Tony smiled as he saw Tosh looking at some parts in the window of one of the shops in the Underground. Not the safest of places really, but if you wanted to get good parts this is where you had to go.

"Find anything you like," he asked as he strolled up next to her.

When you had an immortal time agent, a superhero, and an assortment of Jedi looking out for you, you tended to figure you were pretty safe no matter where you went. Although Tosh still wasn't quite up to venturing very far past the first collection of shops on her own.

"I think something I like just found me," she replied, looking up with a smile.

Tony wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close for a quick kiss. How many people got to go on a date like this? In the past he usually had to go to some fancy dinner party or something with a girl to do a public activity they both enjoyed. It was nice to do this sort of thing with Tosh.

"Do I get to take you home then?" he asked, smiling back at her.

Oh, that was nice. Tosh put her arms around Tony's waist for a moment, and stood looking up at him.

"If you think you can afford me," she teased. A day out scrounging for electronics and then home with Tony? Sounded like about the best date a girl like Tosh could want.

"I am a multibillionaire back home," Tony said. "So hopefully I could at least qualify for the lay away program. Maybe take out a line of credit?"

Chuckling he leaned down and kissed her again, this time a bit deeper. He liked that Tosh teased him back and would play along with him.

"Of course, I'd have to be assured that you're the type of model I'm looking for."

She could probably stand out here and kiss him all day, except that it was a pretty public place. And there was the lure of shiny things inside. But for the moment, Tosh happily enjoyed the kiss, smoothing her hand over the back of his jacket when he pulled away.

"Hmm, sort of a trial inspection run, you mean? I might be persuaded."

"Yes, a trial run," Tony agreed. "But if you don't mind, I'd like to pick up a few more things before we head home and do all sorts of trials."

Tony was really more window shopping today. There were a few things he had in mind to build and most of them required very, very large parts. Nothing he could fit in a shopping cart today, but he could scout out some things. Of course, who knows what you might find down here when you weren't looking for it.

Finding unexpected things when you weren't looking for them was the best part of a shopping trip, Tosh would have said. She grinned and moved away, reaching for Tony's hand and heading for the door of the shop.

"Promise to feed me and I'm all yours. I'm tired of my cooking."

"I promise I'll feed you," Tony told her, giving her hand a bit of a squeeze. "Although it might just be Chinese delivery or something along those lines. So what exactly are you looking for?"

"You're in luck, I love Chinese take-away. We can pick up a bottle of wine on the way home too."

Tosh gave a little shrug and looked around the shop. "Well, anything interesting I can find, but for certain I need copper wire and an old toaster or two. What about you?"

"I think I'd like that a lot," he said, smiling at her again as he browsed the place.

"Preferably? Several tons of vibranium or adamantium. Barring that, some combat grade hydraulics. Since that's unlikely too, maybe some sort of plant where I can manufacture what I need."

"Ooh, that sounds like an interesting project. This is probably not quite the sort of place to buy in bulk, but maybe we can ask around? There must be some kind of source for construction materials and things, I would think."

Tosh wandered about, occasionally picking up something that caught her eye, usually some salvaged bit of half-recognizable electronics that seemed like it could be useful down the road. And of course her toasters.

"No, probably not, but it can't hurt to look. I suddenly miss all the resources I had available back home," he said. When you owned a company the size of his, something you needed was always made by something you owned.

"I came down here a lot when I first arrived here. I'd buy something, fix it up, then turn and sell it for a profit."

Tosh laughed. "I used to do the same, except I didn't sell any of my stuff. Just fiddled around and made things for myself or the flat, or occasionally for someone else if they asked."

She looked thoughtfully at piece of mid-twentieth-century radio equipment, and added, "Still do, actually. And you're absolutely right, it can't hurt at all to have a look. Down here, who knows what you might come across."

"What can I say, I'm just a greedy American businessman," Tony said with a wink as he eyed several random components. The problem with being as brilliant as he was was that he always thought he could make something better himself.

"I'm just waiting for the day I find something I designed from my world down here."

"Oh, that'd be brilliant if you did! Wonder if there's any chance of any Torchwood artifacts winding up down here."

She didn't figure it was likely -- and in all honesty, she'd feel honor bound to snatch them up and turn them over to Jack anyway. But still, there were a couple of things from back at the Hub she'd have loved to get her hands on.

"I did take commissions for pay," Tosh pointed out. "But I'm selfish, I like to keep my toys to myself."

"I'd definitely want some sort of monetary compensation or at least proof that it was purchased through legal means in my world," Tony added, half seriously. He could never fully shut of the businessman aspect of himself.

"You could always just build two of everything," he suggested.

"You are greedy," Tosh teased, jabbing him lightly with her elbow as moved past. "I suppose I could do that, I hadn't really thought much about it. I never did anything like this for money before, it was always for someone else. Though I think there are enough mechanics and engineers in town that I don't really need to saturate the market. And I've got a full time job now, which means I can contribute something toward my upkeep."

"I just want what's rightfully mine," he said with a shrug. He knew Tosh really didn't think he was, but it was a common enough misconception. "The money is just... a way to keep score. Heh, and that's why I'm so good at it, because everyone else who's smart enough to make things doesn't think to make money off of it."

Tosh didn't really think so, but she didn't want Tony to feel bad about what she'd said regardless. So she turned back toward him and reached for his hand, standing up on her toes to kiss him.

"And you should make money off your ideas. They're brilliant."

Tony smiled a bit and leaned down to kiss Tosh. She really was bad for his ego, flattering him like that. But he had to admit he did like it.

"Yours are brilliant too you know."

"I know," she answered cheekily. "But mine don't have much public application. And I'm not much of a saleswoman."

Tony chuckled and leaned down to kiss her again. "They could have public application if they were allowed to. But you're the men in black and all that so you're not allowed to."

"Ooh, the men in black, I like that," Tosh grinned. "It definitely makes me feel a little better about not being able to share my amazing technological genius with the world."

She squeezed his hand and then headed for the counter to pay for her purchases. "Have you found anything useful?"

"Yes, very secretive and beyond the government and what not," he said with a nod as he followed her up to the counter.

"And no, nothing really. I didn't come down with a really definite list in mind though."
