Summary; Scott overbooks his day which means after a puppy drive comes a housewarming so everyone can meet his mom and friends. Also, this is apparently what people do when they move in to new places and he and his mom never had one in Beacon Hills. Also Beacon Hills dinner!

Scott has had a busy day. In a lot of ways he's had a busy week but, really, today has been the busiest. He started early, cleaning up the shelter and setting up for the fastest animal drive known to man. After moving everything back inside, he heads straight for his and his mom's new apartment. It's looking more and more like it's going to be just them which is all right. But, luckily, everyone is invited over that afternoon.

After his mom takes their new kitten, Scott grabs a few deli and vegetable platters with dips, sodas, and a platter of fried chicken before bringing them home. He asks Stiles if has anything like an iPod or something to play music with. And luckily, people are bringing food and drinks.

Their furniture is sparse at first. There's a sage green sectioned couch, a dining room table and several chairs. Three of the four rooms have bedroom sets. But, they have the room if need be. Scott has volunteered his bathroom to be the guest bathroom and like a good son, he takes coats into his bedroom and sets them on the bed.

He figures this is a good time to mix, to mingle, and for everyone to meet everyone - and his mother. He wants to make her proud. He's a little tired but he's managing. He changes outfits and washes up before people get there so he doesn't smell like dog. Of course, he kind of always smells like dog but only to the trained nose.

Later on, his mother insists everyone from Beacon Hills stay for a proper dinner. In Scott's world, his mom's word is law - unless it interferes with werewolf business. But, there's really hardly any of that here so, everyone should be grateful? Maybe they can do this.

Scott can either be found filling his plate, helping his mom in the kitchen or playing with their new kitten on the couch. That is, until too many people arrive and their nameless wonder retreats into one of the bedrooms. If a song comes on that he just can't have, he'll move over to change it. He's super easy going and trying not to let Stiles staying with Derek affect him. It's Stiles' choice, even though it's a really weird one. He really is happy you're here!

[medicos]

Before the entire mess with the Star Trek boys, it was a happy occasion and Bones has got a smashing peace cobbler for everyone to try. It's the only thing he can do that he's really proud of, so Scott and have at it.

"Got some room for this one, kid?"

[affectioning]

Scott looks up as he finishes placing a Shepard's Pie on the table. When did he get here? Awesome.

"Yeah!" Pulling a chair out, he moves the salad bowl onto it and sets the peach cobbler down in its place. If people want salad, they'll grab something lower. It's no big deal. The peach cobbler is what matters. "It looks delicious..."

She hasn't anticipated the housewarming being rightthissecond, but that's her boy. It was a real rush to the store to get enough food, and she even had to cheat a bit and get several pre-made sandwich platters.

But...maybe this way, she'll get a chance to meet more people from this strange City that she's now calling home.

[studmuffin]

"Stilinski, at your service."

He grins and moves to help her set out some of the food, his nervous energy tamped down enough for him to help. "What can I do?"

[mamanurse]

She smiles at him, and points one finger at him.

"You can help me by putting the ice in the cooler with the drinks."

And then she reaches up and ruffles his hair.

"I'm glad you're here, Stiles."

[studmuffin]

He tries not to show just how pleased that slightest bit of affection makes him. But she's like a mom to him, he spends so much time at her house back home that she couldn't not be. So he grins and he grabs the cooler to fill it up with ice.

"You're doing okay, right?"

[affectioning]

Honestly, he left out the "Saturday" part of the equation and instead of getting back on and making it clear - he had animals to tend to! - well, he had no choice? But, his mom's being great and he already apologized (and because she's Melissa, it's no big deal.) And nothing is wrong with pre-made anything. They're delicious.

Scott's in the kitchen unwrapping the plastic of one of the vegetable platters.

"I think you'll really like everyone."

[mamanurse]

"I'm sure I will," she answers with a wry little smirk.

"I just hope nobody takes one look at our apartment, and calls Child Protective Services on me."

[affectioning]

"If it helps, I don't think there is a Child Protective Services here?" And hey, they have the bare essentials. She has cookware, too. And when they can afford it, they'll get a microwave and a toaster. At least it came with a fridge. They'll be fine.

"But, you're doing great." As a mom and with all of this. "We can put everything out on the table?"

Isaac's here mostly because he's still new, and obviously he'd want to stick to places where he still knew people. It was nice being with everyone, like he'd barely actually left home, the only real difference right now was a lack of immediate danger. He can be found probably hanging around in some corner, ready for conversation and/or introductions. That and he wanted to prove that he can still be here for Scott while living with Derek.

[affectioning]

Everybody is hanging in the corners! It's not an altogether huge apartment - though huge enough with four bedrooms. Scott is sure to introduce anyone he can to Isaac, to his mother, etc. At some point he finds himself stopping his co-hosting duties and standing beside his friend, watching everyone mingle.

"This is weird." He looks over to Isaac.

[outofthefreezer]

"Weird? How?" Because it was totally weird and uncomfortable, almost as if there was tension in the room for whatever reason. He kept looking from Scott to Stiles and back again.

[affectioning]

"Moving in somewhere new. Stiles staying with Derek," he says, looking at Isaac. "They're friends." He understands but he doesn't? "He's pack." How does that work? Pack is more than wolves, now? It's a state of mind?

Jimmy wanders into the housewarming at some point or another and mostly stays on the periphery, looking around for anyone he knows. It's not that he's not used to parties -- although, depending on his mood, he's not always the most exciting party guest -- but he can't think of the last time (if ever) he's been to a housewarming, and he feels just a little shy, even though he'd been invited. Especially if the kid's mom is here.

That's why he can probably be found in the corner, occasionally smiling at people, but not butting into conversations like he usually does. He's playing the part of respectful guest pretty well, he thinks.

You know the cure for shyness? Being friends with Scott McCall - as he is a great wingman and friend when he wants to be. He made sure to greet Jimmy at the door, offer to take his suit coat (lol, not something you do, Scott) before having to do something like take out the trash. But, some time into the proceedings, he tracks down his friend in the corner. He brought him a premade roast beef sandwich.

"Hungry?" He holds it out to him.

[trenchknives]

It's strange, really. Jimmy wouldn't usually describe himself as a shy guy; he has no problem speaking up in just about any situation, and from the way he swears and carries on saying purposefully shocking things, people'd think he was about as extroverted as one could possibly get, but that's not necessarily the case. That's why he appreciates Scott's attempts to draw him out, and he really appreciates the sandwich, which he takes with a grin.

"Yeah, thanks. Nice place you got here."

He means it. It actually looks like the kind of place that could develop into being something homey, something more than just a place to sleep. His own apartment isn't exactly well decorated, to put it mildly.

[affectioning]

Scott settles next to him, giving the apartment a once over.

"Thanks," he replies. "And thanks for coming," he makes sure to say, grateful his new friend has made it. "Even though it's all fast, like, really fast - it's nice." It's a nicer place then he thought they could get. He hasn't been to many places here in the City. But, they don't have dumps. Not that he's seen, anyway.

Scott's mostly surprised his mother got Derek Hale to join them for dinner. But, he'd helped them move in (also a surprise) so he had to stay. That's... probably how she did it, come to think of it. He sits near Stiles, not needing to be right there next to his mom. All in all, today has been a pretty good day. He's still worried about his best friend and Isaac adjusting and Derek Hale being Derek Hale but maybe they can all do this!

Kicking Scott in the ankle helpfully.

Or y'know, just checking they're cool even if Stiles has betrayed the bro-code.

[affectioning]

Scott and Stiles haven't had a lot of time to talk. They helped his mom set up for the party and then people were arriving. But, he thought he'd let Stiles know they were okay that morning.

Scott looks to his right, cheekful of something.

What?

[studmuffin]

He pulls a face, something silly and furrowed like even though he knows Scott says it's okay he needs like ... a proper sign.

Besides, so much has happened in so little time it's just weird.

This is pretty terrifying.

Stiles keeps sneaking looks between everyone and trying not to flip out. It's the most of Beacon Hills that he's ever had to deal with and he's pretty sure all of his secrets are written right across his face.

So he's just going to inspect all of the McCall's new tableware.
