Scott McCall is a consummate gentleman. His mother taught him well. Even if, say, he's not in any way, shape, or form good friends with or dating Lydia Martin, he's still going to do the right thing and help her out when she needs it - at least until she gets settled in. He feels responsible for her, for Stiles, and maybe in a way because he can't be there for Stiles, he wants to be there for her.

Things are different here. Isaac is living with Derek. He misses that, too. Stiles is still his best friend but Stiles doesn't need him. It's weird to say. It's even weirder to say he needs Stiles. While they're on their way back to being on the same wavelength slowly but surely, they aren't, yet. And he still has all this responsibility at the shelter-clinic. He puts Wally in charge of the guys during the morning of the twentieth. He trusts him. Wally promises things will go smoothly.

He takes the morning off from the shelter to help Lydia do one final round of shopping. Because Sunday was the day of outfits. Today is apparently the day of shoes.

Scott isn't a fashion guru by any means. But, he can climb high to get those pair of shoes that she sees on the very freaking top shelf. Some might say, he can do so inconspicuously. He can also give his straight and some might say, wrong opinion.

"They're ... nice?" he says, meaning well.

It's their second store into their outing when he's idly checking the network as Lydia Martin tries on a pair of some kind of shoe. Maybe he should be paying more attention.

Scott has broken bro code. It's the highest offense. While he can't deny his newfound feelings and how deep they go, he can't in good conscience accept this new reality until he tracks down his best friend and breaks the news to him. Even if Stiles is doing whatever the hell with Derek Hale, this is still Lydia Martin. Stiles has had a crush on her since day one in school. All Scott heard through middle school was Lydia Martin this, Lydia Martin that and somehow, he's come out the victor.

He doesn't feel like he's won, though, not until his BFF gives them his blessing. So, he picks up two hoagies, uses his fake ID to get a six pack of some kind of beer (maybe the teller hadn't seen his birthday post, maybe the teller was haplessly in love himself) and drops by the Hale-Stilinski-Lahey cabin.

Working up his courage, he heads inside to find his best friend.

Scott McCall and Lydia Martin (after falling for one another, of course) separate for a few hours. Scott returns to the shelter, checking on things. He drops in on Angela and Ginny's cafe to see if they need anything for the afternoon. Lydia for her part, returns her spoils from shopping war and does her own thing, perhaps upping the ante on his surprise party and planning aspects of that.

[ In fact, anybody in the City can feel free to bump into either one of them, indicating who they want in the subject line. They can be found all afternoon throughout the City. I'm sure we can work with it. ]

Scott and Lydia have big news. Neither one is expecting that his mother has found someone as well. Instead, they see themselves revealing their true love and receiving his mother's blessing. Why shouldn't she be happy about her son and formerly the most popular girl in school? Lydia's an actual genius, she's gorgeous and she loves her son.

Lydia and Scott take care of dinner which really just means getting carry-out from the cafe but it still counts if they put it on plates, right? They steal a moment to themselves before Scott goes to pick up carry-out, finally consummating the love that burned deep within - something the both of them will take forever to recover from in the morning (and will never mention ever again).

Why did his mother bring a guy home? Scott's a good kid, he's not usually one to cry stolen thunder. And yet, he feels a little bit gypped. And he's not exactly happy about his mother's suitor. He screams Peter Hale. He wants her to be happy...

So, now they're sitting at the dinner table. Nobody is talking. Apparently, news needs to be shared all around.
