Log; Welcome Ball [INCOMPLETE until everyone gets sick of it <3 ]

Where; The Haunted Mansion
When; October 2; Midnight
Rating; This is a joint event for all guests. The "erotic activities" that the UPPER FLOOR guests will be participating in will come later.
Just keep that in mind, okay? Other than that, whatever's cool! ♥
Characters; EVERYONE who is attending the Carnival (BOTH FLOORS)
Summary; The opening event of the all-day carnival (Please read post for all details). This is before everyone splits up into their respective floors. Eat, drink, be merry and mingle!!
Note; (borrowing the idea Rika borrowed from Shahni, cause they're geniuses ♥) Please use the Subject Line when you want to speak to someone specifically or address the whole group.
Example: When wishing to address Kyouya, put "ATTN: Kyouya" in the subject heading.

Log;

As far as preparations went, the joint event between the Ouran Host Club Mad Hatter was nothing short of a success. The entire mansion was elaborately decorated, so much so one almost forgot that the place could send shivers down one's spine. As the guests entered, a cascade of rose petals fluttered down on them, reminiscent of the grandiose entrances into Music Room Three back at Ouran Academy. The rich scents of the food the waiters and waitresses served, paired with the strong but sweet liquors and cocktails went to the head while the strains of exotic asian instruments and the tinkling of bells filled the air seemed to aim at the heart.

Something special was bound to happen tonight...

While no one (save Tamaki) could probably see through his nonchalant façade, Kyouya, while very ambitious, wasn't used to being in the spotlight. Whether it was as the youngest of three sons or the "Shadow King" of the Host Club, the majority of his actions were "below the radar" (so to speak).

Speaking to the masses was something Tamaki was more inclined to do, but something Kyouya could easily adjust to. He patiently waited for silence so and addressed them all:

"Fondest greetings to each and every one of you. I am so glad that you could attend this celebration and enjoy this day with Mad Hatter and the Ouran Host Club.

This initial ball is to welcome you to the carnival and all the guests are encouraged to enjoy the refreshments and music. Later on we shall be separated for events on our respective floors, so for the time being please feel free to get to know eachother and mingle.

The Ouran Host Club's members are offering their services as dance partners, so if you are interested in a dance, please notify the host of your choice to be put on their dance card. As always a small fee is required to do so, however the money is going to the support of the Ouran Host Club and future events by our organization.

With that said, please enjoy the ball."

The moment he had stepped through the door, Fai slipped into the comfortable slink of a noble--all legs and haughty airs as he glided across the floor. He was used to it, really. As the highest ranking court magician in Ceres, it was expected he maintain his dignity and act appropriately. He wouldn't dare insult the king.

Memories fluttered across his mind and he shut them off, a smile lingering on his lips despite the mask. It was a welcomed device--hiding everything, even his eyes. After a moment, he let the smile slip, staying neutral, watching everyone.

[ooc: come play with Fai! He's looking for some mischief >D]

Wave had been watching the guests mingling without really taking part in it--she'd seen far too many of these balls for her liking (so why had she even come?). She'd mainly stayed out of the chatter, preferring instead to wander idly throughout the crowds.

And then she'd seen him, striding through the people as if he owned it.

A noble, of course--Wave would recognise one anywhere.

Perhaps this would be her fun for the night.

She moved around with purpose, simultaneously masking it with a stop here, a nod there, a pause to listen to the words another spoke... and then she reached him, a smirk playing over her lips behind the mask. "You seem rather comfortable in this setting," she noted silkily, momentarily surprised at the darker voice coming from her mask (what, was it enchanted? She could think of no other reason...). It wasn't hers... and it was more than a little disconcerting to hear.

Turning slowly, Fai bowed elegantly for the young lady, curious as to what brought her and looking forward to meeting a stranger. If she was a stranger.. But he couldn't recognize anything immediately familiar about her, and so put it out of his mind for the moment.

"I've been known to grace the courts from time to time.." He kept his voice level, a smile on his lips to curve the words, ignoring the memories and feelings that seeped forward. "And you, mademoiselle? A pretty flower like yourself would be welcome at any ball."

[ooc: Weee~! XD]

Wave smirked more as she met his bow with one of her own, casting a look over the mask upon his face. "That might explain it, then... I might say I've seen more of the courts myself than I would ever wish to." She responded to his question secondly, a wry smile crossing her face as she chuckled. "Welcome, perhaps, but for what reason? Another of the dolls playing the fool's masquerade?"

...bitter thoughts needed to be taken out and shot.

"Fortunately this doesn't yet seem to be the same."

"A fool's masquerade indeed.." he chuckled softly, casting a look out amoung the others. He smiled slightly at the sight of children, talking excitedly, oblivious to anyone else. "No, this is not like a normal court ball at all.."

Returning his gaze to her, he smiled. "Would you grace me with a dance perhaps?"

Re: To Fai

[identity profile] untamedwaves.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
...hm. Perhaps she had been wrong in her initial judgment--this man didn't seem to be quite as the nobles from her world.

"In my experience, the only ones truly happy at a court ball are those hosting it and the naïve," Wave noted, then nodded. "But I would be delighted to join you for a dance."

And possibly... she really would.

Offering the young lady his hand, Fai lead her in a dance about the ballroom, graceful in his steps and quite in his movement. He watched her for a moment, curious and all too comfortable with the protection of his mask.

"Are you not truely happy then, mademoiselle?"

Re: To Fai

[identity profile] untamedwaves.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
"In a life at the courts?" Wave responded to his question with one of her own, head tilting slightly, eyebrow raising behind her mask. "No... I would not have been, at least. Here, things seem to be different--do they not? A fresh start; somewhere where no-one knows you you were or what you were destined to be..."

Perhaps the only upside to this.

"You dance very well," Wave noted, observing how easily he moved (she hadn't had a partner that danced this well in ages) and matching her steps to his fluidly. "Were you a part of these sorts of things often?"

Re: To Fai

[identity profile] wheet-woo.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Fai considered her words carefully, thinking over his own experiances. A fresh start? It should have been, but he was already tangled up in other's lives, already too close.. There would be no fresh start for him unless he could leave the city alone, and at this point, he wasn't sure if he would be able to do it.

"Yes. My services were often required in court. I was often in the public eye." he let slip more information than he normaly would have dared, but it was easy to tell her. Easy to pretend he'd never see her again. All would be forgotten come the next morning. "Yourself? I'm afraid I'm no match for your skills."

Re: To Fai

[identity profile] untamedwaves.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
"My father." The words were spoken before she quite realised what she was saying, and even afterwards, she felt... strangely nonchalant about admitting it. "I grew up in public... how would it have looked if the lord's daughter couldn't waltz with the rest of the world?"

She laughed slightly, then, simultaneously amazed and shaken that he'd managed to get even that much out of her about her family. "But you flatter me, to be sure. Another of those skills required, I suppose?" she teased.

To Wave;

[identity profile] wheet-woo.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah," he murmured, nodding to her words. He had seen children at the courts in Ceres as well; all trained and proper, elequoent and charming. A hard life, he was sure.

"That, I must addmit, comes quite naturaly." He smiled, coating his words with good humor even though she could not see the vague curve of his lips. "But it is no flattery, I promise."

to Fai

[identity profile] untamedwaves.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Wave smiled slightly behind her mask, amused now. "If all my dance partners were as smooth as you, my ego wouldn't fit inside this grand room. You may need to think twice before offering such a lovely compliment."

It was, in effect, an expression of gratitude.

"Is there a reason you chose to attend this celebration?" Wave questioned as they turned, keeping up the small talk.

It was better than a dance of silence.

Re: to Fai

[identity profile] wheet-woo.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
He chuckled softly, finding her quite a charming young lady. Many would blush at a compliment or shy away from it, but her wit was quite enjoyable.

"I enjoy masquerade balls quite a bit. The mystery, anonymity.." He shrugged slightly, alluding to all the night had to offer. "And the colors are fabulous. And you?"

Re: to Fai

[identity profile] untamedwaves.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Much the same," Wave admitted. "It's a rare time when we may do and say what we please, without having to worry too much about what is said or done."

She cast a glance around, smiling to herself at the sight of all the masked figures. "There isn't as much pressure, is there? Knowing no-one can really tell who's who; knowing they aren't quite judging you..."

That was what she enjoyed.

"It does remind me of home."

to Wave;

[identity profile] wheet-woo.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
"You find yourself often judged?" he blinked, wondering about her story and if he'd ever come to know it. But it didn't really matter and he wasn't sure, if after this party was over, he would exactly enjoy another meeting, now that he had said so much.

Shaking the thought, and the pang of guilt that followed, from his thoughts, he nodded. "It's nice to be reminded what we have waiting for us when we leave.."

to Fai

[identity profile] untamedwaves.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, and there was that question. Wave smirked bitterly behind the mask, shrugging slightly. "Aren't we all?" she asked, brushing aside the queston before addressing it. "I can't rule. For a couple reasons, but mainly because I don't have magic. Add that to a handful of mages looking for a step up in the world..."

She shrugged again. "It's not the best position to be put in, mm?"

But that didn't matter right now. After all, she wasn't going to deal with it right now... but then the man's final words hit her and she couldn't help but laugh. "When we leave?" she repeated, genuinely amused. "Right now... right now I don't know that I want to. There seems to be a lot more going for this place than where I came from..."

So far, at least--the good and the bad.

To Wave;

[identity profile] wheet-woo.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Nodding, Fai smiled, his eyes softening with sympathy behind the mask. In Ceres as well there was a certain bias against those who couldn't use magic within the mage court. A foolish discrimination, but it was there.

"Ah.. I suppose it would be a nice place to run away to.. But I cannot stay. I've stayed long too long already.."

to Fai

[identity profile] untamedwaves.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
"You've been here a while, then?" It was posed as a question, but there was no interrogating tone to her voice.

To Wave;

[identity profile] wheet-woo.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Not as long as some.. but far too long. It's dangerous for me to stay in one place for too long. Especially this sort of place.." He smiled softly, mind wandering to his travels and where they had taken him.

to Fai

[identity profile] untamedwaves.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah... I see."

She knew how that was.

"It's almost a shame," she noted with a smile. "If you leave, where else should I look for an intelligent conversation?"

At least, one without the heavy flirting or smart comments...

Re: to Fai

[identity profile] wheet-woo.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Fai laughed, twirling her gently, eyes bright. "I would have to appologize for that, my lady, if I should leave too soon."

He couldn't leave yet anyways. Not until there was a way to take four others with him.

Re: to Fai

[identity profile] untamedwaves.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm surprised," Wave admitted to him, smiling behind her mask. "Most wouldn't give it a second thought."

to Wave;

[identity profile] wheet-woo.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh?" he murmured, casting her a glance before looking out at the colors once more. "Then most are not giving you the credit you deserve."

to Fai

[identity profile] untamedwaves.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Most don't know me well enough for it to matter, anyway," Wave dismissed lowly, shaking her head.

This topic was starting to turn to where she didn't~ want to go. "Did you come to the ball with anybody?"

Perhaps a petty topic to pursue, but Wave hadn't missed the way he'd been looking around (and if it was only to take in the sights... then so be it).

To Wave

[identity profile] wheet-woo.livejournal.com 2006-10-04 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
"No," Fai murmured, eyes returning to her. "Not really. A few friends are here, but.."

There was someone he would have been glad to see, however. An unhappy shape in reds and blacks, no doubt, sulking in a corner instead of enjoying the evening. Red eyes behind a mask, frowning at him. It would have been nice to see him here.

"Yourself?"
