her head.
Log;
Rapunzel was one of several people in the City that Charlie thought was important. In fact, Charlie'd quite easily say Rapunzel was her best friend. When she heard Rapunzels' birthday was coming, Charlie wanted to do something about it so, after telling several of their friends about it, Charlie spent the last several days gathering what she needed for the party.
There was a cake which Charlie helped make. There was a table covered in other kinds of foods, too. Smaller cakes, candies, sandwiches, fruit and vegetable trays and several kinds of drinks. Some with alcohol and some without.
And this all took place in the rooftop garden of Charlie's apartment. Most of the vegetables and fruits are gone. (protip; they're on the table covered in food). This leaves several kinds of flowers decorating the place. And there were floating lanterns, unlit, set on a table. All of them had been made by various party-goers and Charlie and she'd left a few unfinished in case people wanted to work on those.
Tied to the corners of the table were a few lit lanterns that burned harmlessly. There were also strings of dragonfly lights strung around the area, some of which shift color very very slowly.
Enjoy!

Hello, handsome boyfriend!
"I hope so," she said with a slightly tired sigh. "I think Rapunzel liked it."
The lanterns had been pretty, at least.

"That's what matters, isn't it?"
no subject
"And she loved the lanterns." That had been important, that Rapunzel had the lanterns and enjoyed them.

"Fine. Just a little tired."
Cleaning was fairly exhausting after all. Good thing he was used to it.

She's pretty sure she's been on her feet since before dawn, getting things ready. It was all worth it, though.

"You deserve the rest," he said.

That was one way to ask, he supposed.
"I guess I can put up with that."
no subject
"Good to know."
She wasn't tired, even with the whole day she'd been through. Just a tiny bit tense from it and was considering never doing this again. Of course, the likely hood of this happening was pretty much slim to none. She enjoyed seeing her friends and all happy.

What use was it to be together if you couldn't make each other laugh, right?
He made a humming sound as a response and stroked his hand absently over her back, resting his forehead lightly against hers as he kept his eyes closed.

Her fingers ran gently through his hair, thumb running over his cheek. She tilted her head slightly, nose brushing against his as her eyes closed.
"If we fall asleep up here, maybe we'll wake up in time to see the sun rise?" Her voice is soft, kept low like she doesn't want anyone to overhear even if she knew it was just them.
no subject
"Maybe. Pretty sure we might wake up with a bit of pain, though."
Because this probably wasn't an ideal place to sleep. Even if he grew up sleeping on the floor... A chair is a little worse, even there, probably.

She shrugs a bit, tucking her head under his chin and wrapping her arm around him.
"This is nice, though. We'll have to do this a lot more often." It was a pleasant way to end a long day.

So he was pretty exhausted, and this silence was nice.
"We have a lot of things we have to do often," he said idly.
no subject
"Like what?"
no subject
"Everything?" he suggested, because they basically just had to do everything ever together and it certainly wouldn't hurt to do things more than once.

Charlie tilted her head slightly, pressing a soft kiss against his lips. "We should probably head downstairs soon. Phantom needs a walk soon." Which isn't exactly ideal because Charlie really enjoys what's going on now.
"Care to join us? I'm sure that's part of everything, right?"
no subject
It actually sounded very nice. This was very nice too, of course, but he liked taking walks, and he was fairly fond of Phantom. So that worked perfectly.
