[ Ahiru's Birthday Party - Open Log ]

When; Saturday, May 10th
Rating; G-PG? Unless someone causes trouble.
Characters; Open to All
Summary; The Opera Abandoned opens it doors to the City for the day, shelter from the rainstorm and a cheery atmosphere within - food, cakes, decorations, music---all arranged by the Host Club and a few of Ahiru's close friends---all for the sake of celebrating Ahiru's 16th birthday as the very first birthday and birthday celebration the girl has ever had.
Log;
On the biggest table in the largest hall of the Opera was a large array of foods and drinks, all spread out on a long white cloth. And in the center stood two cakes, side by side.

Fakir leaned off to the side by the wall, arms crossed and his serious expression contrasting the cheerful white and yellow streamers and balloons that adorned the enclosure. He wasn't really looking forward to enduring the noisy and social gathering that was about to ensue, but this had been what Ahiru wanted to experience. And even if he wanted nothing more than to slink off somewhere alone, he had a duty to be present...and protect the Opera residents, if necessary.

Not that he wasn't also curious as to how the redhead would react when she finally arrived. The Host Club had certainly put a lot of work into this, for which he was grateful. The ex-knight didn't have much knowledge about parties and the like, but they certainly seemed to have outdone themselves. He wished he could have done more, but anything in a normal social life was pretty much alien to him.

Fakir sighed, crossing one leg across the other--and winced when his foot came in contact with something. The culprit--a plastic pink bird-- toppled to the floor and he scowled at it.

Really. Weren't the pink flamingos a bit much? Ahiru liked birds well enough, but the damn things were everywhere.

[ ooc: This can be comment logged or action post logged, whichever you prefer! (I did an action post part above, but don't feel like you have to do the same if you want to go the simple route.) ♥ I didn't elaborate too much on what the Host Club prepared, since I didn't have anything too clear, so feel free to do so yourselves if you wish, HC members! And if there's anything I need to change/edit, do let me know. Thank you! ]

...I might switch to comment logging if I get lazy. Doooon't know.

Ahiru had no idea what to expect. She felt like she'd been running around all over the place since the other night. First she had to visit poor Guy, and then this morning before she hardly had a chance to check the Network, Professor Cat had suddenly decided she needed to practice! And to top it off, the rain outside just kept pounding against the Opera walls...

What an exhausting day! she thought to herself as she walked, rubbing her sore side. Why did Professor Cat want her to go to the Great Hall, anyway? They hardly ever went in there, it was far, far too grand for any typical day-to-day use. With a sigh, she leaned against the heavy wooden door and pushed it open to find....

Streamers? Flamingos? Huh?

Femio was eternally grateful to Ahiru for directing him to the Opera House. The rain outside was simply gastly... If it hadn't been for the voice of the aforementioned beautiful maiden, he didn't know if he would have been able to keep his sanity.

He never thought about things like carrying around umbrellas... Montand was always the one who thought of everything.

In any case, Femio had spent the last few hours hiding inside the Opera House, waiting for his hair to dry. He couldn't allow any young girls--princesses in their own right--to see him in such a state. Punishment or not, some things were just too difficult for him to think about, or even consider, for that matter.

And now he was wandering the halls, wondering where all the people he had seen before had dissapeared to. Not out into the rain, he was sure. One would have to be insane to do that. So exactly where...?

He opened one of the doors experimentally, and was not dissapointed. A literal feast for the eyes welcomed him, covered with the most amazing decorations he had ever seen in his life! Such splendor could only mean one thing...

"A party?!"

Perhaps this "City" wasn't so bad after all.

[identity profile] quackingly.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Ahiru turned around from her meeting and greeting...and her eyes widened.

Oh no. NO! She'd almost forgotten Femio because of the party, but now--if she had known there was going to be a party, she would've told him to go somewhere else!!

"F-F-FEMIO?!"

Sakura had breathed easier once she'd had a job to do. Learn the duet to play at Ahiru's party- it was easy to do something like that, and it made the brunette feel as though she was really giving something to the other girl, when she didn't know what else she could have given.

But it wasn't time just yet, and Sakura lingered near the wall, timid still, even though these people were her friends, and she lived here now, formal occasions were somehow...still strange.

[identity profile] quackingly.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Ahiru was running all over the place, talking to any person she could see, even if she didn't know them at all, when she saw the young girl sitting by the wall. Ah! Sakura! Oh, she'd almost forgot about the shy ones! She quickly skipped up to her with a smile.

"Sakura! Do you like the party? Have you had some of the cake yet?"

Wow. Just wow. Whoever had arranged this had overdone it a little. Overdone was saying it lightly too. As per the rules, Guy had left his sword at home, not wanted to trust it with anyone else.

Still, this looked fairly nice and Guy wished he could say he contributed to helping set up this party.

[identity profile] quackingly.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, there was so much to do! A real birthday party! Ahiru was almost completely overwhelmed....

Then, as she was running to look at one of the flamingos perched against the wall, she saw a tuff of blond hair. Guy! He was alright! He was cured! He wasn't horribly scarred! Ahiru quickly ran towards him, arms outstretched--

Oh! That's right, he didn't like to be touched by girls. She quickly dropped her hands to her side and tried to slow down her pace, but the grin on her face remained. "Guy! Hi! You're feeling better?"

Eyes felt prepared for this event. It had been a long time since he had performed in front of a live audience, and a duet? It made it this that much more interesting. It would be his first duet, and he had mixed thoughts on it.

He walked towards the wall, ready and waiting for instruction as to when he was to perform. After all, that's really all he was here for.

[identity profile] quackingly.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Eventually, a streak of red hair ran past. There were so many of her friends here! How would she ever say hello to--

...Ah! A stranger? No, a new friend! The girl walked up to the mysterious boy with a smile. "Hello! Are you with the Host Club?"

Uzura was wandering around the party room. She knew that today was Ahiru's special day, although she didn't exactly know why. Something about "Happy birthday!"

After "ooohing" at flamingo that was taller than her, Uzura noticed Ahiru and marched over toward her, beginning to drum. "Happy birthday-zura! Birthday-birthday-birthday-birthday-birthday-zura!"

[identity profile] quackingly.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Uzura!" Ahiru's eyes lit up at the sound of the pounding drum, and she quickly ran over to the puppet-girl, scooping her up into a hug. "Thank you, Uzura! Are you playing music for all of us?"

Unlike some people, Setsuna didn't know how to wrap gifts, so he hadn't bothered at all - hadn't even asked anyone to wrap it for him - and had it (http://www.getodd.com/Merchant2/graphics/ss7/df16x1371a3.jpg) out in the open. He kinda hoped no one would mistake it as his.
Granted, Setsuna's mind immediately shifted from worrying over that to staring at the plastic pink flamigos. FLAMIGOS?! Flamigos and yellow and white streamers and balloons? He could deal with the yellow, but mixed with the pink - what was this?

Eventually, his mouth just had to ask, "What the fuck is with the flamigos?"

[identity profile] quackingly.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Ahiru turned, glancing at the boy. For a moment she'd almost thought it was Fakir, but no, he already knew about the flamingos and he normally didn't say something like that so casually....

Oh! That boy she met the other day! Didn't he say that he cursed like that, too? So that must be...

"Setsuna?"

Sarah always thought the opera house looked beautiful, but today exceptionally so.

Everything about the party was warm, bright, and welcoming. There was food, there were streamers, there were...flamingos! She could easily guess how they got there, and couldn't help but grin.

She was glad to see so many people had come, even if she didn't know them all. She saw Sakura and waved cheerfully, smiling. She wondered where the birthday girl was, and paused for a moment as she tried to locate her, holding her wrapped present behind her back.

[identity profile] quackingly.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Ahiru was running around the room like a maniac, apparently bound and determined to say hello to every single person she could. Of course, she was hardly watching where she was going, so one of the poor flamingos was a victim of her crazy dashing, toppling off its one stick-like leg without warning. With a gasp, Ahiru attempted to right it, her cheeks as pink as the flamingo. Oops! Nobody saw that, right...?

Ahiru's present

[identity profile] he-who-kills.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
A small figure, wearing a festive bow tie (http://www.blackwatchkitshop.com/shop/images/FormedBowTie.jpg) around its waist, scurried with ease thru the forest of legs. Destination, the gift table.

But first, a detour into the safety of a nearby decorative life sized flamingo flock.

Amongst the many pink stem-like plastic legs, the wooden doll pulled a little paper swathed bundle out of its waist banded bow tie. Careful unwrapping revealed a swan broach (http://www.emcity.com/images3/sl007.jpg). On the back, the simple inscription read Much Happiness to Quacking Girl. After giving the gift a quick once over and a pleased nod, the doll resumed its journey.

Kirby didn't even know that a party was going on today. He'd had an extra piece of watermelon cake lying around and even though he'd normally would have eaten it himself, he thought maybe that girl Ahiru that he'd met the other day might like it.

So he decided to take it over himself. The only problem was the rain. After puzzling over that for a bit he found a plastic box he could put it in, then an umbrella caught his eye. As Parasol Kirby, he could make extra sure it didn't get wet, so he swallowed the umbrella and headed over to the Oprea House.

He was a little surprised to find lots of people there with music and pretty decorations. "Poyo? A party?"

He walked in with the box containing the cake on his head, lowering the little red and white stripe parasol that was part of his current ability as soon as he was completely out of the rain and looking around curiously.

[identity profile] quackingly.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahiru turned and looked at the newcomer, blinking in surprise. "Oh, Kirby!!" She ran up to him and ducked down to get to his level, smiling brightly. "Hello! Did you decide to come, too? What a cute umbrella!"

Rue decided to shadow the corners, watching the celebration unsure of how to join. In formal events she had hosted, there was a protocol to follow, rules of how to eat, introduce yourself, dance, rise and repeat. They were easier to remember than any spontaneous gathering of so many. The crowds still intimidated her when she had no idea of how she should act.

How did someone behave in these parties?

She sighed and sat down, fidgeting the edge of her simple, red dress. She tried to locate Ahiru and waited she was alone to congratulate her.

[identity profile] quackingly.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahiru was surprised to see Rue sitting off by herself. She knew that Rue wasn't quite as outgoing as she was--perhaps it was a family trait?--but it was still odd to see the girl in the shadows, away from the party. Ahiru was used to thinking of her as a Princess and a popular girl, and in her mind Rue still always knew what to say and how to behave. Much different from herself, of course.

The redhead skipped up to the older girl and threw her arms around her, giving her a big hug. "Rue! The cake you and Mytho and Fakir made is wonderful! Thank you so much for all the work you've done!"

[identity profile] coppelia-waltz.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
With all the people in one room, Pique could hardly see half way to the door, let alone find that familiar redhead that was the highlight of this party. She fiddled with her gift, trying to make sure the bow was positioned right as she wandered through the crowd, stopping to chat with some of the guests once and a while.

Where was Ahiru?

[identity profile] wantscakie.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Hunny was busy rushing about, making sure everything was in place - and okay, maybe he passed by the sweets table once too often, but it was a Host's job to take care of things like that, after all!

He was really excited at the first proper party since he'd arrived in the City. Usa-chan was wearing a smart bow-tie in honour of the occasion and Hunny was all ready to great Ahiru with a happy birthday hug as soon as she was done talking to her other friends.
