Scott has broken bro code. It's the highest offense. While he can't deny his newfound feelings and how deep they go, he can't in good conscience accept this new reality until he tracks down his best friend and breaks the news to him. Even if Stiles is doing whatever the hell with Derek Hale, this is still Lydia Martin. Stiles has had a crush on her since day one in school. All Scott heard through middle school was Lydia Martin this, Lydia Martin that and somehow, he's come out the victor.

He doesn't feel like he's won, though, not until his BFF gives them his blessing. So, he picks up two hoagies, uses his fake ID to get a six pack of some kind of beer (maybe the teller hadn't seen his birthday post, maybe the teller was haplessly in love himself) and drops by the Hale-Stilinski-Lahey cabin.

Working up his courage, he heads inside to find his best friend.

Scott McCall and Lydia Martin (after falling for one another, of course) separate for a few hours. Scott returns to the shelter, checking on things. He drops in on Angela and Ginny's cafe to see if they need anything for the afternoon. Lydia for her part, returns her spoils from shopping war and does her own thing, perhaps upping the ante on his surprise party and planning aspects of that.

[ In fact, anybody in the City can feel free to bump into either one of them, indicating who they want in the subject line. They can be found all afternoon throughout the City. I'm sure we can work with it. ]

Isaac and Derek are probably off doing wolf-y stuff so it's just Stiles, sprawled over the couch like he belongs there, a book held aloft above his face. When Scott enters, Stiles looks surprised but not unhappy.

"Yo!"

Scott hadn't mentioned he was coming over but it's not like he needs to.

[affectioning]

Considering the amount of times Scott and Stiles have dropped in on one another - pre-werewolf, anyway, it shouldn't be surprise, no. Well, him showing up is, that he would isn't.

"Hey man," he says, coming into the living room and setting his bag down on a chair. "You busy right now?"

[studmuffin]

"Nope, just reading some of the City's more interesting texts."

He's pretty sure it's an alien love story disguised as a text book so he scoots back, allows Scott room on the couch. "What's up?"

[affectioning]

He drops down, giving the cover of the text a look. "Looks interesting." It doesn't. Besides, he's also preoccupied. He's nervous, upset, excited. For his part, he's happy Stiles isn't the werewolf. He smiles, opens his mouth to say something and wonders how he should frame it. So, he sits back against couch and sighs, content.

"I'm in love."

[studmuffin]

His eyebrows lift at that, a smirk curling his mouth.

"Dude, I know. I thought we were over you telling me every day?"

[affectioning]

"No, not with Allison." And there, the first time he's said her name all day and it's - okay. The universe didn't collapse. And he wasn't in love with Allison anymore, anyway. They'd had four months apart. He missed her, sure. He'd had that closet moment but that was more about her close proximity. "This is new. It's - Stiles, it's amazing." He sits up again. "I can't believe I never saw it. And maybe, maybe it's because of you," be starts, shifting to face him. "I didn't plan it. Neither of us did. It just happened and it feels right. When I look at her, my heart beats faster. It's like I'm seeing her for the first time."

He takes a second, lost in is own thought and vision of Lydia Martin before regarding his best friend again.

"But, if you're not happy or I crossed a line, then we won't do anything. I know you were into that girl from kindergarten. I don't want to ruin what you and I just got back because, it's Lydia. I love Lydia."

[studmuffin]

There's a long moment where Stiles doesn't say anything and then he starts laughing. He can't help it, it's deep and uncontrollable and hurts his belly so much that he has to wrap his arm around his stomach for a second. ]

You -- You and Lydia? [ Deep breathing. ] Oh my god I needed that, I haven't laughed like that in forever.

[affectioning]

Of course he'd react this way. Did he not sound serious enough? This is deadly serious. Lydia Martin has captured his heart, Stiles.

"Really," he says. "It's not that funny. Jackson never treated her well. You know that. She's finally found someone who can treat her right. And she's so much smarter than me." Why this is a turn on for Scott McCall in this very moment, only the curse gods know. "We talked about it. We're on the same page. We love each other, Stiles. We didn't plan it. And I'm, I'm really sorry but I wanted you to hear it from me."

[studmuffin]

Stiles pauses. He knows Scott's serious voice. Curiosity fills his face but he doesn't seem angry or upset or -. Anything, really.

Scott's cursed, Stiles is 90% certain of that. "Hey, it's okay. Uh. When did this happen?"

[affectioning]

"It's always been there," he says, feeling as if it has. "But, today she was trying on shoes. She asked me to put one on her which is so Lydia, I looked up, and I just... knew, you know? Like, when I saw Allison for the first time. Something just clicked into place."

Scott is 100% unaware of this. But, good deduction skills!

[studmuffin]

"Why didn't you say anything?"

Stiles doesn't believe it at all. Scott would have told him.

[affectioning]

"It kicked in this morning," he says, remembering earlier. "It's like we finally saw each other. I finally saw her. We kissed the one time but there was a full moon but this is different." Admittedly, he'd kissed her. She kind of kissed him. Scott is unaware at this moment if he's letting a big secret out. Did he ever tell Stiles he'd kissed Lydia when he was supposedly trying to find out if Lydia liked Stiles? He probably didn't.

[studmuffin]

He did. Stiles retaliated with the dog bowl. They're okay now. And he knows this is a curse so he's not going to end up handcuffing Scott to a radiator.

"Okay. So you and Lydia realised you were in love at the same time?"

[affectioning]

"Yeah. Isn't that cool? Romantic, even?" Stiles is taking this really well... "You're okay? You're not mad?"

[studmuffin]

"I'm not mad."

Suspicious though.

[affectioning]

"Great," he replies. "We have each others' backs. Always." Forever. And all that. He smiles at Stiles, hopefully.

[studmuffin]

He lifts up a hand, "Pinky-promise."

[affectioning]

He will pinky to that promise.

[studmuffin]

But still, Lydia.

"So you two ... what happens next?"

[affectioning]

"Tonight we're telling my mom," he explains, settling back again.

[studmuffin]

"Okay."

At least she won't let them sleep together?

[affectioning]

This is why they're going to do that before dinner. Can he scrub his eyes out with soap? And mouth?

"We're getting carry-out."

[studmuffin]

"Cool. I wish you luck with that. If your mom reacts badly just wait it out and talk to her tomorrow, okay?"

[affectioning]

"Yeah, you're right. But, why would she react badly?"
