Log; Incomplete

When; Thursday, January 1st
Rating; PG (Good starter there)
Characters; Mat [livejournal.com profile] bloodygoodluck and Clow [livejournal.com profile] i_themagician
Summary; Mat should have been resting. Instead, he went for a walk into the City...
Log; His leg was hurting.

That was his very first thought as he finally stepped into the City limits. He should have stayed at Rain's place resting. However, he was tired of staying in one place. Yes, he'd been brought here last night (and Tony's medical team had ambushed him) but he still wanted to get places by his own power. Without anyone helping.

Which was why he now was limping badly as he stepped into the square. His hat hiding his face as he studed the ground he walked on. Maybe he should've brought his quarterstaff. At least then he'd have something to lean on.

He never claimed to be the most intelligent of people. No matter what his past was.

Taking one bad step, Mat winced and moved to a nearby wall to lean against it.

Clow was walking home from the store; opening day had been somewhat successful, and had left him tired and thoughtful and even slightly oblivious. He recognized the particular way that hitsuzen acts around Mat before he recognized the man himself, and then realized that he was limping. Ah, right - he had been used as a break-fall on by a building, the silly git. And he was out and trying to walk without a cane or anything, brilliant.

"You're getting to old to be trying that," he utters just loudly enough for the other man to hear as he approaches. Poor guy. Is he even that far from his house? He probably isn't going to make it to wherever he's trying to go, not like that.

"Trying to walk on an injured leg, it looks like," Clow replied, looking down. He was smiling, though, sort of in that way that one smiles at one's particularly cute (if idiotic at times) son. "I was just on my way home. Do you need any help?"

Clow glanced from the forest, back to the wall. Mat did deserve some credit for that, certainly. "So I see."

"There's no wrong answer, but I do hope for your sake that you don't intend to go very far." And this is him moving subtly into a position to catch the unstable-looking Mat if he should fall over.

Thank heavens for foresight; Clow caught him as easily as though he had been expecting it, which he was to an extent. Mat had almost convinced him not to for a second there. Well, this wasn't gay at all, him holding the other man to keep him from falling over.

"What am I going to do with you?" This was a serious question, though - what was he going to do with him?

"I'm beginning to suspect that your luck doesn't always come through for you, Mat," he responds, almost chuckling. "Well, here, shall I take you home?"

[identity profile] i-themagician.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Or your bravery." Clow raises an eyebrow at him, amused. "I didn't think we had that kind of relationship."

Clow only threw back his head and laughed heartily in response, as a sigil began to glow on the ground beneath them.

And in case Mat was wondering, it was indeed Rain's house they were headed to.

Clow paused - really, he couldn't have completely stopped at this point because there were too many special effects going on (perhaps some wind and things like that, by now), not without having it hurt a great deal - but they weren't going anywhere immediately. He really, really had some trouble understanding the idea of not using magic around Mat.

"What, you want that I should carry you?"

"You're stubborn, aren't you?" Clow shot back, but it was good-natured. After disbanding what was left of the spell, he insisted, "At least let me walk next to you so that you can lean on me if you have to."

To be honest, that reaction had confused the hell out of him, and he gives a small sigh of relief that all the flailing is over with. To be honest, he really wanted to ask about Mat's aversion to magic, but to do so right now seemed like it would be pushing an already awkward situation. So, he remained somewhat uncomfortably silent as he walked beside the other man and offered support.

look, icons kind of match

Clow shook his head. "Nothing's wrong, but I keep wanting to ask about your aversion to magic."

"Forgive my ignorance," and it really was, he supposed. "What is the One Power?"

[identity profile] i-themagician.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah." There was a lull in the conversation, and then he wondered-- "Can it be used for good?"
