Amu's surprise birthday party

When; Thursday, Sept. 24 2009, afternoon
Rating; PG at worst
Characters; Amu (the birthday girl), Konata (the hostess, again), Uta (the guilty party), Konata's apartment-mates, various friends of Amu
Summary; Uta enlists Konata's help (and suddenly sparsely-populated apartment) in planning a surprise party
Log;

Unlike the get-together on Sunday, this WAS supposed to be a surprise party. Amu's three chara and Uta had done the planning, and were to lure Amu to Konata's apartment sometime in the afternoon. Konata wasn't really used to playing hostess, and twice in a week was strange for her, but at least there was plenty of space...

She followed him as they were outside now, curious as to where he was leading her and why since when they got there she noticed he was looking around for something.

"Huh? Where is who?"

He didn't answer Amu's question and looked out towards the rooftops instead.

"Oh. There he is."

A strange black shape appeared over one of the buildings, and a familiar voice called out. "I'm here, nya!"

The moonlight shone down and the black shape was revealed to be Yoru flying towards them, carrying the long-unseen violin case by a grass-stained strap.

She looked into the direction that Ikuto was looking towards and she saw something heading towards them. Upon seeing that it Yoru approaching them and she realized that was who referring to, though she was a bit surprised to see him carrying the violin case along with him on his way towards them.

Yoru dropped the violin case into Ikuto's hands and he caught it easily. Despite the dirt on the case, it was easy to see that the violin itself was in perfect condition as Ikuto gently picked it up.

"At least that stupid dog was good for something, nya..."
guardianjoker: (What did you say?)

[personal profile] guardianjoker 2009-09-26 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
She just watched silently as he took his violin not really sure what to say, mostly because she wasn't sure what to make of why he brought her out here at first.

"Are you going to play?"

[identity profile] cat-on-strings.livejournal.com 2009-09-26 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Ikuto smiled up at her. "Yup. It's safe now. No more x-egg." He held it up for her to look at. It was back to its normal color, with no trace of the sickly purple anywhere.

"I left it out in the forest for a while. And I've hardly touched it since... well, you know."
guardianjoker: (Hm?)

[personal profile] guardianjoker 2009-09-26 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Really?" She looked at the violin seeing that it did look normal again. She was glad that it did return to it's original state. After all, even though Ikuto had told her originally that he was going to get rid of the violin,...it was important to him, right? Despite what he was saying otherwise to her.

"Mm right,...so it's been a while then. Well that's good that it is back to normal. How did it turn back anyway?"

[identity profile] cat-on-strings.livejournal.com 2009-09-26 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Ikuto stood up. "That chara that appeared during the curse the other day gave me a hint. The egg that changed it is still the same as the others. It's just sleeping now." He looked at the violin. "I still don't know how it got there though..."

Turning back to Amu, he smiled again. "Anyway, I wanted you to be the first person to hear it again."
guardianjoker: (Taken aback)

[personal profile] guardianjoker 2009-09-26 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh-- I see, well I guess it doesn't really matter much right now, since it is back to normal" Amu said as she looked at the violin.

Upon hearing his next statement though, she looked surprised by it, since he never played for her. She almost thought she heard wrong when she repeated it as a question "You wanted me to be the first person to hear it?"

[identity profile] cat-on-strings.livejournal.com 2009-09-26 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's your present." He paused, looking up at the moon. "I couldn't think of anything at first... But I wanted to tell you what had happened anyway, so this worked out."
guardianjoker: (Blushing)

[personal profile] guardianjoker 2009-09-27 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh-- my present?" Amu began saying, but she soon found herself at a loss for words for a few moments. She knew she told him to surprise her, but this was definitely not what she expected,...not that she even knew what to expect in the first place from him.

It was a good surprise though and it felt nice that he wanted her to be the first person to hear it again.

"W-Well this is good. I mean, I like hearing you play"

[identity profile] cat-on-strings.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
"I guess I did pick the right thing, then." Still smiling, Ikuto lifted the violin and the bow and began to play.

Like he'd said, Ikuto hadn't played that violin at all because of what had happened, so he hadn't rehearsed anything. Instead, he played the first thing that came to mind; a melody from a long time ago, that Utau used to sing to...

Amu just stood there watching him play.

She knew he said that he hadn't touched his violin since what happened but his playing always impressed her. She was listening to the song he was playing, she didn't think she'd heard him play that song before but it sounded nice and before she knew she was softly humming along with the tune.

[identity profile] cat-on-strings.livejournal.com 2009-09-27 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Ikuto could hear her humming along faintly above the melody, and felt glad that she seemed to be enjoying her present. He didn't have anything else to give her, considering that his main distraction was wandering around the City and he had never bothered to get a job because of that. Aside from that, however, he felt that she was the only one that he wanted to play for. In the back of his mind, Ikuto knew that he'd probably still be wandering some dark corner of the City if it wasn't for her. Although he'd never say it, this present was more of a "thank you" gift than anything else.

Even though Amu had gotten a lot of gifts from other people who came to this surprise birthday party that was thrown for her, she really liked Ikuto's present the most. Given that he rarely hears him play and the fact he doesn't seem to like playing in front of people, she realized this must have really meant something coming from him and it made her happy that he was playing for her.

She just continued to hum along and listen to him play until he would finish playing before she decided to say something.

[identity profile] cat-on-strings.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
The melody came to a close and Ikuto lowered his violin, waiting to see if she was going to say something. He could already guess her reaction based on how she'd been humming along, though.
guardianjoker: (Slight blush)

When Ikuto finished playing, she was trying to figure out the words she wanted to say.

"I-- um, thank you for playing for me"

That was all that she managed to be able to say though despite how lame she thought that it sounded.

[identity profile] cat-on-strings.livejournal.com 2009-09-28 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Hearing her say that was good enough for him.

"You're welcome. We should probably get back to the party."

Ikuto turned to put the violin back in its case.
guardianjoker: (Sincere)

[personal profile] guardianjoker 2009-09-28 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. We probably should before people realize that I left" Amu said as she waited for him as he was putting his violin back in it's case. Even though she was aware of why he played for her, this felt nice somehow and she didn't really want it to end. She didn't really understand that feeling much at all...whatever it was.

"Hey. Can I ask you something?"

[identity profile] cat-on-strings.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Ikuto closed the case and stood up, slinging it over his shoulder. "Sure. What is it?"
guardianjoker: (Well...)

[personal profile] guardianjoker 2009-09-29 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Amu looked in thought for a moment before she spoke again. "Well, I was wondering...was the fact you played for me just now, a one-time thing because it's my birthday today?"

She figured he'd say it was, but it couldn't hurt to ask, right?

"I guess that depends." He faked a serious expression. "Do you want it to be a one-time thing?"
guardianjoker: (Blushing)

[personal profile] guardianjoker 2009-09-29 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
"It depends?" Amu was taken aback by that answer at first, she expected him to straight out tell her no, because that's how he always answered her. "So it's up to me now? I-- uh, no I don't want it to be one-time thing. I told you I like hearing you play after all..."

[identity profile] cat-on-strings.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Then it's not." He smiled and started walking back towards the apartment. "We should get going."
guardianjoker: (Excited)

[personal profile] guardianjoker 2009-09-29 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Really? Are you sure?" Amu was excited that he agreed because she didn't expect that, but she had to double check to make sure that he wasn't just saying it or something.
