Where; The Haunted Mansion

Just keep that in mind, okay? Other than that, whatever's cool! ♥

Summary; The opening event of the all-day carnival (Please read post for all details). This is before everyone splits up into their respective floors. Eat, drink, be merry and mingle!!
Note; (borrowing the idea Rika borrowed from Shahni, cause they're geniuses ♥) Please use the Subject Line when you want to speak to someone specifically or address the whole group.
Example: When wishing to address Kyouya, put "ATTN: Kyouya" in the subject heading.

Log;

As far as preparations went, the joint event between the Ouran Host Club Mad Hatter was nothing short of a success. The entire mansion was elaborately decorated, so much so one almost forgot that the place could send shivers down one's spine. As the guests entered, a cascade of rose petals fluttered down on them, reminiscent of the grandiose entrances into Music Room Three back at Ouran Academy. The rich scents of the food the waiters and waitresses served, paired with the strong but sweet liquors and cocktails went to the head while the strains of exotic asian instruments and the tinkling of bells filled the air seemed to aim at the heart.

Something special was bound to happen tonight...

While no one (save Tamaki) could probably see through his nonchalant façade, Kyouya, while very ambitious, wasn't used to being in the spotlight. Whether it was as the youngest of three sons or the "Shadow King" of the Host Club, the majority of his actions were "below the radar" (so to speak).

Speaking to the masses was something Tamaki was more inclined to do, but something Kyouya could easily adjust to. He patiently waited for silence so and addressed them all:

"Fondest greetings to each and every one of you. I am so glad that you could attend this celebration and enjoy this day with Mad Hatter and the Ouran Host Club.

This initial ball is to welcome you to the carnival and all the guests are encouraged to enjoy the refreshments and music. Later on we shall be separated for events on our respective floors, so for the time being please feel free to get to know eachother and mingle.

The Ouran Host Club's members are offering their services as dance partners, so if you are interested in a dance, please notify the host of your choice to be put on their dance card. As always a small fee is required to do so, however the money is going to the support of the Ouran Host Club and future events by our organization.

With that said, please enjoy the ball."

"Well, you can make it enjoyable for yourself. Find something that amuses you, un." Deidara grinned underneath the mask, though, it would not be visible to the man he was addressing. "I always try to make things artistic. Though, I do not know if that would be acceptable here, un."

It was at this point that Deidara realized the difference of his voice with a slight giggle. The workings of this celebration were indeed as amusing as he'd believed they would be, and he would have great entertainment from this. And it would probably only get better.

"Is there anything that amuses you? Maybe you have a sort of art as well."

((OOC: XD It's okay!^__^))

"Hmm. I imagine the night will only bring more surprises," Tatsumi said quietly and looked down at the glass in his hand. "I've been to some... gatherings like this before. Nothing elaborate. All for business... Those end much sooner than this will last. It will be challenging..." He trailed away, remembering suddenly he was no longer alone.

"You can say I have something that amuses me too. Somewhat. But like you, I doubt it would be acceptable here." He tilted his head and noticed the way the shadows were active around him. And I'm already pushing it by being unable to rein in my emotions well. He made a quick mental command and willed the shadows to quiet down and they did. The corner seemed less oppressive suddenly though it did little to better his mood.

"Sir, where are you headed after this ball?" he asked conversationally, not quite sure what else to say.

Deidara raised a hand to the bottom of his mask in thought. Taking a small step away, and then turning around, he finally answered, his answer as unsure as his thoughts.

"I don't truly know, un. Probably back to the apartment building. A night like this breeds inspiration."

Letting his head flit to the side once more, he once more regarded the other man, curiousity beginning to tug at him once more.

"What about yourself, un? Where will you go?"

Tatsumi's hand instinctively moved to the pockets in his pants and they met with the smooth, peerless, fabric of his costume. He settled for crossing his arms across his chest then, wine glass still in one hand. He realized, he also missed his glasses.

"I'll be staying here, most probably," he told the other calmly. As he said it, Tatsumi didn't know himself if he was willing to stay longer. "This party is supposed to last for a whole day... I intend to.. try to see through it completely." To see how far my darkness will go.... to learn how I can better control myself...

Deidara nodded once.

"Ah! You meant for the rest of the carnival, un! I will stay here as well. Though," a thoughful cast again wormed its way into his voice. "I've heard there will be interesting delights on the floor I will be frequenting."

He laughed inwardly at this, thinking about what would be occuring. It was enough to pique interest, and whet the palate.

"Where will you be after the ball is over? Up or Down?" He abruptly asked, still keeping his gaze on the other's mask.

"I've heard about those too." Tatsumi tried to keep the sarcasm out of his voice. "Adult Entertainment, they say. Someone from the Host Club tried to discourage me from visiting the first floor... but, I'm not one to back down from my decisions." He brought his glass to his lips and took a short sip. "I will be upstairs after this ball," he said dryly. Anxiety filled him suddenly. Maybe he should leave early and forget he'd thought up this silly idea?

"Backing down from a place where you've already solidified yourself is usually not a good idea, un." Deidara's eyes began to watch the wine glass, momentarily interested. "Stand by your decisions, good or bad, and never regret. It will make you harder to shake, and make life more bearable, un."

Deidara began to think back momentarily to the day when he left Iwagakure, and when he had joined Akatsuki. Both of those were instances where he kept strong in his decisions, good or bad. He never regretted those. Now, there were things in life that he did regret, but he was assured of one thing. He did not regret staying steadfast by what he had decided. He looked at the other man, wondering about the expression that was held in thrall behind the mask.

"I will be upstairs, if you wish to speak then too, un. I would not mind."

"Making the best out of everything... that's always a good tactic in life." Tatsumi smiled a bit under his mask, encouraged by the stranger's words. "How can I forget that..." He'd lived his life 'making the best out of everything'. No doubt he'd complained about his life more than once, but one had no choice but to continue living, making the best out of everything, even in the afterlife.

"To regret is to accept failure," he said wistfully and sighed. He would not regret tonight. Whatever it may bring. Even if it meant accepting himself to truly be a monster deep down. No, he would accept it... and see...

"I would not mind either. I rather liked your companionship. Thank you, sir."

"I liked your companionship, too, un." Deidara smiled underneath the mask, tone strangely genuine. Deidara had learned much in the City so far, and he had befriended those, and done many things that he never thought he would, and if he returned to his world, he would probably deny. Or maybe he wouldn't. Who knew?

"Maybe after this entire carnival is over, we can meet again, without masks, un. I believe that would be nice as well."

to Deidara

[identity profile] thrifty-shadow.livejournal.com 2006-10-03 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
"That would be indeed nice, though I imagine figuring out who we are after this will be quite a challenge." Tatsumi found himself chuckling amusedly, surprising even himself. "But that's the purpose of this celebration, is it not? To confuse. And to allow the impossibility hampered by much... hindrances... to happen. Perhaps, if it weren't for this ball, we wouldn't have ever spoken."

That, Tatsumi realized, was so true. But he hoped though that he could talk with this man once more. He sighed, and finished, "We will meet again, I'm sure."

Deidara nodded again, placing a hand out toward the man, hoping he would shake it.

"We will meet again, un. If you are ever looking for me, come to Building 4, Apartment 4. That is where I live." He grinned underneath the mask, knowing the other man could not see it, but hoped he could hear it in his voice. "I'd love to show you my art, un."

to Deidara

[identity profile] thrifty-shadow.livejournal.com 2006-10-03 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Used to such courtesy, Tatsumi easily understood and shook the other man's hand.

"I'd be honored to see your art." Deep down, he wondered if there was a dual meaning to that and blamed the anxiety inside him. "I'll keep your address in mind."

"Thank you, un." With this, he bowed to the other man, in a courteous manner. "I am going to find whatelse may be happening. It was very enjoyable to meet you."

Another unseen smile graced his lips, as he began to walk away.
"See you upstairs later, un. Take care."
