but dogs can look up
When; The afternoon into the evening of January 2nd... spanning sundown >:]
Rating; Rated G for Ghouls. Wait no. Let's say PG-13, maybe even R.
Characters; Anyone. EVERYONE. Get up in here!
Summary; A normal evening at one of the City's bars turns intoShaun of the Dead a ghoul attack.
Log;
[ While many of the City's denizens may have been growing gradually more anxious since the new year struck, a certain ominous paranoia closing in around them, life does not stop or even slow down for nerves. And without any tangible evidence of something amiss, it's easy for those who have been more actively occupied to bury themselves, all but missing the early warning signs of whatever may be closing in.
And so it is that one may find oneself out this evening, in the last hours of dusk before darkness falls over the City, unwinding over an after-work drink or grabbing an easy dinner. Of course, if one were to linger too long... ]
[ Momentarily posting time divided threads, to indicate before and after sundown. Feel free to mingle before dark, or have your characters' ghoulish guests arrive after the sun goes down... ]

Well... [ A little shrug, a slight movement in his shoulders that rolls his head slightly to a side. ] No specific complaints, at the moment.
[ And he sits back, leaving the wings and beer for the moment while he speaks. He's not rude, gosh. ]
How are you doing?

[ Eames' mouth quirks, pulling a stool out with his foot as he plops down. Signaling the bartender, he gets one of the darker brews for himself, tugging off his gloves to stash in his pocket. ]
I'm well enough. A decent start to the new year, all in all. Have you made any resolutions?
no subject
[ Which is a little funny, considering his resolution... ]
Though, oddly enough, the only resolution I've got is to make the most of what I can, here. Not exactly quantifiable, but I could probably be doing a better job of it.
no subject
How are you going to accomplish that, then?
no subject
Dwelling less, enjoying whatever I can. The City goes out of its way to inspire misery, and I'd rather not give it the satisfaction.

Were you a brooder at home, too? Or just when you were slighted?
no subject
Which may translate to forever.]Well, I don't know that I'd call myself a brooder, exactly.
[ Yeah, yeah, James. You know you can be. ]
no subject
[ Eames thinks you're spouting bullshit, Jimmy - but he's busy taking a sip of his drink, eyeing some of the bottles at the back of the bar. ]
no subject
Back home, I'm fine.
[ In a relative sense, that's mostly true. ]
Here, the City essentially specializes in reopening wounds, dredging up memories, picking at everyone's innermost issues - and then putting them on display. So it might be called brooding, here, but I hardly think anyone could be faulted for being susceptible to it now and again. Coping mechanisms are developed for legitimate reasons.
no subject
So are you about to replace one mechanism for another?
no subject
Actually, no. There are occasions upon which a drink is simply a drink.
