Log: Ongoing

When; Wednesday, March 28th, Afternoon.
Rating; I'm gonna put R, b/c of some of the battle plans that I'm aware of.
Characters; Too many to list individually, but most all Naruto characters, and a few others.
Summary; The long-simmering tension between Akatsuki and Konoha finally boils over. I think that sums it up.

*Note*

Alright, as this log is going to be so very long, and have so very many people, please put the name of the person your action is directed towards into the subject-line of your post. Keep to standard Poly rules, so no god-modding and be considerate. Also please refrain from Sue-armour. If you don't want your character to die, that's fine, just make sure to keep things realistic. Please don't jump in on the fight unless you've already been counted as part of it. Not to exclude people, I just don't want this to get so big that we can't handle it. Afterall, it's not supposed to be a one-sided slaughter for EITHER side, so let's keep things fair. Anyone who wants to say they watched the fight is free to do so, and you may post your characters' arrival to watch if you like, just don't interfere w/the actual battle. As with all things, please enjoy~

Log; Standing at the edge of the desert, Itachi allowed crimson eyes to scan the sand to one side and the trees to the other. They would be there soon. This had been building for far too long to be denied, and there was blood to be spilt. Whether his own side had started it, or their side, it mattered little to the cloaked man who stood on the sands and waited. The outcome would be the same. A chance to once again verify the breadth of his container, an opportunity to rid himself of annoyances once and for all.
Some might have called it arrogance, but to the Uchiha, it was merely common sense. Indeed, he might die. But that mattered little to him. Afterall, it wasn't as though he didn't consider his own head full of memories he had little use for. And the deities of this place bargained in memories. Returning a life in exchange seemed to be little more then a parlour trick for them. But his enemies? Their minds were full of the soft and cloyingly sweet fruits of friendship and love. Things that made sacrificing parts of yourself a more difficult task. Not to mention that even if he fell here, he would be certain to take others with him. And in doing that, removing yet another handful of players from the overall game.

Deidara froze. For just a second, he lost his composure, as he felt the sand creep up his legs. It was much like when it grasped his arm in the battle they had above the Sunagakure cityscape--only this time, it could be much worse--as before the sand was having a hard time keeping it's reach on him, and now..he stood squarely in its grasp. He twitched his fingers, bringing the spiders crawling quickly back to him. He knew he'd still take some damage...but, at least this way, he wouldn't die.

Lips curving into a smirk, he watched the momentary panic suffuse the Akatsuki's face, relishing the feel of control it gave him. The sand crept higher as he saw the spiders crawling back. But rather then try and stop them, he instead let them come. If the Akatsuki wanted to injure himself, then so be it.

The spiders began to crawl up the sand, and Deidara braced himself. He knew this would hurt--but any blood shed for art was a noble act, and there was no true inspiration without pain. Before his hands could get caught by the sandy maw slithering up his body, he slammed them together in his all too familiar seal.

"KATSU!"

The sand was blown in all directions, as the spiders detonated all at once. The artist himself was blown back as well, burns and bloody marks appearing due to the force of the blast, and the glass-ridden debris, formed from the sand that had been melted in the explosion.

Gaara had been expecting this, and his hands were already moving into familiar seals as the sand surged and rose, forming a moving tempest that bore down on the Akatsuki.
