Log; Welcome Ball [INCOMPLETE until everyone gets sick of it <3 ]

Where; The Haunted Mansion
When; October 2; Midnight
Rating; This is a joint event for all guests. The "erotic activities" that the UPPER FLOOR guests will be participating in will come later.
Just keep that in mind, okay? Other than that, whatever's cool! ♥
Characters; EVERYONE who is attending the Carnival (BOTH FLOORS)
Summary; The opening event of the all-day carnival (Please read post for all details). This is before everyone splits up into their respective floors. Eat, drink, be merry and mingle!!
Note; (borrowing the idea Rika borrowed from Shahni, cause they're geniuses ♥) Please use the Subject Line when you want to speak to someone specifically or address the whole group.
Example: When wishing to address Kyouya, put "ATTN: Kyouya" in the subject heading.

Log;

As far as preparations went, the joint event between the Ouran Host Club Mad Hatter was nothing short of a success. The entire mansion was elaborately decorated, so much so one almost forgot that the place could send shivers down one's spine. As the guests entered, a cascade of rose petals fluttered down on them, reminiscent of the grandiose entrances into Music Room Three back at Ouran Academy. The rich scents of the food the waiters and waitresses served, paired with the strong but sweet liquors and cocktails went to the head while the strains of exotic asian instruments and the tinkling of bells filled the air seemed to aim at the heart.

Something special was bound to happen tonight...

While no one (save Tamaki) could probably see through his nonchalant façade, Kyouya, while very ambitious, wasn't used to being in the spotlight. Whether it was as the youngest of three sons or the "Shadow King" of the Host Club, the majority of his actions were "below the radar" (so to speak).

Speaking to the masses was something Tamaki was more inclined to do, but something Kyouya could easily adjust to. He patiently waited for silence so and addressed them all:

"Fondest greetings to each and every one of you. I am so glad that you could attend this celebration and enjoy this day with Mad Hatter and the Ouran Host Club.

This initial ball is to welcome you to the carnival and all the guests are encouraged to enjoy the refreshments and music. Later on we shall be separated for events on our respective floors, so for the time being please feel free to get to know eachother and mingle.

The Ouran Host Club's members are offering their services as dance partners, so if you are interested in a dance, please notify the host of your choice to be put on their dance card. As always a small fee is required to do so, however the money is going to the support of the Ouran Host Club and future events by our organization.

With that said, please enjoy the ball."

Tatsumi surveyed his surroundings quietly, feeling a tad silly and nervous at the same time behind his mask. He wondered if he should have simply chosen to wear his normal suit - something he could be comfortable in instead of the frilly ensemble he was in now. He entertained the thought for a while and then resigned himself; it was obviously a masquerade party. Even if he doubted anyone would be able to recognize him and, what more, he didn't know too many people from this city, not adhering to the party's dress code didn't bode well with Tatsumi. He was a man of rules and would remain so even if he was here to see how deep the darkness in him run.

...Later on we shall be seperated for events on our respective floors...

Tatsumi felt his heart skip a bit there and he sighed, remembering the events earlier that day (http://community.livejournal.com/tampered/107110.html#cutid1). His thoughts returned to Tsuzuki whom he believed was still back at their apartment, with Hisoka... oblivious.

Tatsumi wanted to keep Tsuzuki that way.

Deep down, he wondered just what kind of surprises this celebration had for him and realized with surprise that he was, somewhat, looking forward to it.

He kept to a corner with a glass of wine and to as if to echo the dark thoughts and fears he entertained in his mind as he stood, the shadows seemed to darken menacingly around him.

"Okay, okay, breath Greed. Remember, act like someone you're not. How do those gentlemanly fu-fu types talk, again?" Greed thought as he entered the area.

"My, lovely party, I must say," he said, striding over to a snack table and surrepticiously devouring a few dozen treats.

Hey, this ain't bad! he thought, chewing thoughtfully.

He poured himself a glass of wine and went out among the others. He collected himself and leaned casually against a corner, taking in the ambience of the room.

[OOC: Anybody who wants to can come up to him. He's trying to be on his best behavior, honest!]

Deidara wandered through the crowd, eyes meeting upon all the different souls underneath the myriad of masks. It was a beautiful sight to behold, very artistic, in a strange way. Not normally his type of art. But, aesthetic none the less.

It will be difficult to tell anyone from anyone, un...

Continuing his amble through the crowd, his gaze snagged on something. A movement against the wall, a soul in the half-darkness. By his stance, he did not look pleased.

Though I could be wrong..he may just stand menacingly. He may not actually be menacing. Still, in either case, it will be amusing to find out.

Turning his path, Deidara walked to the man within the shade, cocking his head to one side.

"Why do you stand alone in the shadows, un? Is this not your type of affair?"

The moment he had stepped through the door, Fai slipped into the comfortable slink of a noble--all legs and haughty airs as he glided across the floor. He was used to it, really. As the highest ranking court magician in Ceres, it was expected he maintain his dignity and act appropriately. He wouldn't dare insult the king.

Memories fluttered across his mind and he shut them off, a smile lingering on his lips despite the mask. It was a welcomed device--hiding everything, even his eyes. After a moment, he let the smile slip, staying neutral, watching everyone.

[ooc: come play with Fai! He's looking for some mischief >D]

Tatsumi was honestly surprised (and it showed through slight body movements). He hadn't expected anyone to talk to him at all, not when he was like this. He was no fool and knew what kind of fear he sent through his co-workers' hearts when in a dark mood. He had a reputation in JuOhCho. When he was like this, nobody dared to approach the 'Secretary from Beyond Hell'.

As he regarded the other with a slight bowing of his head, his face, though covered by a mask, becoming that of calm courtesy. He remembered the costume and mask he wore then and realized that with those on, he was just another eccentric mask in a masquerade party. Another person. A clean slate. This person wouldn't know him and even then, he doubted his masked 'friend' would know of his reputation.

"Quite right," he answered steadily and had to arch an eyebrow at how garbled and different his voice came out. "This isn't my type of affair. But I intend to see it through."

She had almost forgotten what day it was. Almost. The noise outside the operahouse had alerted young Ernula what was happening that day, and she had dropped everything (quite literally, as the cups on the operahouse stage clearly proved) and rushed out to join in the festivities.

Upon stepping into the mansion, the music that flooded the mansion reached her ears and filled her heart with joyous laughter. Excitedly, she was sent spinning across the floor, whirling to a halt infront of the vaguely familar man who was addressing them. Trying to figure out who hid behind the mask occupied her thoughts for a moment, but she soon grew bored of that and found herself drifting among the crowds, her stuffed rabbit companions swinging at her side.

"Hee~♥ Tonight's the night for pretends and fantasies, ne?~" Kantarou exclaimed cheerfully as he came up beside the man -- at least he thought it was a man... with all the weird clothing and feathery masks and the like, Kantarou wasn't sure which was of what gender. He certainly wasn't going to trouble himself over it though~! ♥

"The food's good too~ ♥"

"I would most certainly say so, young sir!" he said, inhaling a few more snacks. If one were careful, he might see rows of shark-like teeth.

"I happen to be an avid lover of fantasy, myself! You?" he asked.

Kantarou chuckled mischievously and began toying with the paper fan he'd brought with him. Even with the disguised voice, he could tell this one was far from the character he projected. Maybe he could let himself play tonight too? Be more adult-like instead of the playful young child he usually acted like?

"Well~ You can say--" his voice dipped "--I live in fantasies already~ It's fun~"

"Well, you can make it enjoyable for yourself. Find something that amuses you, un." Deidara grinned underneath the mask, though, it would not be visible to the man he was addressing. "I always try to make things artistic. Though, I do not know if that would be acceptable here, un."

It was at this point that Deidara realized the difference of his voice with a slight giggle. The workings of this celebration were indeed as amusing as he'd believed they would be, and he would have great entertainment from this. And it would probably only get better.

"Is there anything that amuses you? Maybe you have a sort of art as well."

((OOC: XD It's okay!^__^))

"Oh ho! It would appear that the young sir is not as young in spirit as his body shows!" Greed chuckled deeply.

"Quite an interesting trick, indeed. How do you do it?"

Rangiku slipped into the room, silver-blue eyes taking in the decor before entering and stepping off to one side. There were already a few others milling about, but she was content to stay where she was, off to one side, and watch everyone.

It's a cats curiosity that drove her, wondering who everyone was. She could find out easily with her power, but that was cheating, after all, so she focused on small movements, more nervous habits than anything else...

[identity profile] so-very-greedy.livejournal.com 2006-10-03 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Enjoying the party, ma' petite mademoiselle?" a voice rang out behind her. Someone tall in a thick coat and ornate headress was addressing her from the snack area.

"Hmm. I imagine the night will only bring more surprises," Tatsumi said quietly and looked down at the glass in his hand. "I've been to some... gatherings like this before. Nothing elaborate. All for business... Those end much sooner than this will last. It will be challenging..." He trailed away, remembering suddenly he was no longer alone.

"You can say I have something that amuses me too. Somewhat. But like you, I doubt it would be acceptable here." He tilted his head and noticed the way the shadows were active around him. And I'm already pushing it by being unable to rein in my emotions well. He made a quick mental command and willed the shadows to quiet down and they did. The corner seemed less oppressive suddenly though it did little to better his mood.

"Sir, where are you headed after this ball?" he asked conversationally, not quite sure what else to say.

Ino walked into the mansion, looking about herself with a curious wonder. It was more magnificent than she had imagined. All about her, breathtaking costumes, made of the finest materials, shimmered under the flittering light. Masks, every color that could be imagined and then some, glimmered in an off-beat rhythm to the steps of those who wore them. Taking a breath, she deigned to speak lightly, if only to herself.

"Spectacular.."

Ino blinked, bringing a gloved hand to the mouth of her mask. Her voice was much different--a richer, more elegant tone, befitting, Ino thought, of a queen or a daimyo's wife, not a flower-shop chuunin like herself. Giggling, she began to walk, almost as if floating, trapsing through the ballroom with a light heart. The weight upon her mind began to melt away within the glittering air. No longer did she remember the pains of the day following this occurance, the trial she would have to stand for, or the possible execution of her heart and soul. All that was in her mind was the here and now. A quixotic feeling oozed into her heart, and she allowed it to pass through to every point in her body, sending her into a slight euphoria. It was about the here and now, not about the coming soon.

It was all about the night.

((She is open for anything, so go for it. ♥♥♥))

Kantarou lifted a hand and began wagging it playfully at the man. "It's all MA~GIC~♥" he said playfully in a sing-song voice. He waited a few moments before breaking into a hearty chuckle. He slid his fan open and close in one quick flick of his wrist. "I'm a lot older than I look. I understand I'm not very tall but... such is life~! ♥"

He sniffed and added in a serious tone, "Interested, huh?"

[identity profile] 10thdiv-haineko.livejournal.com 2006-10-03 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
She turned when she heard someone speaking to her, eyes automatically finding the owner of the voice. Her lips curled into a hidden smile behind her mask as she padded closer.

"I am, indeed. And you, sir?"

She still wasn't used to the change of voice the mask afforded her, but she didn't show her mild shock outwardly.

Deidara raised a hand to the bottom of his mask in thought. Taking a small step away, and then turning around, he finally answered, his answer as unsure as his thoughts.

"I don't truly know, un. Probably back to the apartment building. A night like this breeds inspiration."

Letting his head flit to the side once more, he once more regarded the other man, curiousity beginning to tug at him once more.

"What about yourself, un? Where will you go?"

Perhaps the excitement had wound Tsuzuki tight enough to cause his earlier-than-planned arrival. But he was there, chilled with the idea of so many unknown faces, masked and waiting to be revealed. His own mask, silver and scratching slightly at his cheeks, enhanced the color of his violet eyes, the robes draping over him silky, flowing freely. It was regal, his hair hidden by the curve of the hood, creating mystery. Enchanted, delighted.

He loved this intriguing atmosphere.

Making his way through the bodies, feet already dancing lightly, practice and practice still, Tsuzuki stopped, practically standing in the center of the room. It was fascinating, beautiful. He laughed, surprised at the sound of his voice altered through the mask and instantly did it again.

“Hello!” he called out, wondering what to do with himself but waving to others around him nonetheless.

[ooc: Feel free to knock him as you please. He wouldn't mind. Probably treat you to a dance~ ♥]

"Ah, but any day that a humble man such as myself can meet such a radiant flower is a good day, of course!"

He bowed deeply to her.

"So wonderful to see others joining the party."

"Yes, I cannot affect such change in myself. Surely, you cannot be a human! I find all non-humans very interesting beings, possessed of an unnatural grace and power."

He offered him a small bit of food.

"Eclair?"

Tatsumi's hand instinctively moved to the pockets in his pants and they met with the smooth, peerless, fabric of his costume. He settled for crossing his arms across his chest then, wine glass still in one hand. He realized, he also missed his glasses.

"I'll be staying here, most probably," he told the other calmly. As he said it, Tatsumi didn't know himself if he was willing to stay longer. "This party is supposed to last for a whole day... I intend to.. try to see through it completely." To see how far my darkness will go.... to learn how I can better control myself...

[identity profile] so-very-greedy.livejournal.com 2006-10-03 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
A tall someone was already waving back.

"Greetings, good sir!"

[identity profile] wheet-woo.livejournal.com 2006-10-03 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Fai caught sight of a swirl of color in the middle of the ballroom and chuckled despite himself. Admist the somber, moody masks that drifted to the corners and the shadows, this fellow stood out like a child.

Even if he hadn't seen the dazziling aray of colors before the ball, Tsuzuki's open attitude left little doubt as to who smiled from under that mask. Letting himself drift over, he paused to lift a wine glass from a tray, though waiting to raise it to his lips.

"Hello indeed," The deep quality of his fake voice was amusing, so much different than his own.

[ooc: i just had to say hello >3 ♥]

"Pretty~" was the word that rolled off the lips of the girl who was now circling around Ino, examining her dress curiously. Though it was not her voice that spoke the words, but one of a far more mature young lady, one whos voice had traded its sing-song allure for energetic but controlled emotion, bottled intensity. It surpised her momentarily, but she was far too interested in the dress to pay it much mind.

"It's pretty." she announced finally, stopping right in front of its wearer.
