Somewhere There's a Party [OPEN!]
When: Evening of Aug 23rd
Where: Xanadu, in the forest area.
Rating: PG-13 to maybe R? I dunno.
Characters: EVERYONE
Summary: It's Scott McCall's Very Merry Un-Birthday! Lydia Martin is your hostess with the mostest.
Log:
Fairy lights have been strung up amongst the trees, providing the partygoers with just enough illumination to feel like it's a party without being over-bright. An area has been cleared for dancing. There are also two main tables; one full of food, and the other a please to leave gifts and cards and the like.
Food is buffet style and there are no waiters, but there are two small bar setups with tenders manning them - no need for id at this party, kids. Perhaps most interestingly of all, now and again one or two people seem to drop down from the trees, scantily clad and performing brief feats of acrobatics using aerial silks and one or two person trapezes before clambering back up into the branches and disappearing into the greenery once more.

"Stop thinking about it and dance" is obviously the correct answer.]
Why? That would be the same as celebrating sunrises or sleeping or dinner.
no subject
Sometimes sunrises, sleeping, and dinner are worth celebrating.
I should show you what I mean sometime.
[Yes, Chekov, the literate girl is flirting with you.]
no subject
You will need to if you want me to believe you.
no subject
Challenge accepted, Mr. Chekov. When are you going to take me out to dinner? I'll pick the place.
[Stealth date set up is stealthy.]
no subject
It doesn't take someone with Lydia's formidable intelligence to pick up on Chekov's uncertainty.]
I--eh, when do you prefer?
no subject
Got any plans tomorrow? Scatch that, now you have plans tomorrow.
[She lifts a brow.]
Unless you have something better to do than a take a hot intelligent redhead out to dinner.
no subject
[UGH, she is a hot and intelligent redhead. How is that even fair?]
I should tell you--Iamseeingsomeone [it really does come out as one word] but would still like to go to dinner with you, if that is acceptable.
no subject
And yet, Lydia is undaunted.]
As long as your girlfriend doesn't mind. Is she your girlfriend or just someone you're seeing?
[Definitions are important, you see.]
no subject
There is a difference?
Lydia needs to write an advice column
Sure there is. You can be seeing someone but if you haven't actually agreed you're being exclusive, well then, you're not. There's nothing wrong with seeing more than one person, as long as everyone involved understands the boundaries.
Yes, please--help all of these clueless boys
Ah, well. My girlfriend would not mind if we have dinner. Where am I taking you?
no subject
[You know, Lydia's mouth has been close to his ear this whole time for conversation's sake, except now it's close and it's different because there might be a thing going on regarding her breath and his adorkable ear.]
Because if you were my boyfriend and you were taking another woman out to dinner, I'd probably be exceedingly jealous.
[Lydia tries not to be a homewrecker or anything, but sometimes a little bit of a danger walk can be fun. She does at least tilt back to more conversational distance, though.]
I'll have to do a little research on that. Where to go for dinner, I mean. Just dress nicely and have a little faith.
no subject
You would be?
[Lydia needs to stop being gorgeous immediately.]
Research, yes, okay. I will trust you.
no subject
Of course I would be. Wouldn't you be jealous if I was your girlfriend and some other guy wanted to take me out to dinner?
[Sometimes Lydia is deliciously, deliciously cruel.]
I'm sure I'll find something we'll both enjoy.

[Lydia isn't too bad at saying the right things herself. She can dance, too--she definitely has one up on Chekov.]
