Log;

After setting up the arrangements with Caspian, Tosh headed out for her third 'meal date' of the day, shaking her head in bemusement at how oddly these things seemed to schedule themselves. She'd anticipated a silent day around the flat, and instead had spent most of her time out with friends. Which was nice, and desperately needed. Now, she stood outside the door of the pub, leaning against the wall as she waited for her guests to arrive.

"Everyone has to eat." Peter gave an inquiring glance towards Toshiko. She wasn't one of those girls who starved themselves to look pretty, was she? Toshiko seemed to have no sense than that.

Even in his less than aware state, Peter knew better than to ask about it. He had a feeling Susan would have hit him (had she been there) for asking.

"You look more lively than ever to me," said Caspian, quite confident in his opinion on Tosh's status as the living or the dead.

She wasn't rotting, so... Caspian had also failed to tell Peter that she was, well, dead. That was because she didn't look nor act like what Caspian considered dead, and both Narnians had seen dead before. He took another gulp of his beer, when finally, he admitted.

"I think I may have to slow myself.."

[identity profile] lionrampante.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
That certainly came as a surprise to Peter. "I'm terribly sorry, Toshiko. I hope I didn't pry in to anything personal." Peter busied himself by taking one last sip, to cover his surprise over Toshiko's revelation. "You do seem perfectly ...alive to me. At least." Peter stumbled over his last few words, hoping he didn't offend her.

After hearing Caspian's admittance, Peter turned to glance at the other. "Already?" Of course, it was just a front. Peter was about to give up, if he hadn't already.

Caspian's hand firmly planted itself on Peter's shoulder over that remark, neither squeezing nor slipping. It seemed like he was about to counter the High King's challenge, his gaze narrowing... before it simply looked a little lazy and he just nodded at Peter, conceding defeat. Yes, already.

"I have seen such words on the... the network," Caspian nodded to Tosh, "but not with my own eyes. After this, I would still be unable to tell the difference, Toshiko." He smiled, "I would not mind, unless you do."

Peter would have felt a small sense of pride, but it was overshadowed by the queasiness he felt. It was better to leave it like that. Peter moved his glass to the side, as if to signal that he too, was ready to stop. In a less than sober move, Peter patted Caspian's hand, much like one would pet a dog for sitting. It could have been a 'good game' symbol, who knows. Peter didn't know either.

"I don't mind." Peter said with a small grin.

[identity profile] treadingdawn.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
A dog? Good thing Peter didn't say it aloud, and it was also good that Caspian would've been too cheerful on the beer to mind it anyway. His hand fell from Peter's shoulder to retrieve some money for their meals.

"What do we owe? And it would only be right to walk you back to your home, Toshiko. I barely knew my mother."

Off handed remarks were best left just like that, off hand and easily dismissable.

"You didn't even have to ask." Peter said, a more gallant tone than usual. And as for the mother remark, he still had enough sense not to make any remark, even though he personally though Toshiko didn't seem close to his mother's age.

"You did," Caspian stared at her, as if this piece of news shocked him, but then he smiled, "you are quick and shrewd."

It's a compliment really, don't mind him. He'd already forgotten about age and mothers and then he remembered to actually stand. Fortunately he managed to do so without any shaking steps. "Next time I hope that you will leave payment to someone else," said Caspian.

[identity profile] lionrampante.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
"You'll have to let us pay next time." Peter sounded quite rueful. It wasn't that Peter was old fashioned; it was the fact Caspian and he had eaten so much more than Toshiko. Having her pay when she had spent much less didn't seem right.

Peter followed Caspian and stood, wobbling only slightly.

[identity profile] treadingdawn.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Agreed, Toshiko," he grinned.

Oh she was being smart again. Caspian gave the address for the front entrance of the buildings where they lived. He steadied himself then stood up straight, 6'0 for a boy of sixteen or so, but it was obvious he didn't hold his liquor like a good old pub-touring bloke.

[identity profile] lionrampante.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Peter nodded along with Caspian. Caspian had said what Peter was thinking, and he chose to stand, or wobble, in silence. He wasn't drunk, but to say he was in peak condition would have been a lie.

"After you, Toshiko." Peter said easily, ever the gentleman.

[identity profile] treadingdawn.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Really easy.

"Oh, that is convenient..." he remarked without questioning the coincidence. He followed after her, matching Peter's gentlemanly conduct, or as much of it as he could while feeling warm. Caspian didn't stumble at least, and his steps were slow to keep his head from going too light.

[identity profile] lionrampante.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
"It's a surprise how we haven't see you too often around." Peter said conversationally, as he followed behind Toshiko. "It's not as busy as London, but it's close."

Even after three beers, Peter managed to walk carefully down the streets, making sure to stay slightly in front of Caspian.

[identity profile] treadingdawn.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Very friendly, and although Caspian didn't have enough conceit to believe Toshiko should consider herself lucky, it was a simple fact that some would. And he was most honored to have her on his arm too, even if he had to share her with Peter. He really didn't mind in his intoxication.

"We can add that place to the list," Caspian commented with a nod, regarding the pub as one of the places they could now say they both frequented.

A couple blocks more, some long and some short, got them to a corner down from the address Caspian had given her.

[identity profile] lionrampante.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Peter saw it as a bonding opportunity, and nothing more. If he had been slightly more sober he might have protested, but this way wasn't so bad either.

"Definitely." Peter said, giving a few vigorous nods of agreement. "You should come over to our place once in a while too. We're always open to company."

[identity profile] treadingdawn.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Basketball," he asked Toshiko curiously but without pressing the matter because his mind couldn't possibly take learning about an entirely new game complete with its scoring system right now. He also nodded in agreement with Peter, that Tosh was invited for company whenever she'd like.

"Believe me, Toshiko. It was a pleasure," he smiled, stopping delink so that she could walk at her leisure.

[identity profile] lionrampante.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I can explain to you later, Caspian." Peter said, as he also let go of Toshiko. "We'll definitely visit."

"Be careful." Peter added as an afterthought, as he held his hand out for Toshiko to shake.
