Mingle Log!

When; July 5th through July 7th!
Rating; G+
Characters; Open to ALL, 4th Wallers and Citizens!
Summary; The celebrations continue, and the Anonymous regime has summoned guests that Citizens might (not) prove very thrilled to see! As opposed to other Fourth Wall events, all visiting characters will have been invited to the City, or they must arrive here of their own will.

Mingle! Explore~!

Log;

There's so much to do and so much to see in this City of cities. From tromping through Xanadu, long walks along the shore, shopping in the Square, hunting in the forest, meeting a contact in the Underground, or getting as many answers as possible at the Welcoming Center how can anyone decide on just one. In three days time so much can be done!

Shops and restaurants are having specials. Happy hour has become happy days in some bars. This is quite the occasion! When the City decides to celebrate, it becomes contagious. Why not smile and strike up a conversation with a stranger? After all, a stranger is a friend you haven't met yet.

[ in such an uncharacteristic fashion, he returns the hug, arms going around jim's waist and squeezing him tightly like he's afraid to let go. for the first time since this whole issue rose from the ashes again, bones gets his own confirmation that jim is alive, still alive, and he did save him. it's not just some dumb doctor's foolish fluke. not just his own wishful thinking. and when they get back, jim will be saved, and bones will get to have him for another year, and many more after that.

jim is alive, bones has his best friend back, and they're good. they'll be good.

he sighs, and with one last squeeze, he slowly pulls away from the hug, face pinched. he's either trying to hold back his own emotions by pretending to annoyed or he's just reached his personal quota on feelings and emotions in conversations.
]
hischair: (hey lil mama lemme whisper in yo ear.)

[personal profile] hischair 2013-07-07 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
[ Jim sinks into the hug whole-heartedly, gathering Bones up as much as he lets himself be held. Whereas there's a part of him that needs to know Spock is safe and alive, he wouldn't ask this of him, the thin line of neediness that comes with caring so much isn't tightrope-walked now but steam-rolled, the scent of food and sweat and something that is delightfully Bones (a slice of home) cheering him up more effectively than duking it out with words ever could. He remembers hugging Sam and how his big brother would scoop him up after a playfight, long arms wrapping all the way around Jim's tiny, shrimpy body. This is no less welcome but he stands on equal ground here, wanting to be the one that his family can run to as much as he looks over his shoulder for them. Maybe he will be in the dark, cold and afraid again someday, but he'll make more of an effort to remember how warm moments like this make him feel and it won't be so bad.

Tactfully, he huffs as Bones schools himself again and glances to the kitchen. He does a genuine double-take. ]

... Did you burn something?

[ that would be the chicken.

he curses and runs.
]

Don't you dare laugh!
killerstyle: (Finnick -- feeling devious)

[personal profile] killerstyle 2013-07-07 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe, but I bet I'm cuter. And also, I don't spit.

[He lets her down and lets her take his hand as well, content to follow wherever she leads.]

In here?
hischair: (looking good.)

[personal profile] hischair 2013-07-07 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ Rolling his eyes, he follows after him and adopts a distinctly thoughtful, critical tone. ]

What kind of doctor cremates their patients ... ?

[ They'll be alright, all three of them, just like Jim promised. ]
orangetoughguy: (you heard what he said)

[personal profile] orangetoughguy 2013-07-07 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Chaos" but sometimes one guy's chaos is another guy's routine.

[Freddy actually winks this time because it's an idea that applies to police officers when compared to civilians. In this case it also applies to people from Earth and people from somewhere else like Narnia or the many different fucked up Japans he's heard about or the one where the Holy British Army is in Arizona.]

High enough, not always by choice or burnout. Some people just go home. I got lucky with my partner, he's from Detroit.

[Jabber jawing but hey this is information that could become useful to John Cooper if he stays. Oh shit Newendyke you shouldn't want people to stay. Not after just meeting them.]
actsharpbesharp: (lawful good)

[personal profile] actsharpbesharp 2013-07-07 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
[These words ring true as clear as a bell. Any citizen in Cooper's shoes would call it real chaos. Even a soldier or two.

That wink though. Cooper smiles but when he's facing another direction. This fucker.]

Just go home? Pop in, pop out? That would only lend to disorganization.

[Not that he's heard aaaanything, that's what he's acting like. The Lady doctor mentioned things being screwed up.]

You both don't have that East Coast verses West Coast rivalry? That happens a time or two. Even now.

[After the 90s. How down was Freddy with Biggie and Tupac?]
orangetoughguy: (briefing)

[personal profile] orangetoughguy 2013-07-07 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah you'd think, but it's held on pretty long.

[The kid nods.]

The force was here before I was. They had cops from all kinds of places, I heard this one chick came from where they had to police magic. Alchemy stuff.

[Freddy had never met Riza Hawkeye and if he did he'd regret ever calling her a 'chick'. When John mentions a rivalry he just laughs.] I call it soda he calls it pop. Fucking weird.

[Another look over the street with caramel green eyes.] Is it just you?

[Just another thing Larry and the partner have in common.]
actsharpbesharp: (sharing)

[personal profile] actsharpbesharp 2013-07-07 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe the will of man backed by the hand of God?

[Because a pocket full of dreams isn't going to stop you from a 200 lb naked guy on PCP, magical PCP.]

Do they still have cops from everywhere?

[Police magic and a woman doing it. That's a story to tell to Chickie. Cooper stifles a laugh. It is all too much. The other cop's easy going manner makes it easier to not be such of a stone face. That's the familiar comfort of having another blue around with some age. You can trust them.]

Then it will escalate to dinner and supper. Wait and see.

[Har har har. Cooper nods.]

Just me. The radio's been dead since I got here. No squad car. If someone else is out there, I haven't seen or heard. There's an internet connection coming through. Some Network.

[ this face, jim. this face. ]
hischair: (or this could not be a thing.)

[personal profile] hischair 2013-07-07 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
What, I genuinely did like you!

[ Sighing, he spreads his hands where he's sitting on the other side of the picnic table. ]

I wasn't thinking about anyone but myself, I admit it. I was going to speak to you after the summons, but then we all got fired off into space and ... Gaila, I'm sorry.
orangetoughguy: (i'm walkin here)

[personal profile] orangetoughguy 2013-07-07 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I told you about Captain America.

[And a vulcan maybe. Also some other super powered people. Somebody who sees ghost. An actual ghost hunter. A vampire cowboy. And also his partner though Freddy stops just shy of telling John Cooper what it is that makes Ferguson's Detroit a bit different from the one they know.]

I gotcha. The Network's kind of like the internet.

[Oh no, Freddy Newendyke talking about something far advanced already in Cooper's day.] We use it for fucking everything. I even have a 'smartphone'. But we use a radio in the car, it keeps calls off the 'grid'.
actsharpbesharp: (gritty details)

[personal profile] actsharpbesharp 2013-07-07 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
Your God.

[Captain America. Comics are okay. The holy book? Well, to each their very fucking own. He can only imagine the rogue's gallery at the City police HQ.]

You don't say.

[It comes out with still too much of a sarcastic tinge to it. Oops. Smartphones were not around in 1992. That's worth toning down the sarcasm.]

Nice to know there's a way to separate it all.

[Radio. Grid and shit those are words he can understand.]

Wait. You're not on duty are you?

[Right now.]
orangetoughguy: (preparing monologues)

[personal profile] orangetoughguy 2013-07-07 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
[He's not the kid's god, gawd, but he does come close. The Fantastic Four on the other hand...Cooper ought to be glad he's not babbling on about comic books.]

Me? No. No, I'm off duty. I'm...

[What are you doing, Newendyke? Just hanging around? Waiting for Larry to get off work? Doing...stuff.]

It's not a big island, there aren't that many places to see.
actsharpbesharp: (shades)

[personal profile] actsharpbesharp 2013-07-07 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Almost there. That's how many mentions of Captain America? He's paying attention.]

Waiting for your turn back on.

[Now that, that right there sounds like the hardest time of all. Is it possible to just continue life as it should be in LA to the best of your abilities? The proof or at least attempt is right there with him. That is one more degree of respect for Freddy from Cooper. A man cannot be blamed for trying. Any lesser could turn the other cheek and use this all to fuck off, do what they want how they want it.]

If you don't mind, since I consider myself on call, you show me what's on there?

[A head nod to him and his smartphone. He hasn't directly tried to find anything of worth for a cop on the Network. Now is a good time.]
cadet: (Default)

[personal profile] cadet 2013-07-07 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
And you saved the system, got a starship, and couldn't be bothered to even send a silly transmission to the girl you screwed over in the process.

[ she frowns because, ] I genuinely liked you, too.
cadet: (Default)

[personal profile] cadet 2013-07-07 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
Transporter mishap, Commander.

[ which is easier than trying to regurgitate the timey-wimey explanation jim gave her. she had been trying to beam down to the mars training facility when she ended up here instead. ]
orangetoughguy: (then a bump)

[personal profile] orangetoughguy 2013-07-07 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
[He gives a casual but kind of sheepish shrug.]

Yeah. Sure. You can say that.

[It's true. Of course the second Larry's off the clock Freddy here has all kinds of plans, whether they're as extravagant as rib eye or plain as tacos before the arcade. His friends have dwindled in numbers, the price of popping in and out.]

Yeah? You wanna see, I can show you. You've got one don't you? Well if you don't we can use mine.

[A part of Freddy knows John Cooper might not even stay. It appears to be one of those weekends.]
actsharpbesharp: (T-O)

[personal profile] actsharpbesharp 2013-07-07 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Even if you're off the clock, a cop never stops being a cop. That's how it is. Freddy gets that. He has a life, an order to the chaos around him. Chaos doesn't stop the drive for order even when it is not your time to answer the call. One more reason why Cooper does not feel remorse for asking to have a look on the Network from an off duty City cop. A little know how for right now.]

I do. I should.

[Pat, pat to pockets. Breast first then back. Yeah. There he did have it after all. With ease, his fingers unlock it and then he hands it to the local expert.]

If you don't have yours that might screw a few things over, wouldn't it?
hischair: (fascinating floor yep.)

[personal profile] hischair 2013-07-07 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
I had bigger problems to deal with than just being me.

[ And it takes a lot for him to say that, turning to sit astride the bench so he doesn't have to look directly at her when he does. ]
orangetoughguy: (voila)

[personal profile] orangetoughguy 2013-07-07 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
Just a little.

[Freddy chirps while taking John's device to get it running. He knows most people from years after him already know how these phones work, but he's got the advantage of being familiar with the Network. It's not quite the same as 4G speed.]

See here?

[He points out the endless scrolling of people bitching on the Network.] These are your neighbors.
actsharpbesharp: (lonely as i am)

[personal profile] actsharpbesharp 2013-07-07 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Not 4G is a thing he has to deal with. Okay. Lots of scrolling. Lots of scrolling.]

Just locally or everyone here at all?

[It is like facebook? There is so much disappointment.]
orangetoughguy: (we look at stuff)

[personal profile] orangetoughguy 2013-07-07 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
Everyone here at all if they wanna be on it. Sometimes it's the only thing you've got. I think it's called 'social media' or something. You probably know about it better than I do.

[What's a Facebook??]

It's the first place anybody checks for shit going on around here. Outside of patrol anyway.
actsharpbesharp: (black and white)

[personal profile] actsharpbesharp 2013-07-07 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe.

[You have to socialize on social media to properly use it. With the work you have to check it out. And with friends you mean to keep in touch with. Somehow it is more accessible than a cellphone to a few contacts. That must be why it can be all you've got.]

This will be where you get the real tone of the situation.

[Before you roll up with big guns to a noisy Sweet Sixteen that just is very fond of pop guns.]
orangetoughguy: (that's what he said)

[personal profile] orangetoughguy 2013-07-07 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah. Me and my partner roll up all the fucking time, gotta know why we weren't invited to the party.

[Even when that party consists of six legged alien types no taller than Freddy's hip, and that's pretty short.]

At least you got to keep all your gear. It's kind of hearsay but you either go back after all the time you've missed or you go back and you ain't missed any time at all.
