tampered | dance dance, we're falling apart to half time

Characters; Korra and her friends and anyone who happens to be in the club. Come one, come all!
Summary; Korra decides to celebrate 6 months in the City by dancing.
Log;She'd been woken up that morning by a incessant beeping noise; it took her a full three minutes to figure out it was her device and how to turn it off (she almost breaks it in her frustration, but she doubts she'd get any sympathy from Chekov if she broke yet another piece of electronic equipment).

What was so important that her device felt compelled to disturb her slumber?

Who sent it? How did they know? Korra doesn't bother wondering. Six months… At first the thought horrifies her…but it hasn't been all bad. She fingers the necklace that Chekov had given her.

She can either spend the day distracted and wallowing, or she can remind herself of the good things she has here.

She decides to go dancing.

It's clear no one ever taught her how to get dressed for clubbing; she's just wearing her "I Mustache You A Question" t-shirt and Chekov's necklace, a strange combination of casual and fancy. Somehow she makes it work. And it's a bit early in the night for the club to really be rocking, but that doesn't slow Korra down any. She's in the middle of the dance floor, being taught some new moves by the club's regulars and just in general having a grand old time.

Jinora braves the dance floor once she notices Tohru. She's a little flattered to see the older girl incorporating some (not technically perfect, but discernible!) airbending movements into her dancing. Then ten year-old waves as she nears.

"Tohru! Hello!"

"Jinora!" Tohru smiles excitedly when she hears her voice and spots her.

She reaches out for Jinora's hands, then asks, "You're going to dance, too? It was fun, the last time we did!"

"I can try," she says uncertainly, more than happy to let Tohru lead. She hadn't planned on dancing at all, but just a little won't hurt. "You look like you're having such a good time when you dance."

"I am!" Tohru admitted. She had never consider dancing before, but now that she had a taste, she realized she could forget a lot of worries when she did it. Even if it didn't last.

"I especially like the moves you taught me."

"You make them seem like real dance moves." And, more hesitantly, "How do you do it? Have fun when you dance?"

Tohru stops at that, giving Jinora a slightly worried look.

"Do you not have fun? It might just be me." Maybe Jinora was too thoughtful for it?

"No!" the girl insists. "A lot of people like it, but we never really dance at home and I don't know how to do it right."

"Do it right?" Tohru had to echo Jinora's words, baffled. "There's a certain way to do it right? I just thought you do whatever feels right?"

"Really?" This is clearly a novel idea. What is this thing that doesn't have rules or a right way to do it? "That's all?"

"Yes! That's all I do. I just took all the dancing moves everyone showed me and go with the beat," Tohru insisted. Then she gestured to the people around them.

"See? Everyone here does it a little differently, too. They have their own style as well. It's like people's skills, or their hearts. It's different for everyone."

Jinora looks around them. Tohru's right; no two people are dancing the exact same way.

"It sounds nice when you say it like that," she admits. It's like people's hearts. "So I just move the way I want to and listen to the music?"

Tohru nods her head and assures Jinora, "Yes. However you like! However you feel the music moves you. And I can twirl you, too, if you want?"

By the bright smile on her face, it's clear Tohru enjoys spinning, rather she's the one doing it, or helping it along.

"I wouldn't mind being twirled, just to start."

"Then I would like the pleasure to help you with that," Tohru said, happily as she reached for Jinora's hand.

Jinora takes her hand and goes along with the spin. It... really is kind of fun, actually. "And that's a spin?"

"Yes, that's one type!" Tohru says, then pulls Jinora close, her arm whirling just a bit around her, to then twirl her outwardly.

"And that's another one."

This time, Jinora actually laughs before going into a spin of her own, graceful by virtue of a good deal of airbending training rather than any idea as to what she's doing. "Where did you learn to do those?"

"From watching other people, and a couple of kind gentlemen I danced with that taught me a lot," Tohru answered. "I watched it done, and asked for them to do it in turn. We tried it out on each other. It works nicely, doesn't it?"

"You danced with boys?" It's rude to answer a question with another question, but if Tohru is dancing with boys, then Jinora needs details. "Were any of them cute? Do you like any of them?"

Tohru looks a little flustered to that, but doesn't find anything rude with it. She's just not sure how to approach answering it.

"Well, yes. I did. They were all very handsome," she says, though she's not that's what Jinora's looking for. "And they were all nice. I like them as people, and hope to meet again." But there was only one boy on her mind the way Jinora was looking for.

Asking the right questions, she might get the right answers.

Of course Tohru liked them all as people; she's Tohru. Jinora is not deterred.

"But did you like any of them?" she replies in an attempt to clarify. "Were any of them special?"

"I'm sure all of them are special in their own way," Tohru says with a bright smile.

"But are any of them special to you? In a boyfriend way?"

Flustered, Tohru blushes.

"No," she answers, honestly, but then in a whispered voice tells Jinora, "But if you can keep a secret, back home there is a boy I feel that way about. I think. He is very special to me."

Jinora clasps her hands excitedly, but keeps her voice quiet. "Of course I can keep a secret. Do you love him?"
