We used to ride, baby ride around in limousines [Closed]
When; September 20th
Rating; Let's call it TV-14 to be safe.
Characters; Lydia Martin
lefthandedgenius and Roman Godfrey
saturniapavonia
Summary; To the victor goes the spoils; Roman and Lydia's date.
Log;
Lydia actually has no idea where Roman is taking her, but she decides to risk dressing for the occasion anyway. A guy who drives the car he claims he does is a guy who deserves a little red dress. Add to that the fact that he'd come running to help her, and didn't make her feel like she was a mutant or yelled at her when she came out of the banshee closet. The truth was, even with his own brand of weirdness that he'd shared with her, he's just the sort of guy she'd have dated back in Beacon Hills, her current arrangement with Aiden aside. But Aiden isn't here, and Roman is, and at the end of the day Roman ain't hard on the eyes, either.
She doesn't like to give the impression that she's waiting for someone to show up when going out on a date, but at the same time she doesn't want Melissa to worry, nor does she want Scott to feel like he has to play the protective bigbrother alpha. So she does her best to time things so she doesn't have to answer a lot of questions and she and Roman can transition quickly from the apartment to getting out the door.

And he gets to have time with Lydia. She's beautiful. Well, it's a given. What else? They'll have to figure it out. He texts from the network device as he approaches. For the millionth time, he wishes for his car.
So far no one is out granting random wishes.

"You're missing the steed," she teases him as she goes up on tiptoe to kiss his cheek in greeting, "But you're still my hero." Her hand fits onto his bicep in preparation to walk, and she peeks at him sidelong through a curtain of strawberry blonde hair. "What have you got planned? Or am I going to be surprised?"
She's aware that resources might be a little thin. She's not expecting miracles, but she does expect some effort.
no subject
"I could give you a ride myself but that dress." He shakes his head and clicks his tongue like it's a shame what she's wearing. Quite the opposite. "I figure we grab something to eat, dance it off then we go from there."
He's walking and it isn't with a lazy stroll. There's purpose but not enough to unnecessarily wound any heeled feet.
no subject
"Very classy." she says of his itinerary, and she means it, too. "Have you been to the Underground yet? It's suppose to be a little dangerous, but there are some interesting clubs down there." It's not quite slapping a gauntlet down, but if Roman wants to live a little dangerously with her, well...
no subject
"A little." With a very, very strange birthday girl for an even more curious meal. "Food up top and then a little night life at the bottom." They're heading for a Chinese establishment, Gold Dragon. "Have you been down there?"
no subject
Once they're in the restaurant, she seems to appreciate any gentlemanly behaviors Roman might display but doesn't seem disgruntled if he doesn't. She draws the line at ordering of course, and like any properly metropolitan girl, forgoes Western flatware for a pair of chopsticks.
"So it seems to me," she remarks casually over dumplings, "That what happened to me isn't something you're unfamiliar with. I mean...with Peter and all. Weird things. And that thing you said you could do."
no subject
His chopsticks stop at a dumpling of his own. "Well, weird things went down at home." Home town he means however his own home has it's secrets. There's a pause as he reaches for a glass of water. "So you're saying you want to see? I don't know why it happens. It just does."
Peter. His affliction or rather state of being speaks for itself now doesn't it? He is a werewolf. Might have been something to keep a lid on because of what had happened at Hemlock Grove and Penrose. The first body they find might be unfairly pinned on the gypsy. At least he's got his good pal to stick by his side. ...Right?

[It's fair to say Lydia's pretty fascinated, and yes, she is acting as if he's telling the truth without actually having seen Roman show off his abilities. But she has the grace to look faintly apologetic.]
I'm sorry if I'm too nosy? I've never met anyone before who had something that's kind of...psychic but not psychic, kind of like me. I mean, obviously it's not the same, but it's also not like, well. Peter. [And Scott. And Isaac. And Derek. And the twins. Et cetera.]
no subject
It doesn't hurt them. [That he knows of.] Maybe there is a name for it but I don't know what it's called. Peter has it easy in that way.
[The rest of his being seems complicated. Too complicated.]
I don't think you're nosy. I told you.
[So it's his own fault there. Roman looks up into Lydia's face again.]
Only fair because you, well, that seems to be way out there for other people to handle. At least I would have thought.
[First hand he saw the Network support her so quickly.]
no subject
[She nibble on a dumpling while smiling at him sidelong.] So you look into their eyes and just focus, hmm? [Dumpling is swallowed, and she shifts in her chair, leaning forward so she's looking him right in the eyes. It's not an invitation to dominate her, but rather a show of trust.] I guess I'll just have to trust you. [There's a faint lift of her brows, her grin unwavering.]
no subject
[Roman shakes his head.]
Well, I have to tell them what it is I want them to do after that.
[Feeling cocky, he lifts a hand to catch the attention of the waiter.]
What's your favorite song?
no subject
And I do, but...well, it kind of hurt to think they didn't trust me.
no subject
[Because being an intuitive employee, the waiter is getting the check prepared.]
Did you talk to em about it first? Not as a permission thing, just to square away how you're feeling.
[Another sip of his water.]
no subject
I talked to at least one of them about how I was feeling, and he's one of the ones who got super pissed off. [Actually, Stiles had made her cry. Of all people.] I think it's more or less worked out now, but it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. Once they see that life's going to move on and nobody cares, maybe they'll relax a little.
[There's a tilt of her head.] What about what you can do? Does anyone know about it?
no subject
Well no fucking wonder you feel like that.
[Roman would be more prone to piss off in a fit and not be so easy to dismiss it but it would seem on some (perhaps several) layers Lydia has herself together.]
Hold on.
[Because their waiter has arrived. Roman looks at him as he takes the check in the leather pad. Eye contact achieved.]
Sing Madonna's Open Your Heart to me. First verse. Then tell us we have a complimentary dessert.
[Sure enough, their waiter--a guy not much older than them with a passable singing voice serenades. It is amusing to be sure but he has a hazy expression on his face. Once it is over he blinks and clears his throat. Before excusing himself he offers a complimentary dessert. The whole time Roman has a cautious smile looking from the man to Lydia.
Even when he knows it's coming, he's still too low to catch his nose from bleeding toward his lip. There was a napkin ready all the same. Not much blood. He would hope it goes unnoticed. That drawback.]
no subject
She's also got sharp eyes though, and she reaches for the napkin first, plucking it up and very gently applying to his upper lip with careful fingers.]
It comes with a price, apparently.
no subject
I'm okay. It doesn't hurt. And really, it's never that much.
[Too much concentration? The unnatural action of going out of his own head into someone else's? Roman Welcomes her attention. He tries to spin it like that to make it easier on his own ego. The metallic smell mixing with what he can smell of Lydia is a pleasing combination.]
no subject
[The napkin is set down and Lydia resumes eating, but something in the air has changed slightly. It's a little more electric, or so it seems to her.]
That's a lot better than having a knack for finding corpses, at least. [And screaming at hypersonic levels of volume.]
no subject
[Just a little blood. And that's it. He isn't so easy to grin but Roman feels like he's accomplished something. Connecting, he hopes. Also might be the high of doing his little trick but his brain is awash in good feelings. It is coppery and sweet tasting. Sure not Chinese dumplings.
He too returns to his meal.]
Sounds like you'd be a great crime unit asset. That has science.
no subject
I'd rather be an astrophysicist.
no subject
[He places money with the check.]
Too bad it won't work on stars. Heavenly body kind.
[A real pity but more of a challenge. Her answer amuses him. Oh. Here comes their free dessert.]
Save any room?
no subject
I'll manage if we share.
You like smart women, then? Funny, I used to go out with this guy at my high school and I would pretend like I was a complete air head just to keep him happy.
no subject
...I like women. I don't like girls.
[Roman fucks girls. On average, women don't give him his time. Or he seems to find girls that walk like women.]
no subject
Good answer.
[There's the line between a woman who unattractively picks at her food and one who can enjoy herself without gorging. Lydia's got it straddled nicely.]
Were you seeing anyone back where you're from? [She's not fishing for a boyfriend, just curious about what he's got behind him. It's a fair question, and one she's willing to answer in turn.]
no subject
No. There's no one at home for me. I lived with my mother and sister.
[Past tense because now he just lives with is mother.]
My cousin too. They were the only ones for me on average. But I mean [Roman rubs his nose and lightens up his tone considerably by saying] it's different in that way.
[Interesting that Lydia would think to be anything less than what she is. Because she's fucking rad.]
So I take it you're not with the guy who likes dumb girls anymore.
