Lucky's casino is busy as usual on Thursday, but those inside will notice that the stage normally reserved for entertainment is shrouded in a large curtain. The owner is seated, prepared to listen to the audition of a buxom blond who seems shy and has no real command over the stage. After a deep breath, she begins to sing in a voice barely above a whisper:

"Happy birthday to you~"

Before she can really get into the meat of the song, the curtain rises to reveal an unusual spectacle. Women of all sizes and shapes dressed comfortably in next to nothing. Those inside the casino can see them make a musical entrance. They seem to dote especially on the owner, who appears to be hoisted in his seat by two beefy men in shiny speedos. They carry him closer to what appears to be a cake.

It's not.

The exterior slips away revealing a mounted pole and another woman who has no problem steadying her stilettos on the arms of the chair the owner is being held captive in from time to time.

Looks like it's SOMEONE'S BIRTHDAY

All varieties of business continue as usual after the reveal. The women and men will flirt with anyone who has the means to earn their attention. There's even a new racehorse to the circuit being promoted out back! Come evening, patriotic Americans launch fireworks into the night sky. So come! There's good company, gambling, drinks and dancing-- eat, drink and be merry in honor of the holiday and Meyer Lansky's birthday!

"Nah. You'd need some thing less filled with stuff. Maybe you could get a building and rent it out for parties like this," she suggests.

It's good for business, Meyer. Now people know the Casino exists and they'll come back.

"Hosting parties isn't exactly my forte, I'm afraid. Anything you see here was orchestrated by other people. I'm just the recipient of..."

He gestures lazily, looking for a word. "Their generosity."

Generosity seems fair, given the trouble that has obviously been gone to to make this place look so wild.

"Do you like it?" It's hard to tell with him sometimes.

[recognize_an_opportunity]

"Well..."

He looks around the casino thoughtfully before taking a sip of a drink -- it might not even be his own drink, he's not sure -- and then slowly nods.

"I think so."

She leans over and gives him a kiss on the cheek. "Good! You should like your presents."

[recognize_an_opportunity]

Surprisingly, he doesn't lean away from the kiss on the cheek, either. Clearly, he's very mellow at the moment, perhaps unusually so. There have obviously been some substances used that have helped with this.

"It's all a bit much to take in, of course. There's so much going on."

Anywhere he looks, he sees something new and exciting -- and likely, scantily clad.

"And I suppose you can't leave your own party, if you wanted to?"

There really is a lot going on. It's fun!

"I guess I could leave my party, but I'm not inclined to. After all the work they put into making it enjoyable, that'd be rude."

It's not exactly his scene, but then, big parties never have been. He's obviously the kind of person who's far more inclined to something smaller and more staid, but it's good to break out of one's comfort zone occasionally. At least, that's what people say.

And I almost tagged this with Theo

"I wonder what they were thinking! It really doesn't seem your sort of thing."

She takes a gulp of drink and then some peanuts. Fun things those. This is her scene. And small get togethers. She doesn't like being alone.

"They were thinking that it'd be amusing to see how I reacted."

And, to be fair, it probably had been. The way he'd stood there -- or rather sat there -- staring in disbelief, the way he'd been unable to ask even the most basic of questions, and had been completely taken aback, all of that probably was funny.

At the time, it hadn't seemed particularly funny to him, but a few hours and quite a few drinks later, it does seem a bit amusing.

There's a snort from her. "That's a lousy reason. Well... it's funny, but still."

She wishes she could have seen it. But still, to throw a party just so you could see someone react doesn't seem fair.

"Well, I think they were hoping I'd loosen up a little. Have some fun."

And he seems to have done just that, although it had taken quite a bit. He's no longer actively looking uncomfortable whenever a girl wearing very little walks by, for example.

"Did it work?"

She was able to kiss him on the cheek.

"I think so. What do you think?"

He certainly does look more relaxed than usual. He hasn't even evaded her cheek kisses, or tried to stop her from flirting with him.

"I think it's working. I think it looks good on you and you should do it more often."

It's weird!

[recognize_an_opportunity]

"I don't know about more often. The casino couldn't sustain this kind of atmosphere every day, after all, and we'd all get pretty tired eventually."

There's that logic of his, winning out as always, even after drinking a considerable amount of alcohol.

[water_wine_wizard]

"I meant relaxing and loosening up, silly."

She pats his cheek. He's adorable.

[recognize_an_opportunity]

"If I spent my time relaxed and loosened up, nothing would ever get done around here."

But he has to admit, it's kind of nice once and awhile.

[water_wine_wizard]

"Bah! I'm plenty of relaxed and loosened up and I get lots of things done."

It's very nice. Yes. Maybe he could put it on his schedule.

[recognize_an_opportunity]

"Yeah? Maybe I'll have to make more time for it. Not for parties like this, though."

[water_wine_wizard]

"Oh, no, of course not. Parties like this would be ridiculous. But just some fun time. Going dancing somewhere else or maybe going the theater."

[recognize_an_opportunity]

"Tell me this truthfully..."

He sways a little in his seat, obviously far more effected by the alcohol than he gives himself credit for.

"... can you imagine me dancing?"

"Yes, I could. But I could see anyone dancing, so I'm not the right person to ask.]

[recognize_an_opportunity]

"And with a few more drinks in me, you might not just have to imagine it."

Not that he really thinks he'll be dancing. But stranger things have happened.

"I'll be kind and not feed them to you to see it."

They have! But she's not going to get Meyer completely smashed to see him dance.

"And there still always the theater."
