Rating; PG-13 - ?!
Characters; Nico Robin and Jyabura
Summary; The first meeting at their hidden lairâ„¢ after Jyabura ate broke Kaku's face in their tiiiny conflict about Robin
Log;
Jyabura'd gotten to their shared apartment very soon after Isane left. Right now he didn't want to be so close at the place the whole fight took place, the reek from blood the apartment next door drove him nearly insane. He'd take care of that mess sometime, though he couldn't fix the broken window. Right now, staying at another apartment away from that cat and the squarenose seemed like the best idea ever.

He spent nearly a whole day in the flat alone, mostly lying around on the couch lazily, 'busy' recovering from his injuries though Isane had nearly patched him up completely. The main thing was that his broken ribs were healed, the scratches didn't bother him without the splints anymore. Bored he stood up and looked out of the window; he told Isane to say Robin he'd wait here for her. The time alone did him good, he completely ignored all the whinings about some "war" going on, he had enough problems with their own war.

Robin hadn't been in the mood at all to leave the Going Merry, because she had felt a bit nauseous during the day; but since Isane had said that Jyabura wanted to meet her... She didn't mind. She also wanted to ask him about his fight with Kaku, so it was a good opportunity to do so; after all, the reason for the fight had to do with herself... So she was rather curious.

She found herself in front of their shared apartment's door quicker than she had expected; she had to repress the urge to knock. She knew that he was already inside, so instead, she simply opened the door and went inside. "Hello..." she said softly, closing the door behind her back. "You wanted to talk to me?"

"What is that?" Robin asked, ignoring his words and reaching up with her hand to carefully touch his new scar. Dear God, what had happened that had given him such a scar? She was fairly sure that this one wasn't the only one, but right now, she didn't bother. She wanted to know the facts first.

"Did Kaku do this?"

"You had glass in your eye?" she said, trying to sound merely curious but horribly failing. As far as she knew, he could've ended up blind.

"You shouldn't say that about a friend of yours," she said severely; her friends meant everything to her and she couldn't imagine speaking ill about them, even if her ribs had been broken. "What exactly happened?"

"I should've known, after all, you're assassins..." she said with a slight bitter tone, recalling the previous encounter she had with Kaku and the rest of CP9. Not very memorable indeed.

"And why, if I may ask?" She knew that it had something to do with her, but she wanted to know the details anyway. Maybe Kaku had said something about her that had greatly angered Jyabura? She couldn't really imagine what that could've been.

"Will you make it up with him, despite "just" being colleagues?" she asked, actually very curious about this. She didn't really know how CP9 agents acted while they were with each other, but fighting over a trivial thing such as herself seemed rather ridiculous, even if these people... didn't really have a heart. Well, at least she knew that Jyabura was the exception.

"But how do you know that for certain if you weren't there?" Robin asked, determined of not giving up. Even if Kaku was a deceiving bastard, it didn't mean that he'd talked to Lucci about killing her.

She sighed and closed her eyes for a moment. Why did everyone she was fond of have to be so stubborn? Everyone was trying to protect her as if she was unable to do that herself. "I also told this to Cook-san and I will also say it to you; don't get yourself in danger because of me. It's a waste of time."

"You have a point," she said, as he was probably right. She wasn't in the position to judge people she had barely talked to. "How is Isane-san, anyway? We only spoke about me and my pregnancy, so I couldn't make sure if she's alright or not."

She brushed a few stray hairs out of her face and chuckled slightly. "And you men are very strange, too," she smiled, since both were most likely true.

"I don't want to have anything to do with Kaku at all, if that makes you feel any better," Robin said. Even though she knew that CP9 agents could... change, she didn't want to become acquainted with someone from CP9 apart from Jyabura. They still slightly scared her, even though she didn't want to admit it.

"Fine, I think. I'm feeling a bit sick but Isane-san said that it's normal to feel that way," she said, suddenly glad about the change of subject. She had a lot of problems to deal with herself and even though she was very fond of Isane, she couldn't worry about her too.

[identity profile] blackhibiscus.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"You, on the other hand, will still have do deal with him. How are you going to do that?" she asked. She had been wondering about this for a while now, and she would understand if he'd want to stay away from Kaku as far as possible. However, they were colleagues and that made everything a lot more complicated...

"Yes, it's all your fault," Robin teased, but not smiling like she usually would, just to tease some more. "Maybe I'm just not in the mood to smile, hm?"

"Such lovely people you are," she said slightly sarcastically, but not trying to offend him in any way. She was simply still too bitter about what had happened between her and CP9 and she knew that he couldn't help that, but her hate for anything that had to do with the World Government was too deep.

"Oh, just think of something fun," she said, still with that teasing tone.

[identity profile] blackhibiscus.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm under the impression that you're too much of a nice guy for CP9," she said, even if she did know that he probably only acted this way when he was with her, not with anyone else.

"Do you really? Prove it then," she said, but now with a bright smile, knowing that she had failed in keeping her facade up any longer.

[identity profile] blackhibiscus.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's okay, I was just teasing you. Don't worry," she said, still smiling. God, he really wasn't good at things like this, wasn't he? Even lighthearted questions like those still managed to get him nervous. But then, Robin didn't mind; it was kind of cute.

[identity profile] blackhibiscus.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, I did. Does it bother you?" she asked, amused expression not leaving her face for a second but looking away to stare at the window. Her mind absently wandered to her nakama, to what they'd think if they knew she was here, to Sanji in particular. She hadn't felt so guilty in a long time, she was disappointing the people the loved most, simply by being happy. It was starting to kill her from the inside.

[identity profile] blackhibiscus.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's just that..." she started, pausing a moment to choose her words carefully. "My nakama still act distant towards me. No, that's a lie. Cook-san still acts distant towards me. It's starting to make me feel horribly uncomfortable and I don't know what I could do to make it right again.

[identity profile] blackhibiscus.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"He'll probably assault you or something," she said pessimistically, knowing that Sanji would never do that, but he probably would if she was being abducted again. He had always been hellbent on protecting her and he sure did now, too, but she missed his silly affections and the 'Robin-chan'. "I don't know if you should."

[identity profile] blackhibiscus.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well..." she said, thinking about possible scenarios. The worst one was that they'd scratch each other's eyes out, which was actually pretty realistic. The other one was that they'd come to a possible solution, something that probably wouldn't happen so quickly. "You're right. I'm sure he'd want to compromise too."

She sighed and leaned against him while closing her eyes; she didn't have high hopes for this.

[identity profile] blackhibiscus.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Like this?" she chuckled while wrapping her arms around him and grinning slightly, amused beyond belief. "It'll definitely be okay. Especially like this."

She leaned closer and kissed him gently, just to be an annoying tease, like she used to be. Too many things had made her more and more solemn.
