Log; Incomplete

When; Thursday, January 1st
Rating; PG (Good starter there)
Characters; Mat [livejournal.com profile] bloodygoodluck and Clow [livejournal.com profile] i_themagician
Summary; Mat should have been resting. Instead, he went for a walk into the City...
Log; His leg was hurting.

That was his very first thought as he finally stepped into the City limits. He should have stayed at Rain's place resting. However, he was tired of staying in one place. Yes, he'd been brought here last night (and Tony's medical team had ambushed him) but he still wanted to get places by his own power. Without anyone helping.

Which was why he now was limping badly as he stepped into the square. His hat hiding his face as he studed the ground he walked on. Maybe he should've brought his quarterstaff. At least then he'd have something to lean on.

He never claimed to be the most intelligent of people. No matter what his past was.

Taking one bad step, Mat winced and moved to a nearby wall to lean against it.

Clow smiled a little at that - so stubborn, yet so flappable. He teased, "Surely you don't think I'm a bad person, do you~?"

"Then I wouldn't use magic to hurt you, would I?" He's smiling and attempting to be cute. Perhaps it's working.

"I have trouble separating the two, sometimes," Clow admitted, softly.

Clow remained silent, unsure of what to say; he didn't want to admit that the description seemed very familiar. He stole a sideglance at Mat, but then looked at the ground, not wanting to give away more than he has already.

"I see."

Why do so many people ask that? He had no intention of answering, perhaps couldn't give a straight answer.

"Very old," he simply said.

"I wouldn't need to be old to do that, would I?" Clow was genuinely confused about what Mat meant by 'wise' but refused to admit it.

"I have." He smiles again, reverting back to that annoyingly placid default state of his. "Wisdom isn't so much something that steadily rises as we age; it's a bell curve that reaches its lowest point probably around whatever age you are."

"You apparently worry when I don't," Clow countered.

Clow laughs off being called irritating, but who knows how he'd react to being compared to a woman? "No, I'm afraid I haven't. She's someone from your world, I take it?"

"Those things can be wrong, you know," Clow was quick to observe. "And it's possible that you will meet her, eventually."

"It's possible." Clow replied as neutrally as possible, but he was also looking at the ground.

Clow only chuckles a bit half-heartedly in response. "I'm sure that everyone who has ever had to save the world sympathizes with you."
