Amu's surprise birthday party

Unlike the get-together on Sunday, this WAS supposed to be a surprise party. Amu's three chara and Uta had done the planning, and were to lure Amu to Konata's apartment sometime in the afternoon. Konata wasn't really used to playing hostess, and twice in a week was strange for her, but at least there was plenty of space...

When Uta told her that she was coming over to Konata's apartment to help with some things, she didn't really think anything of it.

Needless to say, she was totally surprised to find the apartment full of people who were her friends for a surprise birthday party for her. It was definitely not something she'd expected.

Tianzi had been pleased to hear that Amu would be getting a party- wouldn't it be nice? She'd never had a surprise party herself, because... well, her birthday was a grand occassion, feasts and diplomats, shows and riches for the Empress, but this...

She thought something like this was much nicer.

"Amu! Happy birthday!" That was right, wasn't it? The Tianzi waved eagerly, a small box in her hand.

Amu had always tried not to make such a big deal out of her birthday. She'd always say that it's something that little kids only get excited over which was why she doesn't mention it until people ask. However, that wasn't what she really thought though. In truth, she was excited for her birthday and happy that her friends went to all this trouble just to surprise her for her birthday, which apparently they all somehow found out about?

"Ah, thank you Tianzi!" Amu smiled her as she approached her, noticing the box in her hand.

"I hope it counts when you get home!" The Tianzi held out her small gift with the bright smiles she often wore, inside, a Chinese good luck charm she'd managed to find fastened to a bracelet.

"I mean-" She realized it sounded a bit funny when she said it like that, correcting herself. "When you go home, I hope you get to have another good one!"

She was just about to comment on Tianzi's statement about it but upon been given the small gift, Amu opened it and smiled as she saw the present "Oh wow. This is really nice. Thank you Tianzi"

She paused and when Tianzi spoke again to correct herself, Amu just nodded as she finally realized what she meant by her original statement "Mm. Well knowing my friends back home, I don't doubt that"

"That's great, then, I'm glad." The Tianzi rocked a bit on her heels, torn between excitement and nervousness, fingers lacing together in front of her.

"I'm not sure what we do at a birthday party so much, but- it's really fun!"

"You don't? Well it's kind of like a regular party for the most part"

"If you didn't hear already," Konata said, approaching Amu, "It was your chara that spilled the beans about your birthday."

Amu just sighed. "Yeah I kind of figured it was them since they are the only one who do know"

"That must be weird, to have a little part of you thinking independently. I wonder if you could play a four-player video game by yourself..."

"Yeah, it can be...wait, a four player video game by myself?"

She's never really thought about it before, considering video games weren't really her thing.

"Wait, we should really try that. Can you play 'Bomberman'?"

Ikuto was standing near the back, happy and amused to see Amu's surprised expression when she realized that she had just walked into a surprise party. He hung back for a while and let her talk to her friends; it was her day, after all, and he could wait. After a while, he saw her standing alone and walked over.

"Happy Birthday."

She was standing by herself at this point and she looked over and saw Ikuto walk over to her. She didn't really notice that he was there before because she was busy talking to her friends, but she probably should have expected he'd be there too.

"Oh-- thanks"

He smiled at her. "So are you having a good time?"

"Mm, yeah. I guess" She just shrugged, though that statement pretty much translated to a yes.

"Do you think that anyone would miss you if you went outside for a minute?"

"Hinamori-chan~!"

Uta came from behind Konata, smiling happily and... obviously hiding something behind her back.

"Happy Birthday!"

"Ah- thank you Uta" Amu smiled as Uta came up to her. She did notice she was trying to hide something behind her back, but she didn't say anything.

"...you're not even curious~?"

She hands her the package, a pink covered box with a while ribbon on the side. Fairly huge since a huggable, white, stuffed teddy bear with a top hat was in it.

"Oh, fine~ Open it, open it~!"

She seemed more excited than Amu was.

She paused for a moment as she glanced at the huge box. Okay, maybe she was a bit curious seeing how big the gift was but it wasn't in her character to show that exactly.

She laughed slightly as Uta eagerly told her to open the gift. "Okay, I will open it"

And with that she starts to open it and it reveals the huge white teddy bear. She secretly loved teddy bears and cute things despite the fact it was something she never really revealed to people, but upon seeing it, she smiled. "Oh, wow~ thank you Uta!"

Misao sprang out at the birthday girl, pleased at herself for having been quiet for very long. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMU-CHAN!" she called out cheerfully, waving her arms about before she hugged the pink-haired girl enthusiastically.

She turned and waved back and was surprised to be suddenly hugged so enthusiastically, but then again, she should have expected that from Misao "Ah- thanks, Misao-san"

Of course Uta was there... she thought telling Amu that she needed help with naming Ishida's kittens was a lame excuse, but it worked! And the surprise was successful~

"Konata~!" She called, skipping up to her friend, "thanks for letting raid your apartment~!"

And a little quieter, she whispered, "are you feeling much better?"

"... Yeah, I'm okay. Taiga didn't like it here anyway. And it's hard to be lonely with so many people here." Konata nibbled on a potato chip absentmindedly.

"Hey, how'd you lure Amu here?"
