Summary; Tea Party at Kabuto's
Log;
Kabuto frowned down at himself for the hundredth time. For some reason his shirt was missing, all of his shirts were missing. Why it happened today, he didn't know, but he was going to try and not let it interfere.

He had spent most of the previous day, and all of that morning preparing for having guests over. He had made cakes, cookies, pies, dango, sandwiches and all sorts of snacks, as well as prepared the tea (also picked up the milk and orange juice). Once everything was ready to his liking, he had started moving the food to the balcony, having set up a table and chairs out there.

Honestly, Kabuto had no idea how many people would be showing up, this could end up being a small event. Even so, he had done what he could to make sure there was enough for those he knew would be arriving shortly, and whoever else might be showing up.

He examined his handy work one last time; satisfied with what he saw, he returned to the inside of his apartment, waiting for guests to arrive.

Edit: Put who the comment is directed at in the subject, if it doesn't have one anyone can say something or hear what is said.

Deidara laughed, looking about the room, trying to settle on something. Seeing a bowl of some sort of liquid, he nodded.

"Give me a moment, un.. And I will show you my art." He turned, walking toward the door, opening it, and leaning upon the doorframe before moving completely through. "And I promise, girl, it will be more interesting than 'homo shit', un." With this, he disappeared into the hallway.

"Hope so." Tayuya called after him. She turned to Kimimaro with a grin, caught up in the excitement.

"Is he off his rocker, or what?"

[identity profile] ossuarybouquet.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Kimimaro broke off from patiently leaning against the wall once more, and just looked at her for a moment. "... I'm sure you're one to talk, Tayuya."

[identity profile] violentflutist.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Tayuya gave a wild grin.

"Really?"

[identity profile] ossuarybouquet.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"... Really." With Tayuya, there was always some sort of provocation involved. On the other hand, she wasn't very impressive half-unclothed and still unconsciously fidgeting with the bottom half of her outfit; nor was she terribly imposing at the best of times--he did surpass her by a head or more, after all. "Although, your variety seems to involve more aimless destruction than a rampaging hippopotamus, or some other lumbering mammal. Curious, considering your size."

[identity profile] violentflutist.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Lumbering? Surely I have a bit more grace than that?" She did indeed have to crane her neck to look Kimimaro in the eyes. It just wouldn't be impressive to look straight forward at his collarbone and neck.

[identity profile] ossuarybouquet.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Grace has nothing to do with it." It wasn't difficult to stare over her head even as she tried to catch his eye with her usual furor. Instead she got an eyeful of snake, and the reptile had opened its mouth, hissing quietly. He absently reached up a hand and placed it on its head. "You lack finesse--he looked down for a disdainful moment--which has something to do with burning the specified tree, instead of setting fire to the entirety of the forest."

[identity profile] violentflutist.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Finesse?" Tayuya was becoming angry with Kimimaro's refusal to meet her gaze. He did that when he was doing his 'I'm so superior' thing. Which was... all the time.

"Why do I need ducking finesse if I get the job done anyway?" She frowned. "Or are my attacks not pretty enough for you?

[identity profile] ossuarybouquet.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Kimimaro raised an eyebrow in mild amusement at how easily the girl was riled, and allowed the snake to lower its head, level with Tayuya's eyes. "While speaking of finesse, it may not always be physical attacks that are concerned. However, naturally such a distinction would be above you."

Deidara slid back in the door, grinning with a luster that could only be described as psychotic. Returning to his place infront of the pair of Sound Nin, his hands clinched into tight fists. He held his mandibles out to them, with a nod, and a gleam in his eyes.

"Watch this."

[identity profile] ossuarybouquet.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
While baiting Tayuya was an amusing pasttime, Kimimaro had hardly forgotten the original purpose of the conversation--now that the wait was over, his eyes were already fixed on the hands Deidara offered, unwilling to let any detail slip; the issue of trust had been brought up earlier, and Kimimaro trusted no one except for himself and Orochimaru-sama.

[identity profile] chaoticcreator.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Deidara nodded, opening his palm, to reveal the small ball of clay within it. The tongue from the mouth upon his hand slipped quickly around the small mud gob, sucking it down into his hand with little more than a warning. Quickly, the mouth slammed shut, the rosy color of the small muscle disappearing from view, save the small bit that slicked over the taught lines of the small flesh-toned lips. His hand began to convulse ever so slightly, as the clay was processed within it. Deidara's fingers pulled back, shutting down around his palm, obstructing the view of the little aperture within the center. As quickly as they had shut, they fluttered back open, revealing a tiny bird perched upon the mouth, the tongue slithering like a red snake from around it, and disappearing into the environs once more.

Deidara grinned, raising his hand high, as the bird flittered its bantam wings, moving into the air. It glided through the crowd, eventually settling upon the snack table, looking about, head twitching from side to side, as if deciding upon something. Hopping nimbly across the table, it jumped up upon one of the pies, its minature eyes turning to Deidara, as it pecked softly at the pie's crust. Deidara's grin turned from one amused, to something thick with sadism, the darkness permeating his entire visage. He threw his hands into a seal, staring down at the bird, as his lips formed a word steeped in silence.

"Kai."

Precipitously, but not at all without ceremony, the bird vanished into a ball of explosion, taking the pastry with it, splashing its contents in a colorful spray across the walls and inhabitants around it with a bright bang. Deidara's face showed accomplishment, as he spoke, not even turning to face the two sound nin, as he surveyed his work. "Geijutsu wa bakuhatsu da.. True art, un."

[identity profile] ossuarybouquet.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Kimimaro watched, fascinated, as a seemingly live, clay miniature eagle (or something that looked very much like one) emerged whole from Deidara's hands and appeared to approach the food of its own volition. The snake's coils rolled against his skin as it twisted and snapped, tongue out and mouth eager, but he paid it no heed except to restrain it with the slightest emergence of shoulderblade.

He was so taken with the unanimal that he almost missed the display Deidara made with his seal, flamboyant as it was, the malice shining behind the raised hands carefully sealed into Kimimaro's memory as a reminder of the measure of this opponent that he'd glimpsed--albeit incomplete. A moment later all sound ceased within the apartment in a muffled sort of way--product of the aftershocks of the explosion as well as the state in which it had left everything.

After a moment, Kimimaro raised a pie-covered finger to his lips in half-feigned nonchalance, and licked the digit clean with calm movements. "Interesting," he allowed, "but that little display was hardly worthy of the term 'art'--I'd hope that with such tools you could fashion much finer things." It was a concession that he'd seen the potential of the other's jutsu, but a challenge also, calculated in precise words.

[identity profile] violentflutist.livejournal.com 2006-08-18 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Tayuya had watched the entire thing, eyes fixed on the movements and seals, for it wasn't every day an enemy offered to display their jutsu for you. Of course, she'd done much the same during that inhibition-curse-day, but the curse seal she possessed could not have it's secrets deciphered by a mere look. This might do something.

"Hmmm..." She looked down after the small explosion, wiping what seemed to be pie filling from her bare upper thigh. She had a small smile on her face at the idea of what that could do if that bird had landed on someone's head. Oh, it was a good technique. The whole... art thing she wasn't so sure of, but if that's what you want to call a nice technique, then damn, so be it.

"Nice." She said, the only word she uttered, wondering if Kimimaro himself might be taking her usual job and pushing a bit too far.

[identity profile] violentflutist.livejournal.com 2006-08-18 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Tayuya immediately bristled, her shoulders tensing up. She choked back a few of the more choice words she had intended to spout, instead pointing at Kimimaro.

"I'll lick the fucking pie off the ceiling if he licks it off the floor. I wasn't the only one encouraging him!"

[identity profile] ossuarybouquet.livejournal.com 2006-08-19 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Kimimaro merely nodded in acknowledgement of Kabuto's semi-threat, staying where he was, unmoving as he watched the next face-off between doctor and Akatsuki. "The apartment will be returned to a decent state." There was no apology, nor was there concession to culpability--he did not know what Kabuto had planned, but his own designs were in motion and there was as of yet no reason to retract his hand.

As if Hinata's last 24 hours hadn't been bad enough. She had almost drowned, woken up in a fountain, in the middle of a strange city, wandered around in the dark alone, had her underwear disappear, then had her clothes dissapear; and in front of NEJI, no less, and now she was covered with pie. It was too much to take. Her lower lip started to tremble, her eyes welled with tears, and she sunk to her knees on the floor and started bawling.

[identity profile] cagedbirdflying.livejournal.com 2006-08-18 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Neji, wiping the pastry innards from his face with a scowl, looked to his cousin, who was now crying in the floor. He sighed softly, as he listened, debating whether or not he would deign to go over to her. He also wondered exactly what had made her cry--had someone said something to her? Or was it just the explosion? Judging on her expression and the fact that no-one had been talking to her to his knowledge, he was believing the latter.

Such a reaction...it's so...Hinata-sama..., he mused before finally settling on walking over to her, to comfort her.

[identity profile] hyuuga-hime.livejournal.com 2006-08-18 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
Hinata was too absorbed in her crying to really notice his approach. Not that it mattered, as she assumed he would likely just laugh at her or scoff at how "weak" she was being. She screwed her fists into her eyes and sniffled, trying to make herself stop crying, but failing miserably. She tugged at the blanket around her shoulders in an attempt to make herself a tad more decent. A wise decision perhaps, as the rather "revealing" black lacy underwear gave everyone in the room a much more...intimate...view of the Hyuuga heir then she probably wanted them to see. And it certainly didn't help that she had a rather nice figure underneath the baggy clothes she normally wore.

Picking a piece of crust out of her hair, Tenten scowled in the direction of the Akatsuki boy before turning her attentions to the Hyuuga pair. It couldn't be helped, since Neji would just screw it up as always, so with a small, defeated sigh she padded over quietly, putting a comforting arm around Hinata.

"If you'd rather, I'll take you back to my place. No explosions, and no naked Akatsuki. Promise~" She added with a cheerful grin, even as she eyed up the two sound nins. Was it her, or did they look somewhat... excited at the explosion?

Shizune was a bit caught off guard by the sudden sinking to the floor of the girl she had been leading by the shoulders to the safety and cover of her room. She looked down and her face softened immedietely. She couldn't blame the girl, really. Being sucked into this strange City was hard enough on one as it was. Hinata was even as unfortunate as to appear on a curse day. At least when Shizune had arrived she hadn't been affected by that shrinking curse.

"That might be for the best." Shizune said to Tenten, trying to ignore that her entire back was coated in... pie. She crouched down next to the three Konoha ninja and lowered her voice so that it could barely be heard. She a bit thankful for Hinata's crying, as it masked her voice even better.

"I'll stay here and keep watch on Kabuto, see what he's up to. You three get settled, I'll try and contact you later."

[identity profile] weaponed.livejournal.com 2006-08-18 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
She acknowledged Hinata's thanks and Shizune's comment with a small tilt of her head, following it with a quick smirk. "Be sure to stop by if you need anything at all, Shizune. I'm probably in the best position to help you out here."

She gave Hinata a gentle push towards the door after helping her stand, with one last look in Kabuto's direction and a small wave for Shizune. It looked like her position of neutrality in the city was going to be broken fairly soon...

Not that she minded too much. She grinned again, leading the two Hyuuga's back to building 6, wondering if she'd be able to find enough in the way of weapons to suit her preferences.

[identity profile] hyuuga-hime.livejournal.com 2006-08-18 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
If Hinata was caught off-guard by Tenten, she didn't show it. Rival though the girl may have been, at least in regards to Neji, she couldn't ignore the fact that the weapons mistress was considerate. Not that Hinata really considered herself to be anywhere near something akin to "competition". Neji would never notice her like that. Either way, it wasn't really her biggest concern right now. With a sniffle and a few more tears, she pulled the blanket tighter around herself and nodded to Tenten.

"A..Arigatou...Tenten-san."
