Rating; Unknown, but Circus-related body horror in many threads

Summary; Bruce has ended up treating several of the Circus' victims and now they're cluttering up his lab and apartment. Open post for people to visit Luke, Serrure, and Asami or pester Bruce (and possibly Sif)

Bruce's lab and apartment hadn't been intended as a makeshift hospital ward, but there they were. He'd set Asami up in his bedroom and Luke and Serrure were still kept in separate rooms to keep their magnetism from dragging their wounded bodies back together.

He's immediately available by network, but at the moment he's in his kitchen brewing up some chamomile tea. More accurately the water's heating and he has his forehead pressed against the stainless steel door of his fridge.

[ooc: Just set up threads for the various temporary residents for easy visitation.]

If you can't get angry over friends being kidnapped and mutilated, what can you get angry about? [It sounds flippant, but for a man to whom anger is a matter of constant concern, it's a serious question.]

Indeed. [She takes a sip of her coffee, and leans forward against the counter.] Though you know best of controlled anger, do you not?

[He brings his cup over to the bar so that they're facing each other and leans his elbows on the counter top.]

The word is really acceptance.

Acceptance? Of what?

I don't get angry, Sif. I only get angrier.

[Oh. A beat.] So you are angry now?

[He looks down, ostensibly to stir his tea, speaking down into his cup.] Oh yes.

At the City. And the Circus. [And yet he's Bruce, not the other one. Very interesting, indeed.]

Yeah, they're good targets for now.

[Her eyebrows shoot up; it's brief, but the surprise is there nevertheless.] Who else, if I may ask?

That's a pretty personal question. [Incredibly personal, but he tries for a smile to take the sting out of his reply.]

Apologies. I will not press it. [And she doesn't; rather she retreats politely, by taking a sip of her drink and not looking at him too openly.]

Don't feel bad. I wouldn't even tell my therapist if I had one. [He taps his tea strainer and sets it in the sink.]

Have you had breakfast?

I am not sure what a therapist does, but...it is your life, so it is your choice how much you share of it.

[And that is that.] No. Not really.

Fair enough.

[He's turning away to open the fridge, pulling out a variety of ingredients for omelets and setting them on the counter.]

Then obviously it's time to demonstrate that I can make more than just sandwiches. We'll both need fuel for the day.

[She looks up again, and smiles as she watches him take out food and pans and pots.]

You will make a fine wife, Bruce Banner.

If only I did windows.

[A deflecting joke, because really, that didn't graze one of the many reasons he's always angry or anything.]

Do you like anything in particular in your omelets? Have you had an omelet?

[If that's a joke, it flies over the radar and passes by undetected. She tilts her head to the side.]

I am not sure. Whatever takes the shortest amount of time, I do not wish to be a bother...

Then you'll have what I'm having. [He adds a bell pepper, an onion, some mushrooms, fresh herbs, and tofu (yes, tofu, he's big on protein) to the eggs, milk and cheese he already has out.] And you won't have to think you're a bother.

[He gets to work cracking eggs, relaxing with something to do to keep him occupied.] How are you holding up? I... mostly you seem like a regular person to me - a tough regular person but anyway - and most people would be a little tense about all this.

[Another sip of her coffee, and perhaps she lets her eyes wander, because who wouldn't? He needs things to keep his hands busy, and she understands that; she needs things to be aware of, details to take in. How many exists in the lab, how many doors and windows, how many steps from here to the door, how many enemies could bottleneck down the hallway.]

I am not sure what exactly you thought I should seem like.

To be fair, I hadn't given you any real thought before I got here. Aesir weren't my field of study. [He's comfortable in the kitchen. Chemistry and cooking are closer than kissing cousins to his way of thinking.] But larger than life seems fair after meeting Thor and running into Loki.

Should I feel wounded that I am not larger than life? [She gives him a slight smile, amused; well, she gives it to his back, anyway. Somehow holding the title isn't enough nowadays. Mortals want proof, too.]

They are royalty. Thor would have been king. One day, he will be. [Skips right over Loki, though.] It would not surprise me if he seems out of this world. Some...some of us adapt. Others stand out.

[He's bent over to get the omelet pan out of a low cabinet when he casts her an amused glance over his shoulder.]

I don't think you should. If I were in awe of you I probably wouldn't feel so comfortable making you breakfast.

[And he doesn't comment on Thor, because her loyalty to the big lug is clear. It's not her fault he'll eternally think of him as an Aesir frat boy.]

And I guess I'm a little larger than life sometimes myself.

[So. So - lucky he made a joke just then, because that gives her an excuse to not let her gaze linger. She laughs, a sort of snort-like sound, very unladylike.] Quite literally, I think.

[She shrugs and looks away.] I do not think any human has been in awe of me since the first time I visited Midgard in my youth.

[He jogs. And also? The snort is far too endearing coming from a woman who is otherwise so beautiful that Bruce often has to work to keep his gaze appropriate.]

Yeah, well at least maybe he and I have finally found a place to meet in the middle.

[Pan meet heat. He brings the ingredients over to the counter to get his chopping done facing her while the eggs cook.] Do you want humans to be in awe of you?
